Elle thought for a moment, "Arakna..." the sound of her voice faded, unsure of what to ask.
Arakna sat there quietly. These humans were confusing to her. First Elle is afraid, but then says she feels safe. Very contradictory with her words Arakna thought.
"When you were killing that demon, what did you feel?"
"I don't understand."
"Were you angry? Furious?"
Arakna stared off for a moment, "I saw red. There was a burning in my chest and I was breathing fast. I don't know how I felt, but what I knew was that I didn't want to deal with a low level demon. I figured I'd save time and break him apart fast. When I did that though-" Arakna paused unsure if she'd scare Elle again.
"Go on..." Elle reassured her.
"I wanted to see his flesh scatter amongst the trees. I wanted the air to wreak of his blood. I wanted to hear him scream and choke-"
"Alright! What a fun morning we are having!" Elle interrupted as she saw Ian walking in, scratching his head.
"Mom, did you do the big person talk already?" Ian asked groggily.
"Yes dear" she replied and kissed his forehead.
"Should I continue?" Arakna asked.
"Good heavens no! I think that'll be it." She said giggling awkward and looking away.
"Perhaps you should get cleaned up after your long night?" Elle asked Arakna.
Arakna was now even more confused by this human. What was she getting at? These feelings she keeps bringing up. Arakna sighed, getting up, saying no word and leaving to get washed up. She'd forgotten she had dried blood on her. Was Elle stopping their conversation because Ian walked in? Was that a form of protection? Arakna prepared her water. She started to take off the shirt when Elle walked behind her.
Elle had grabbed more of her late husband's, Joseph, clothes. Tearing the back to allow Arakna's wings to go through she glanced up to see Arakna's disfigured back. Her skin look almost like a terrible burn scar, but almost as if it was mutilated. She dropped the clothes and turned, "I am so sorry! I'll get you a new pair." She knelt down, scrambling to pick up the clothes.
"It's fine. I'll dirty these anyways." Arakna said while picking up the clothes. "Thank you."
With that, Elle left embarrassed. She walked in to find Ian scarfing down his breakfast. "Doh yah dink Adakna we yeave?" He asked.
Elle smiled, "Don't talk with your mouth full dear." She looked out at the now lit up trees. How could a world be so beautiful and yet so cruel she wondered. She knew Arakna would leave, she just didn't know when.
Arakna must've gone through so much. So much torture, she thought as her eyes watered. Ian watched his mom wipe her eyes, "Are you okay mom?"
"Yes dear." Elle lied.
"You miss dad again?" He asked hopping off his chair and hugging Elle.
Elle hugged him back, "It's okay Ian, mommy will be okay. Alright?"
Ian looked up at her and smiled. With that he sat back down and ate more.
Elle watched her precious boy eat. His short dirty blonde hair and is curious brown eyes reminded her of Joseph. Her thoughts trailed back to Arakna. She was pretty sure that angels don't really have emotions. Somehow Arakna becoming a halfbreed allowed her to feel more than she understood.
Considering Arakna was found when she'd recently escaped meant to Elle that Arakna had no experience of enotions. 'But if I was an angel and I was tortured, I'd want to kill and I'd hate demons ' Elle thought to herself.
The thing Elle was concerned about was that the first emotions Arakna probably felt weren't love, patience, or kindness. No, sadly it must've been hate, loath, rage, and a lust for blood. I wonder if I'm teaching her anything? She asked to herself.
