The next day, Aster sat in his wheelchair in the small patch of trees next to his inherited house. The sun now shined on the previously havoc filled ground.
"Okay, let's start with the basics," Conduit suggested, "try shooting a bolt of electricity at a tree."
"What about changing forms?" Aster asked, thinking about being able to walk again.
Conduit sighed and stubbornly informed, "Aster, if you master your blade, which is me, you may regain the ability to walk.
"Really! How?" Aster yelped in surprise, his eyes stabbing their gaze into Conduit.
"Well, electricity is used to transfer data and information right? If you manage to create a way for a constant stream of even small amounts of electricity, you could create an electrical highway so that the information from your brain can freely make it to and control your legs," The sword explained, "but it's just a theory."
"So someday, I might be able to walk again?"
Conduit said, "It's just a theory, but we won't be able to confirm if it's possible if you keep on just sitting here wasting your life!"
"Okay okay," Aster reluctantly submitted, aiming the tip of the blade at an old spruce tree, its pines a bright yellow. After a few seconds, Aster informed, "nothing is happening."
"I see that," Conduit curtly assessed. "You're not doing anything so I can't do anything."
Aster made a confused glare and asked, "What do you mean? You're the weapon, I thought you were the one that makes it activate."
"It takes two things to activate a midnight weapon and its ability, the weapon, and the user, tell the world that you're going to shoot electricity, and you'll shoot electricity."
"Okay, got it," Aster agreed. He closed his eyes and thought, "world, I'm going to shoot a bolt of electricity, okay?"
"Don't ask it nicely," Conduit ordered.
"You can read my mind?" Aster shrieked, mentally staring Conduit down.
Conduit contended, "yeah, how do you think I can talk with you? It's not like I have a mouth—although, if an electronic speaker or something was right next to me, I could probably send my voice through that."
"That still doesn't explain how you can read my mind."
"Just don't question it dammit! My lord you are whiny, just demand the world to let you shoot that goddamn shot of electricity," Conduit spewed, "shoot now, ask questions later."
Aster grunted and closed his eyes, once again thinking, "world, I am telling you that I am going to shoot electricity out of this blade." Nothing much as a spark emerged. He paused for a second before stating, "I sound ridiculous!"
"You do know I'm the only one that can hear you, right?" Conduit asked, raising one of his nonexistent eyebrows.
Aster once again paused before asking, "what was that liquid that my mother injected me with?"
Realizing that Aster wasn't going to do anything if he didn't tell him, Conduit explained, "I don't know a lot about it, but it's a form of a connector, it allows the injected to use and pressure their weapon way past the point where normal weapons would turn their users into demons."
"That's it?"
"I—can only barely remember, but I'm pretty sure that there's something else... I can't remember though."
"Okay," Aster processed, turning his focus to shooting electricity. He took in a deep breath and thought, "electricity is going to come out of my blade—and strike that tree." The grass next to his wheelchair stuck up as if the ground had goosebumps, a small zap spiked out of the blade, leaving a black burn mark on the tree. His face began to glow as he celebrated, "I—did it!"
