"Class D aren't treated equal here in the Harbor," the girl stated, "we don't even get to fight the demons."
"What do you mean we aren't treated equal?" Aster questioned.
Walking over to her bunk, the girl said, "as you can see, we are confined to this single room as our dorm, and we have to do menial chores to earn money."
"Wait, menial chores?"
The girl arched forward with her elbows sitting on her knees, she said, "you really don't know how the Harbor works?"
"No, not really," Aster admitted.
"Fine," the girl stated, "in every society, there is a hierarchy. The powerful and skillful are at the top, and the weak are at the bottom. While Class A lives in fancy dorms with their own rooms, we live in—this place."
"I guess—I'll just have to work up from the bottom them," Aster thought. He looked towards the girl and asked, "by the way, what's your name? I don't want to be strangers if we're going to be here for a while."
"My name is Paisley, Paisley Bell, you are?"
"Aster Sace."
"Okay Aster, where are you from?" Paisley asked.
Aster looked over and questioned, "why?"
"I'm just curious, you weren't born on the mainland, were you?"
"I'm from an island called Marylebone," Aster said, "what about you?"
Folding her sheets, Paisley said, "I was born here, on the the mainland, from a city called New London. It's not too far from here."
After a few seconds of watching her fold her sheets, Aster asked, "which bunk is open?" She pointed to the top one on the corner.
"Any except for this one and that one by the corner. There's aren't a lot of Class D this month."
The elevator door opened and a boy with long curly hair walked into the dorms and announced, "hey Paisley, what's up!"
"There's a new guy, Yarrow," Paisley informed, a coy smile emerged onto her face as he entered the room.
"Oh," Yarrow said, "oh hey, new guy!" He ran over and shook Aster's hand. "What's your name?"
"Aster Sace, I'm from the island of Marylebone."
"Cool, you're new right? I'll show you around when I can!" Yarrow declared.
"Oh—okay," Aster stuttered.
"Hey Yarrow, could you not scare the new guy please?"
Rubbing his head, Yarrow said, "oh yeah, sorry about that!"
"Alright guys, I'm going to bed," Paisley, "and if you wake me up, I'll kill you."
"Okay, I guess we're all going to bed then!" Yarrow declared. In an instant, the lights were off and they were in their bunks.
"It feels strange, this is class D, these two people? That's it? And they didn't even ask about my midnight weapon. Do they have no connection to theirs like me?"
