Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

"F*cking son of a.." I cussed, reading through the post that Ariel was showing me.

Under the picture, it wrote "Kai's Fling With Newbie."

"Fling?" I questioned, my anger heightening at the site of the word.

"I'm going to go ahead and assume that it isn't true." Zora said, as she and Ariel watched me from the side as I glared at the phone.

"At least your face isn't showing that much in the picture...right?" Ariel said, trying to lighten the mood.

"Do you guys know who posted this?" I asked, looking at the name of the user "GossipVampire".

"It's Elena. She's a vampire and she posts about everything. Since Kai is particularly popular she posts a lot about him." Ariel answered, her eyes going from me to Zora.

"Is she a level A?" I asked.

"Level B." Ariel said.

"Okay, let's go to the assembly." I answered, giving back Ariel's phone and getting up from my position on the ground.

Now all I needed to do was find Elena and get her to delete it.

----

The gym was huge as multiple people filled in and found their spots and took them, ready for the assembly that was about to commence.

At first I thought we could choose wherever to sit in the bleachers, till I saw the lady handing out numbers that said which seat to go to (the seats had numbers on them too). You would think, everyone coming in at a time will have the numbers going in ascending order. No, she had randomized the letters and Ariel, Zora, and me now had to sit at different ends of the gym.

"I'll miss you guys." Ariel said, hugging us tight as if she wasn't going to see us for a couple of months.

"We are literally going to live together Ariel." Zora mumbled as I gave her a hug and went to look for my seat, the thought of being posted online running through my mind.

"I wonder why she's so upset." Zora muttered as I went away from them and right before I could go to a distance that I could no longer hear from (which is like some feet away even if people are whispering), I heard Ariel say, "me neither."

After ascending the stairs and finding my seat in the back, I spent the next couple of minutes eyeing the seat that was next me, conjuring up any power I had in controlling fate (which I had none of) to ensure that either Kai or Stephanie didn't sit there.

"Dove! Hey!" I heard from my right where there was no seat since I was sitting on the end of the section.

"Oh Aidan!" I said, spotting his figure as he ran towards me.

"Were you able to meet up with the headmaster?" Aidan asked me, his figure right in front of my sitting one now.

"Yeah I was thanks to you!" I said, smiling at him instead of showing him the nasty mean glare I wanted to have on my face because of how angry I was.

I mean who devotes their time to posting about gossip in a school? Someone who has no life worth of anything drama worthy that's who.

"Of course. I was glad to help you out. If you ever need a tour around the school, I'm always willing to do it." Aidan said, the timid look still on his face as he cracked a smile.

"You better not take back your word." I joked.

"Never, but I think I should get going. The assembly is about to start soon. See you around Dove." Aidan said, waving at me as he went to go take his seat that was not that far from where I was.

"Hey princess." A voice said as a hand encircled around my shoulders as he sat next to me.

Right when I heard the word "princess" and got a waft of his cologne that wasn't powerful but had a delicious and clean scent, I knew who it was.

"Get off me." I said, shaking his hand off of me.

"Aw, but I thought we were together for the week." Kai jokes.

"Shut up." I replied, not in the mood to talk to him and have that Elena b*tch take another picture.

"Sheesh, why are you so mad?" Kai muttered in response, as I refused to give him an answer.

He was wearing a form fitting black pain t-shirt that hugged his muscles beautifully and put his tattoos on full display. I wanted to inspect the detailed art on his arm but I knew it would boost his ego if I did, so I refrained from doing so. His black jeans had cutouts that showed his knees and he wore black timberlands.

All this man ever wears it is black--not saying it's not sexy or hot.

"You know any girl would be happy to be in your place." Kai commented, his crimson eyes looking at the side of my face as I looked forward.

"Do I look like I'm part of your fanclub?" I retorted, snorting at his comment about being happy to be in my place.

"You might be keeping it a secret so you can get close to me." Kai said, joking… I think…

"As if. If I liked you I would have shown you that I was interested by now."

"Maybe you're playing hard to get." He said, smirking as if he found the answer.

"In your dreams." I said.

"How'd you know I dream of you?" Kai said, wiggling his eyebrows like a weirdo.

"No comment." I said to which Kai laughed, a laugh that was a bit higher than his deep voice.

Right after I said that the lights started dimming and my uncle appeared in the middle of the gym out of nowhere. What a dramatic entrance.

"Welcome one and welcome all to the first ever assembly of the Academy of All." He said, smoke for some reason covering the floor of the gym.

"Let's get down to business." He said, a powerpoint showing up on a screen.

"School will start tomorrow from 7:00 pm to 3:00 am. A bell schedule has been attached to your schedules and e-"

"Exceeding 15 tardies and 10 absences per semester will be held accountable for by making you make up those hours in seat time." Kai said, saying the exact same lines that my uncle was saying.

"You have his speech mesmerized? Nerd." I said, finding it funny how he said it word for word.

"I've sat through this for the third time now and everytime I get a lot of absences and tardies, the office calls me down and say the same thing." Kai said, scrolling through his phone in low lighting so it wouldn't make a lot of the attention go towards him.

"It's my first year so I had no idea he said the same thing every year but it makes sense." I said, knowing how much it was like my uncle to just repeat his speeches.

"Every semester actually because new students come at the end of a semester and new classes are given. Also, what makes sense?" Kai asked, hearing what I said at the end.

"Oh, nothing. So can you summarize what he's about to say?" I asked, not wanting to hear his speech anymore because 5 minutes in and he's still talking abou attendance.

"Depends. What do I get in return?" He asked, smirking in amusement at me now since he put away his phone.

"Nevermind. Forget I asked."

"Three favors?"

"Nope."

"Two?"

"No."

"One? Take it or leave it."

"How long is the speech for?" I asked, considering my options.

"He'll talk about the same things in so much detail for years."

"What do I get from hearing you summarize though. I'll have to sit here both ways." I said, thinking about how I'm possibly being scammed.

"But you won't have to pay attention and I'll cover for you if you fall asleep."

"Why do you want me to give you a favor so bad?" I asked, wondering what was his deal with wanting me to give him a favor.

"It might come in handy in the future." He said.

I tried concentrating on my uncle and his speech for 5 more minutes, before I decided to give in.

"Okay. I agree."

"It's nice working with you princess." He said, cracking a smile instead of his usual smirk at me as he stuck out his hand to shake with mine.

"Let's pass the handshake part." I said.

"Why? Are you scared you might fall deeper in love with me if you did?" He said, his smirk back.

"No. I just don't know where your hands have been." I said seriously, to which Kai laughed a quiet laugh in response.
