He stood up. His smirk hiding under his mask. Wiping the small amount of blood from his slightly exposed chin. The man that sat in front of him coughed up blood with a sadistic look on his face.
"You thought you could kill me that easily?" He questioned making Jeongguk crack his neck in irritation.
Jeongguk shook his head before leaning down and grabbing the sides of the man's face. The man's eyes widened before giving Jeongguk a pleading look. Even though the man couldn't see it, Jeongguk smiled widely before snapping the man's neck.
Tilting his head, Jeongguk watches the man's lifeless body fall over. He shook his shoulders, releasing the tension that was beginning to build. He sighed as he slid his gloves off and shoved them into the pockets of his coat. Quickly throwing his hood on he walked back home with his head down.
When he arrived home he threw his coat on the couch and flung his mask off. He sighed as he slid his back down the nearest wall, his heart slamming against his ribcage. He was tired and wanted to live a normal life, but couldn't. Not now, that is.
Daeun jumped when someone appeared in front of her. She held her chest while glaring at the person, or well, more like people. Kim Taehyung and Park Jimin stood in front of her with wide smiles on their faces. "Hey, Min Da," Jimin said as he threw his arms around her, giving her a bone-crushing hug.
Daeun couldn't help the small smile that appeared on her face as she wrapped her arms around him. Taehyung pouted and joined the hug, squeezing the both of them. Daeun grunted in pain as she felt one of her ribs crack.
When they both pulled away she was finally able to get a good look at them. They looked great. "Hey guys," She said as she walked in between the two. Taehyung slung his arm over her shoulder, pulling her closer.
He leaned down and pecked her cheek. She blushed at the gesture before swatting at him making both the boys laugh. "I told both of you to stop doing that," She grumbled before shoving Taehyung's arm from her and walking ahead of them.
They both called out to her making her turn around to glance at them. When she turned back around she bumped into somebody. She squeezed her eyes shut as she felt herself falling backward. Two arms wrapped around her small frame, helping her stand back up. When she opened her eyes to thank the person, they were gone.
Daeun turned to look at Taehyung and Jimin to if they had seen who had picked her up, but they were too engaged in a conversation to even realized that she was still next to them. She rolled her eyes and made her way to her homeroom without them. When she entered she noticed that the classroom was empty except for Taehyung cousin, Kim Seokjin, and an unfamiliar face.
The guy looked up a Daeun making her shiver. His eyes were dead and empty. Not a single emotion evident. The longer that they held each other's gaze, the deeper his eyes became. Every time she would look for a small spark of emotion, she would find herself in darkness as if she were in a tunnel.
Daeun was pulled away from the mystery man when Taehyung literally jumped on her. "Why'd you leave us, Da?" He asked with a pout. Daeun smiled at them, ignoring the fact that the mystery man's eyes were still on her.
When she looked back at him she noticed that his eyes were moving across her face. Her brows furrowed as she pulled her attention back to the two males in front of her. "Oh, are you coming with us to the diner later?" Jimin asked as he poked at her side.
Daeun giggled while poking at Jimin. The class began to easily fill up making the crew scramble to their seats. Jeongguk's eyes stayed glued on Daeun. He couldn't help himself. Daeun noticed his gaze making her stiffen. She slowly turned her head to peek at him. Jeongguk forced himself to smile at her making her smile. He turned his attention towards the person who was in front of him.
"Hey, you must be the new student here," Mina asked.
Daeun scrunched her nose at the sight of Mina.
Mina was the girl in school that slept with anyone. She frequently flaunted this fact, earning herself a terrible reputation. Taehyung noticed her change in mood and looked at who she was looking at.
"Ah, Mina?" He asked Daeun making her nod her head in agreement. "It's alright, Da, you gotta let it go eventually," He claimed.
Daeun tore her gaze away from Mina and onto Taehyung. Her eyes were icy and cold as she glared sharply at him. "I don't have to let shit go," She snapped making a few close-by heads turn towards them. "Got it?" She asked. Taehyung nodded his head and hung his head low.
She placed her head against the desk and sighed. "It's not your fault, Tae, and I'm sorry that I snapped like that, but you of all people, should know that I will never 'get over' what she did to me," Daeun said. Taehyung apologized quietly before turning around in his seat and looking at the teacher.
"Good Morning, students," He chirped. "Ah. I see that our new student is here," He said making all eyes turn to Jeongguk and Mina who was still attempting to flirt with him but he was giving her any attention, infuriating her. "Stand and introduce yourself, young man," The teacher pressed making Jeongguk sigh.
Nevertheless, he stood and looked over the classroom. Jeongguk glared at Mina making her sink into her seat. He was exhausted with females constantly approaching him. "Hello, my name is Jeon Jeongguk, nice to meet you all," He bowed politely before falling back into his seat.
Mr. Jung smiled in approval before turning towards the board and writing notes. Daeun felt a rush of anxiousness rush through her body as her leg bounced up and down. "Relax," Jimin whispered from beside her.
She jumped and looked over at him to see him smiling softly at her. She breathed out a quiet laugh before slapping his thigh softly. "You scared me," She whispered back.
"What are we whispering about?" Taehyung asked turning his head to look at his two best friends.
Daeun smirked at him before flicking his forehead. "Oh, just how ugly you are," He narrowed his eyes at her before catching her wrist as she pulled it away and bent her finger backward. He smirked.
She hissed at him before kicking his shins from under the desk. Taehyung squeezed his eyes shut, biting his lip, preventing himself from making any sound. "Oops, sorry I didn't see you there."
Jimin slapped Daeun's neck making her yelp. The teacher snapped his head towards the three. They all pretended to continue to copy the notes on the board. He glared at them. Taehyung tried his hardest to hold in his laughter but failed miserably when he released a loud laugh making Daeun and Jimin follow his action. "What do you three find so funny?" Mr. Jung barked.
Taehyung wiped a stray tear that fell from his eye. "Oh, that was hilarious. Sorry, sir, but has anyone ever told you that you look constipated when you attempt to glare at people?" Daeun howled in laughter, struggling to catch her breath. The entire class broke out in laughter watching her double over. "Breathe, Da," Taehyung laughed.
"Mr. Kim, Mr. Park, and Ms. Min get out of my classroom. Now!" He yelled making some of the students jump.
Daeun stood up still holding her stomach and laughing. "Yeah, yeah. This isn't our first rodeo, y'know," She joked but that only seemed to anger Mr. Jung even more.
"You low-lives need to learn your place," Mina said loud enough for the entire class to here. Everyone stared at her in shock. "Especially you, Min Daeun," She hissed.
Daeun's eye twitched in anger. "Watch what you say, Mina," Jimin intruded with a heated glare.
Mina giggled at him and batted her lashes. "Well, well, well. Jimin last time I checked you weren't her friend," Her eyes widened as a devilish look appeared in her eyes. "Oh, speaking of friends, how's your brother?" She asked her eyes directed at Daeun.
That was all it took for Daeun to lash out. She released a warrior cry and threw herself at Mina. Mina screamed as Daeun assaulted her. Punch after punch, Daeun refused to stop. Jeongguk wrapped his arms around Jaemin's waist tearing her off of Mina.
Sitting up, Mina spat out blood. "Like I said. You fucking low-lives need to learn your damn place!" She yelled.
Daeun laughed as if that was the funniest thing she's ever heard. Jeongguk tighten his grip on her waist when she attempted to jump back on Mina. "And you wh*res need to learn how to keep your legs shut," She snapped making Mina's mouth drop.
"You don't know what you're talking about," Mina spat.
Daeun raised a brow and pointed an accusing finger at Mina but before she could go further the teacher stepped in. "Another word from either of you, you'll both be expelled. Don't try me," He said sternly looking at both of them. "I want you three out of my classroom still. And someone take Mina to the nurse," He announced but no one made a move to take her to the nurse.
Jeongguk pulled Daeun out of the classroom, Taehyung and Jimin trailing behind.
"Damn, Da, I haven't seen you jump someone like that in years," Taehyung jokingly said.
Jeongguk released her making her look at him with a small smile. He stared at her in confusion. "Thanks, because if you didn't pull me off I probably wouldn't have stopped," She said honestly.
Jeongguk shook his head and placed his hand in her hair, ruffling it. She swatted his hand away making him laugh softly. "Don't worry about it. As much as I'm sure everyone in the class would've liked to see her ass get whipped, I didn't want the blood on my desk," He said making her frown. "See you later," He waved off, walking back into the classroom.
Jimin grabbed Daeun's shoulders forcing her to look at him. "You know he is going to call your father," He said making Daeun's face drop in horror. "Maybe you shouldn't go home tonight," He suggested.
Daeun instantly shook her head leaving both Jimin and Taehyung confused. "It'll only make it worse," She whispered. "I'll go home tonight."
Taehyung and Jimin gave her a sympathetic look. "Let's go get something to eat before you go home, yeah?" Taehyung offered. Daeun nodded her head before following them out of the building.
Jeongguk grew with curiosity as he stood next to the door, listening to their conversation. The teacher gave him an odd look, which Jeongguk ignored and sat back down. Mina was gone and the class resumed as normal.
When school was released Jeongguk began walking home. Taking his time. Exploring the streets. Enjoying the scenery of a beautiful autumn afternoon. He looked down at his hands before balling them into fists and releasing an irritated sigh. "Just who the hell are you, Min Daeun?" He asked as he looked up into the sky.
When Daeun got home her entire body shook in fear. Her dad's car was parked outside. He was never home this early. The instant she opened the door, the smell of alcohol hit her nose making her cringe. Her father's eyes snapped towards her making her involuntary flinch. He smirked at her response. "Has my daughter been a bad girl today?" He slurred.
She shook her head. "No?" He questioned while tilting his head. She shook her head again. "Then why the fuck did I get a call from the school saying you got into another fight?!" He screamed throwing his beer bottle towards her head.
Daeun was quick to dodge it. He swung at her hitting her directly in the face. She howled in pain. He laughed mockingly at her as he continued his assault until she was coughing up blood and begging him to stop. When she sat up he grabbed a handful of her ponytail, forcing her face closer to his. "Get out of my sight and don't come back," He spat. Daeun quickly nodded her head.
He tossed her. She scrambled to her feet and rushed outside. She thanked the lords that it was dark enough outside so her face wasn't as noticeable. Daeun hugged herself as a breeze flew past her. She didn't expect it to be this cold out tonight. She walked out of her driveway and down the street, not once sparing a glaring back.
When she arrived at the cafe down the street she entered it without a second thought. The cafe was pretty much empty besides a young female in a booth in the back and of course the owner. Daeun has known the owner since she was a young girl and she knew all about what Daeun goes through at home.
"Daeun, darling, it's good to s-" Hyuna stopped speaking when she saw the blood and bruises on Daeun face. "Omo! What did he do this time?" Hyuna asked as she hopped over the counter, rushing towards Daeun.
Daeun flinched when Hyuna went to grab her face. "Can we talk somewhere private?" Hyuna nodded her head and led Daeun to the break room. Once Daeun was seated Hyuna left to grab the materials to treat her wounds. Daeun would hiss in pain every couple of seconds. As Hyuna finished, Daeun couldn't help but allow a single tear to shed.
Hyuna frowned down at Daeun before pulling her into a tight hug. She simply cried into Hyuna's shirt. Hyuna's phone blared throughout the room making Jaemin jump away from her. Hyuna apologized before walking out of the room with her phone to her ear.
Daeun, for the first time in a long time, felt completely empty. She had lost all hope the day her mother and brother left her there with that man. Hyuna was the only one who knew by choice. Jimin and Taehyung had figured it out on their own when they saw her walking on their side of town with her face bruised and bloody as well as her shirt torn. They've been trying to protect her but they can only do so much.
Daeun left a note for Hyuna saying that she'd be back and was going for a walk. She walked around debating on whether to call Taehyung and Jimin. She sighed, realizing that her phone was dead. A loud scream echoed through the air making Daeun jump. She turned towards the noise taking cautious steps towards the scream.
Another scream erupted making her legs move faster. The sight in front of her made her stomach turn and bile rise in her throat. Blood was splattered everywhere. A man stood there looking down at the lifeless body on the floor. The woman that was balled up against the wall scrambled away with tears streaming down her face.
She bowed toward the man standing up before continuing to run away. Daeun walked closer to the man, trying to see his face. Curiosity took over her body. She tapped his shoulder making her turn his head to glance at Daeun. She furrowed her brows when she came face to face with a bunny mask.
