"Maybe I should've asked where the bathroom was before I ran out of there." I mumbled, walking around the halls with the bathroom pass in my pocket in case someone asked if I was skipping or had permission to leave class.
I looked around, walking down the halls that opened up to areas that I hadn't been to.
I finally got down in what order the doors were going but I had no idea which place was the bathroom.
Maybe I should just walk around the halls for a bit and walk back to class since I didn't have to really go to the bathroom.
After making that conclusion and deciding to not go on an adventure that would surely get me lost, I heard a voice.
"Yes Beth, if you could move my meeting that'd be great." A deep voice that was bit on the higher side said.
When I heard his voice echo off of the walls of the silent hallway, I knew it was my uncle right away.
Call me a coward or whatever but I'm not going near him after I just got a lunch detention because he'd probably try to psychoanalyze me and figure out that I had a detention before he could've found it in my records or something.
And my uncle is the biggest snitch of them all, especially if it's to my expense.
"Sh*t." I cursed, colorful words coming out of my mouth as I spotted a door that was slightly opened and that had no numbers like 103 on it but instead had "J3".
Please don't be the boys bathroom.
Giving a quick peek inside to see that the room was dark, I decided it was safe to say that it wasn't a bathroom and immediately went inside, closing the door behind me.
The room was dark but I could still make out the cleaning supplies that were around me and a person?
"Kai?" I questioned, spotting him in the corner of the room as he stared at me.
"Princess? What are you doing in here?" He asked, a confused expression on his face.
"I could ask you the same question." I said, placing my ear on the door to hear for any noises while I kept my voice low.
"Are they gone?" Kai asked.
"Yeah I think so." I said, not longer hearing his voice or the sound of footsteps.
"Are you hiding in here too?" I questioned, waiting a minute before I exited the room and went back to class.
"Yeah, I was about to ditch the rest of the day but I saw the headmaster on the stairs so I ran here to hide." He said, explaining his actions.
"Okay I think the coast is clear." I said, trying to open the door.
I kept pulling and turning the handle but it wouldn't budge.
"Uh it won't open." I said, announcing to him that I couldn't get the door open.
I know what some of you would be thinking. I'm weak and can't open a door and need a man to help me. But I swear to you I put my whole body weight into it and it still didn't budge.
"Princess, you closed the door." He said, realizing what was happening.
"What?" I questioned, confused.
What did I do?
"When you entered the room, did you close the door behind you?" He asked, sitting back down on one of the buckets in the janitors room (I think).
"Yeah..." I said, confused on what was happening.
Am I not allowed to close doors?
"The janitor room and teacher lounge doors automatically close and are resistant to magic or any type of force applied to it so it can't break and the only way to open the door is with a key, which the janitors and teachers have." He said, summing about what was happening.
"That means we're locked in here?" I asked.
"Pretty much." He replied.
Now is the time to panic.
"Wait I think I can get us out of here." I said, calming myself before I started panicking over the situation.
Opening up my contacts, I clicked on Zoras name and started typing. After a serious of "Hello??", "SOS", "HELP", and other spam messages and missed calls, I realized that Zora was no help.
What could she possibly be doing???
Deciding to alternate and text and call Ariel instead, I was met with the same result.
"I'm so sorry Kai." I said, spilling out a series of apologies at the realizations that not only did I get myself in here but also locked Kai in here as well.
"I'm so stupid. I didn't realize the doors lock like that and my friends won't respond and now we're stuck here and it's not even your fault we're in here but mine and now we're probably going to die here till the janitor finds our bones-" I said, going in a rant about how stupid I was and how I had just guided me and Kai to our inevitable doom even though we probably weren't going to die here since we both weren't humans who relied so heavily on water and food to survive.
"Princess, it's okay. You didn't mean it." Kai said, his face in front of me as his hands were placed on both of my shoulders as if trying to knock some sense into me.
"I know. I just feel bad." I said, calming my nerves.
"We're probably going to be here for a while so might get comfortable." Kai said, moving aside some things on the floor as he sat down on it instead of the bucket.
"Just sit down princess." He said as I paced the area with my thoughts and brain screaming at me.
"Okay." I said, plopping down besides him as our shoulders touched.
"I'm sorry." I said after a pregnant silence had taken over.
"You already apologized and I said it's okay." He replied, his face turned towards me as I continued looking forwards.
"Not for locking us in here. For yelling at you when it wasn't your fault." I replied.
"For the detention? It's okay I deserved it." Kai replied.
"No, you didn't. It was pretty mean of me to yell at you for that and judge you off your reputation of sleeping with girls. I just never got a detention before and I didn't know how to act." I explained.
"You never got a detention before?" He questioned.
"Nope never. I've always been homeschooled and pretty much always followed the rules so I've never done anything to get one." I replied.
"It's okay. I wasn't mad at you." Kai said back, his voice not that far away from me.
"I would've been." I said, playing with the choker on my neck in order to do something with my hands.
"I was being pretty annoying. I just don't have friends which is explanatory because of my reputation around here." Kai said, his voice low as we whispered in the dark room because the light apparently didn't turn on.
"At this point in time, I don't have friends either." I said.
"Do you want to be friends?" Kai asked, after a new wave of silence had taken over.
"Why do you want to be friends?" I questioned, seriously curious.
Call me insecure but I saw no point in why he wanted to be my friend. I got why Ariel and Zora did: because we were roommates. But Kai? Not so much. Maybe it has to do with us being paired together. Who knows? He does. That's why I'm asking.
"So I can sleep with you." He said sarcastically, poking fun at me because of my words earlier in the day.
"Well why didn't you tell me that earlier, I could've saved you some time in trying and slept with you the day we met." I replied, sarcasm in my words but not showing up in my tone because I was fluent in it at this point.
"Really?"
"No." I said, turning down any ideas he might have plotted in his mind.
"Because you talk to me like I'm a person." Kai announced.
"Hm?"
"You asked why I want to be friends and that's the reason."
"Because I talk to you like a person?" I questioned.
"Yeah. I don't really have friends and nobody really tries to be my friend. When I entered school people usually avoided me because I looked scary then they tried to be my friend so they could look cool or try to sleep with me. You didn't do that. Yeah, you were new but I'm guessing you heard the second day or so about my reputation but you still talked to me the same way and didn't switch up."
"Wow that was so emotional I might cry." I said.
"Shut up." He replied, igniting a fit of laughter to erupt from me.
