Elle sat on her wooden chair, staring out the window opening in her kitchen. The sun was barely beginning to rise. Birds started to chirp and the sun beamed through, making her home feel so warm. Days like this she missed her husband. Joseph, what would you do? She thought to herself. She didn't know how to bring it up to Arakna, but she wanted to understand. Just then she heard a thud near her home. Steps started heading toward when she saw Arakna walk by the opening, heading to the entrance. Arakna stopped when she entered, her glistening silver-purplish hair flowing to one side. Her wings had completely healed by now, silver with black tips. Arakna's eyes were colorful, purple, black, and red, but when Elle stared a bit longer, she could see speckles of gold.
Arakna saw Elle staring, it made her uneasy. Not that she minded, but she was unsure what Elle thought of her.
"You can come in." Elle broke the silence.
Arakna looked at Elle's braided brown hair, pulled up into a bun. Her brown eyes were warm, but stern. She watched Elle frown and shift in her chair. Did Elle hate her or that demon more? She wondered.
"I'm sorry." Elle blurted. "I've never really been around your kind and the way you looked scared me. What you did to that demon felt very wrong, but I get that your kinds world is not that of a humans."
Arakna stared blankly at her, no emotions for Elle to read. Just silence.
"Well say something." Elle pleaded.
Arakna tilted her head in confusion, "Like what?" She finally asked.
Elle knew this was the moment. She had to know more about Arakna.
"How did you get out of your prison and why can't you take off your chains?" She asked pointing at the rusted metal around Arakna's ankles and wrist.
Arakna leaned back, quietly observing Elle when the she said, "I don't know who saved me. I was a prisoner in a pitch black cell, when I saw light, it hurt my eyes. When I did see light, I knew I'd be tortured. My wings were broken multiple times and put back in place, I had my feathers ripped out one by one, my fingers and toes broken repeatedly, I was touched when and how I would never wish upon you. Who saved me you ask? I do not ask who, I ask why?"
Elle held her breath in shock. Arakna looked perfectly fine, but then it hit her. Why would Arakna be more concerned as to why she was saved instead of thanking her rescuer?
"Why ask why?" She asked.
"Everything is strategy in my world, if I was released, it was to gain something. If it's for good or evil, I do not know. What I do know, was that there is a plan in place."
"What is the plan?"
"That's what I intend to find out."
Elle felt that pushing for more answers on Arakna's imprisonment was a bad idea, but she now understood why Arakna hated being touched. She, too, had experienced unwanted touch. She did want to know one last thing close to her time being stuck though.
"Why can't you take off those chains?"
"If I could, I would. Unfortunately, these chains are made from Heavens metal. Only an angels weapon can pierce it. Worst off, these demons casted this. It is an angel and demon's work that created these."
"Does that means a traitor to you?"
"I can't tell you." Arakna sat back.
"Why not?"
"-because if a demon tortures you, you'll open your mouth."
Elle's face flustered, feeling hot with anger, "I would not."
Arakna's eyes swirled with more red, "-and what if they ripped your boy piece by piece?"
Elle stood up from her chair, "Are you threatening me?"
Arakna's eyes turned more purple again. "No. I just understand demons better than you."
Elle stared at Arakna and slowly sat back into her chair. She wanted to trust Arakna. There was something that made her feel safe around her, but something also felt dangerously unpredictable.
Elle placed her hands over her face and sighed, "A part of me is scared of you, but a part of me believes you and wants to help you."
Arakna stared blankly at her again.
Elle shook her head, "Like now! I can't tell what you're thinking. You show very little emotions. I can't even tell what you feel."
"What I feel?"
Elle felt like she was finally starting to understand. What if Arakna didn't understand emotions or feelings? What if Arakna has no idea what it was? Maybe that's why she was so confused on what to think of Arakna. Did this halfbreed really not understand feelings and only act by thought?
