"It is your first day and you're already picking a fight with someone?" He asked as I sat down in a chair in the darkly lit room, as if it wasn't an office but a liar.
I could see his golden eyes shining in the dark along with his slightly afire horns with nothing else in sight but if I tried hard enough, I could make out his figure creeping in the shadows as if he was trying to intimidate me or something.
"Maybe I was. Maybe I was not." I said, getting comfortable in the seat because I had a hunch that it might take a while.
"There's no point in denying it, I saw everything happening." He said, his figure right in front of me now.
"So you must know he started it, right? Unless you're going to act like you removed that part from your memory as if it did not happen just to spite me." I said, knowing far too well about how he was like behind his image of an honorable, powerful man.
"Depends on how you behave." He said, acting as if I didn't know that he would act like I was the sole cause of the argument and not the bigot outside.
"I feel so welcomed to be here." I muttered, not caring about what way he looked at the situation anymore because he couldn't do anything to me.
As I looked closer, I could sense that the person I was talking to in front of me was not the real person. At first it was a gut feeling that told but as I looked at him, the lines making out his figure were a bit hazy and appeared as if it was a conjuring of a clone and not the real replica of the person I was supposed to be talking to.
"Am I talking to a clone right now?" I asked, figuring out what was going on right now.
"So your attitude isn't the only thing that has grown but also your brain?" He said, answering my question indirectly.
"No, you've just lost your magical touch." I replied, shooting down his implication that I was dumb before.
"Maybe I have, but I can sense that your power has grown." He answered.
"Why are you cloning yourself?" I asked, confused on why he was doubling himself in the first place.
"Well, I am a busy man."
"Can you just answer the questions and stop being ambiguous about everything you say?" I asked, annoyed at how he appeared to lack the ability to just answer the questions I asked.
"That wouldn't be fun." He replied cheekily.
"Are you talking to that boy from outside?" I asked, throwing out my guess on why he was a clone.
"Perhaps, I am."
"I hate that man and I don't even know him." I answered, remembering what happened a few minutes ago.
"Well you might want to get used to him." He said.
"Why?" I asked, not liking the suggestion he was making.
"Well, you'll see that soon enough." He answered, smiling at me creepily in the dark.
"I'm just going to ignore what you just said." I answered, not caring much about asking me anything since he obviously wasn't going to tell me anything.
"Also can you stop your creepy sh*t and tell me whatever I needed to know. I have a life that doesn't consist of scaring little kids in a dark room like someone else." I said, getting annoyed at the sing-song way he was phrasing his words as if toying with me. Not only that, I didn't necessarily feel happy when I had to talk to him.
"Now that isn't a great way to talk to your uncle, is it?" He asked.
"If you acted like an uncle, maybe." I replied, not caring if he thought my way of talking to him was disrespectful.
To some I would be disrespecting him, but my family is more complicated than what an average family.
"Tsk tsk tsk. Well, let's get to business then." He said, light now filtering through the room and making me squint in order to adjust to the change in lighting.
He had black hair with horns protruding out of his head. To some the horns would signify ultimate power and form but he just did that as his way of showing power, but in reality he wasn't as powerful as for example my father and I. He had a pale face and golden eyes that were much more golden than mine since mine was mixed with a tad bit of brown as well.
"You know you're not supposed to tell anyone who you are right?" He asked while handing me a paper with my schedule.
"Why else am I going by Dove?" I answered back with a question instead since what he asked was pretty obvious.
"Here's your key to your dorm, a map, and your schedule is in your hand. There's an assembly today in the gym, there's no excuse for not being there. If you don't behave I'll have to report to your father of your misbehavior." He said, his voice no longer full of mockery but serious.
"Geez, you're as fun as I remember." I muttered in response to his threat.
"Also, don't tell anyone you're related to me. It'll be seen as me favoring you and that won't look good on my image in the academy." He said, finishing up with the information he had to tell me.
"Not like I was planning on doing that." I replied.
"Also, I have a surprise for you after the assembly." He said, a smile resembling one of a psychopath's on his face.
"Should I be scared?" I asked, knowing damn well this wasn't one of those normal surprises.
"Nope, think of it as my appreciation for you."
"Wow, I'm looking forward to it now." I said sarcastically, faking a smile.
"Oh, I forgot to ask. How is your—"
Before he got finish the question that I had no mood in answering, I quickly left the room.
When I exited his room, the unknown guy from earlier wasn't there, confirming my suspicions and my uncle's answer.
---
I stared at the door, contemplating opening it and entering the place that I would be stuck in for the whole school year. At the door, it listed 4 names, one of them being mine and the others being "Ariel", Stephanie", and "Zora".
Hesitantly, I knocked on the door, waiting for someone to let me in. The building that I was in, 2C, was a few minutes away from the office, so I was getting pretty tired of carrying the suitcase in my hand and looking like a lunatic.
"Is anyone going to let me in?" I muttered.
"SHES HERE SHES HERE!" Someone yelled from inside as I heard a series of footsteps coming towards the door.
"I'm so sorry. You must be Dove." One of the girls said said, pieces of her curly long dark black hair in her face as if she went through a storm to get to the door. On top of her head were two cute black wolf ears.
"I'm Zora, one of your roommates." She said, smiling a sweet smile as she assured me in. She was pretty with her dark skin highlighting her green eyes and her slender tall frame.
"Oh my god your so pretty!" Another girl said, sticking her head from behind Zora as she got close to me and stared at me.
"Okay Ariel, what did we practice about not scaring away the poor girl." Zora said, talking to Ariel I believe.
Ariel was beautiful as well, her red hair cut to her shoulders in straight locks. She had fair skin, contrasting with her bright red locks. She was petite, similar to me, with dark brown eyes that shined in excitement.
"What? I'm telling the truth." She said, her sweet smile still on her face.
"Ahaha it's all good." I said, reassuring Zora that I didn't mind how Ariel was inspecting me.
"Kittens or puppies?" She randomly asked, a serious look on her face.
"Both?" I answered, confused on why she was asking me that.
"Okay you passed! I'm Ariel and I think we are going to be best friends." She said, her smile covering her face as she shook my hand in a form of greeting.
"So did you forget about me now" Zora asked.
"Shh me and Dove are bonding." She said before staring at me.
After a while of staring, she bursted into laughter followed with me and Zara's because of the strange nature of this situation.
"I think we all will be great friends." Ariel said before ushering me inside the room.
