Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

After chasing after the few people loitering the halls while the bell had rang, I was able to pinpoint that I was in the right building. However, I was still clueless about what floor.

"Is it going in ascending order from left to right or descending?" I wondered out loud, as I read the numbers of the classrooms in the hallways.

"Ascending." A deep voice replied, the same one that haunted my dreams.

"Your going to give me a heart attack one day." I said after I yelped in surprise since my guard was down and I didn't notice his presence.

"The bell rang princess. What are you doing in the halls?" Kai asked, standing beside me as I started walking to the right since the room number was 103 and we were currently only at 39.

"Quit following me." I said, noticing how he was following me even after the clear "Leave Me Alone" signal I gave him after I blatantly ignored his question.

"We have the same classes princess so as much as you'd love me to, I'm not following you." Kai said, stopping as I stopped.

"Sure. That's what all the stalkers say. I don't know how you keep finding me." I said noticing how he was purposely stopping and walking right when I did.

Turning a corner I found that there were stairs that I had to ascend to go the next floor and find the class.

Why is there so much walking involved in going to class?

"You can call it fate." He said, winking as he stood in front of me with his dark red t-shirt on and black ripped jeans.

"Wow you wore color for once." I said noticing the red as I continued on with my journey to class.

Okay I think I've got it, I just need to keep going right and going up stairs till I see the class number.

"Does me wearing all black bother you?" He asked, walking besides me with his hands shoved in his pockets.

"What is something about you that doesn't bother me is the real question." I said, replying to him ... slightly only slightly joking.

"Damn princess, that really got to me. I'm probably going to think about it and cry every night now." He said, as we stood a few doors away from our destination.

"That would be a dream come true." I retaliated, standing before the door.

"Are you going to knock for them to open it?" He asked, as I just stared at the door.

"Give me a minute." I said, mentally preparing myself as I knocked.

"The bell rang a few minutes ago. Where have you two been?" She asked, a somewhat fraudulent smile on her face as if she wasn't happy to be here either.

She was a tall women with her brown long hair tightly put into a high ponytail, swaying like a wip when she turned her head abruptly to look at her class and then towards us. She had tanned skin with grey eyes that looked like they needed some sort of sparkle.

"Sorry Mrs. Roberts. I was helping Dove to class since she didn't know where to go." Kai replied, stepping up from behind me.

Helping? Since when. Apart from answering my question that I asked rhetorically he did no such thing.

"I'll take your word for it Kai. I better not see you two being late again. There's a table for two at the back right for you guys to sit at." She said, pointing at the table as I walked there realizing how Kai had just used me as an excuse to not be tardy.

That bastard.

_____

"Why are you frowning?" He asked for the fourth time, throwing a paper ball at me as I frantically jotted down the notes she was writing on the board because we were late and she was starting to erase things.

"Can you quit it." I said, whispering-yelling at him because of how annoying he was being.

"No." He said, straightforwardly as he continued to pester me.

"I said stop." I said, snapping as my eyes flashed red at him.

Oh crap.

"Oh the princess has a dark side." He whispered, his voice smooth but provocative.

"Why do you call me princess?" I questioned, trying to steer the conversation away.

"I'll answer that if you tell me why you were frowning." He said, a smirk cracked on his face.

"Alright." I said.

"What? Alright? Your agreeing?" He asked, shocked that I was so reluctant in agreeing.

"Do you want me to say no?" I said, rolling my eyes at his exaggerated reaction.

"No I just never thought the day you'd agree with me would come." He replied.

"We've known each other for 3 days and I already feel like killing you." I said, a blank expression on my face.

"Is that a pickup line?" He questioned, his eyebrows quirked in question.

"I really think you were dropped from a cliff as a child." I said, highlighting the key information in my notes that were so sloppy.

I'll have to rewrite them after school.

"You flatter me princess." He said, the conversation going to random topics that weren't even initially being talked about.

"So are you going to tell me why you call me princess?" I asked, going back to the initial topic we were talking about.

"If you tell me why you were frowning." He said, playing with the pencil in his hands.

"You first." I said, beating him to it.

"How do I know your going to keep your word?" He questioned, now doodling at the side of my paper.

"You'd probably bug me till I die if I did." I said, pushing his hands away as he started writing "i love kai" in dark bold letters at the top of my page.

"Have you seen yourself?" He asked.

"Uhh, why?" I asked, confused on where he was going with his words.

"Because then you would know why." He said, looking at the paper as he said it.

Is he saying... I'm pretty?

"Are you saying I'm pretty..?" I asked, voicing out the question I was wondering.

"Pretty? I never said that. The better adjective in that place would be average. What I meant was the way you dress and act is kind of like royalty but minus the uptight behavior and manners." He said.

"So your saying I act like a spoiled brat?" I questioned, confirming his implication.

"Pretty much." He said, nodding in agreement.

"Well, if I thought you couldn't be more of an a** I was completely wrong." I mumbled in response, feigning offense that he would call me a brat.

I mean it wasn't the worst thing I've been called, but damn. A spoiled brat? Out of everything he called me that.

"It's okay princess, everyone has flaws and you just have a major one." He said.

"Is this the way you smooth talk your way with the ladies?" I asked, scooting away from him in his attempt to counsel me with a side hug/pat.

"No. My looks do all that." He said, flexing as if I cared.

"Mhm." I said, nodding my head in agreement as I started to lose interest in interacting with him considering how cocky he was.

"You surely didn't think it was your turn, right?" He said nudging me after I ignored his question.

"I just don't like you and your face, that's why." I replied, straightforwardly breaking to him the answer to his question.

Okay I lied about not liking his face but his personality did need some help. And no I didn't forget about the ONE time he helped me but that doesn't make up for the 100 times he's been an a** to me in the past 3 days. I might act rude and sarcastic towards him, but Kai was usually the reason behind it (because I AM normally nice I swear).

"Your lying." He said.

"No. Sorry to break it to you, but I'm not charmed by your words or your appearance. Now leave me alone before I bite off your face." I said, catching his hand midair as he started poking me.

"Is that a sexual innuendo?" He asked.

"What the- NO." I said, a bit too loud I guess.

"Kai and Dove. Would you like to tell the class whats so interesting that your interpreting my class? I'll see you both at detention during lunch. Be sure to bring your lunch because you will be staying till the end." She said, not even waiting for a response as she went back to teaching.

"I f*cking hate you." I said, throwing him a glare as I went back to taking notes and now sulking about the lecture I'm about to receive when my dad hears about this.
