Along with magical qualities, Midnight Matter became a material used in weapons, giving them magical properties. Eventually, an art was formed and a new culture was formed around it. However, people began letting the Midnight Matter overcome their mind and bodies, becoming amalgamations called demons. Will Aster achieve his dream of achieving a hero's legacy?

Chapter 1 - The Harbor Part 1

"In this world, there exists weapons that gift their users with magic and supernatural abilities, allowing some to bend elements or change properties. The exact origin of these blades aren't common knowledge but they have a connection to the sinking," the elderly man reminisced, sitting down on floor of the boat's hull. The other occupants of the small boat consisted of two boys and a girl

"We know that already, old man," a crass orange tunic wearing boy stated.

Turning towards the boy, the girl snapped, "leave him alone!"

"Or what?"

looking up, the old man yelled, "enough, both of you!" They snapped quiet and store up quietly. "Let me double check your files. Orange shirt, what's your name?"

"Jawed Green, for the third time," he said, scowling at the calm and well dressed elder.

"Your name, girl," the elder said, looking up at the calm girl sitting on her knees with her eyes closed.

"Rosie Flores," she affirmed, still keeping her eyes closed.

Chalking the two names down on a clipboard, the elder finally store at the last occupant of the boat and said, "name?"

Standing quietly, and with a neutral expression on his face, the last boy said, "Aster Sace." The elder clicked his pen and set the paper in a nearby cabinet.

"Alright," the elder confirmed, "we should be arriving at the mainland any minute now." Eventually, multiple docked boats emerged from the faint fog.

"When you arrive at the Harbor, you will take various physical and phychological tests, along with a connection test to determine which kind of midnight weapon would be best for you," the elder informed, keeping a lazy vibe about him, is eyes keeping a constant sleepy look about them.

"I hope I get an axe," Jawed stated, "I'd look cool with one, right? Aster?" Aster didn't respond, only staring out towards the Harbor as the giant base's figure came into vision. "Aster? Back me up, after all, we're both from Marylebone!"

"So?" Aster asked, looking back at him. "We're here to start a new life."

"That doesn't mean you need to leave your old one behind," Jawed challenged, "not like you could."

"I only intend on being this with me to my new life," Aster stated, flashing a blue sheath, with the handle of an aqua colored blade waiting patiently in it. "This was a gifted to me, by someone very special."

Unimpressed, Jawed shrugged and said, "I'm not impressed by some sword." Aster didn't respond, only looking away. "Loosen up, man. I'm just messing with you." The boat abruptly bumped into an oak dock, almost knocking everyone over, except for the old man, who stayed still, like a rock.
