"I'm gonna do it..I'm gonna do it tonight's the night I'll kill him.."
Devany hands that held the sliver knife trembled, she looked at the window, the moon was up and all the workers had gone to bed.
Now was her time to strike.
She needed to escape, she needed to leave this cage called castle, she wanted to get her freedom back away from the man that held her captive.
The fear and anxiety she was feeling had double, she gripped the knife tightly and stood up abruptly.
Nothing was going to stop her today, she was going to kill him.
Tying the knife to her waist and she opened the door and slipped out of the room. She was not allowed to move as she pleased in the castle, it was either she came down for breakfast or she spent the rest of her days in her room.
She looked left and right searching for any servant that might be roaming around. After confirming that there was no one there she picked up her pace and dashed to the south wing. This was were the king resided and under no circumstances was she allowed to step in here. She had already broken his number one rule.
She hid behind the pillar and once again looked left and right for any servant or guard but the king did not allow any guards around him at now so she as safe to move.
"Devany if you die today..at least you'll be free.."
She muttered to herself pershaps maybe death was the only passage to her freedom.
With a deep breath she opened the chamber door and tiptoed into the room.
Inside a dimly lit room, the man layed peacefully on his bed.The soft moonlight filtered through the curtains casting a gentle glow revealing his devilishly handsome face.
He exuded an irresistible charm that was impossible to ignore.
His dark, tousled hair framed his face in a way that hinted at his rebellious nature, his chiseled jawline accentuated his symmetrical face and thin lips.
One word for sure the man laying on the bed was simply breathtaking.
Devany sighed and gathered her wits, she crawled towards the bed and stood when she had gotten close enough to strike.
She untied the knife and raised it up with both hands, with one full swoop she brought it down.
Just when it was about to touch his chest, the sleeping man suddenly rolled to the side.
His eyes snapped open, revealing a pair of piercing, blood-red irises that seemed to glow in the darkness. He looked at the woman who stood rooted to the ground from fear and the knife that had landed on the place where he laid.
"You want to kill me? Little one has my castle tainted you!" The man stood straight as a glint flashed through his eyes.
"You're the only woman who has dared to kill this king"His voice laced with a bone chilling coldness that made her shiver although she was meters away from him.
Devany gulped as she held the knife closely, if he dares to come close to her she would strike but then again he was no human. The man standing before her was more than just a vampire.
"My..my what a feisty little thing. You think the little toy in your hand can do me any harm. You should know I'm not your typical vampire.."
The man chuckled and with a flash he appeared in front of her. His cold hand wrapped around her neck and lifted her up from the ground.
Devany sighed as tears rolled out of her eyes it seemed that death reall was the only route to freedom.
Dear Lord, please protect your child! She prayed in her heart.
"What are you waiting for! Just kill me already...I'm not afraid of dying.."
The man chuckled and picked up the knife from her hand, it was really the real deal he wondered where she had gotten it from.
"Little one where did you get this from.."
Devany pursed her lips refusing to speak it was one of her maids that had gotten it for her and she didn't want anyone to die for her sake.
"I just happened to have it.."
She managed to mutter back, she could barely breathe yet he was asking her questions.
"Oh..seems like your eager to die little one you're bound to me, not even death would dare take you away from me.."
Devany's eyes widened as she stared at him in shock, he wouldn't even let her die.
"You're a sick, possessive lunatic.."
Devany spat out in anger, maybe he would kill her out of anger.
"Sick..no but possessive and crazy I posses those traits.."
The man chuckled and his grip loosened, she fell to the ground with a thud.
Devany gasped as she breathed in that long awaited air she sworn she could have seen her grim reaper ready to take her away.
"You won't let me die, you won't give me my freedom just what do you take me for.."
The man nodded and picked her up again trapped her in between his arms on the wall.
"That's a good question..what do I take you for. A plaything something I'll use to pass time till I get bored or maybe not I will marry you and make you this king's queen.."
Devany sneered and looked away what was so special about being a queen, she did not want to spend another second with this man not less her entire life.
"I rather die that be with you.."
"Haha..little one I'm sure you must have seen the grim reaper that was waiting for you. I own him unless I let you go not even death can take you away from me. So the sooner you get this fact the better for you.."
Devany's eyes watered so she really wasn't seeing things the grim reaper really had come and he refused to let it take her.
"Why.."
She wanted to know why he was so obsessed with her that he wouldn't even let it go not even in death.
"Why..let's just say we go way back.."The man chuckled and released her from his hold.
"Little one, don't try what you did today again unless I tell you too. I'm going to let you off today. I won't punish you, but if you even dare have a thought of doing what you pulled off today, then the consequences will be unimaginable."
Devany nodded she would never dare have the thought of killing him again. She was lucky to escape with her life today.
She turned to look at the man,he was the most handsome man she had ever seen. If not for his devilish character, she would have said he was a fairy with beauty that did not seem to come from this world.
She sighed deeply half a month's planning had gone to waste but she was glad she had not gone through the path of killing.
"Now run along little one before you get eaten.."
Devany shivered a d quickly ran out of the room she didn't stop running until she had gotten to her room and locked the door.
She sighed as she slowly slid down to the floor.
Life was hard when one was powerless, she couldn't fight for life even if she wanted to.
She wiped the tears from her eyes and crawled to the bed, the only thing she could do was to rest her tired body.
Devany didn't fall asleep until the early years and even when she did she was bombarded by her nightmares.
Ding!
Dong!
The morning bells were ringing, it was dawn, and the entire kingdom of Ravendor was at its busiest!
The farmers had gone to their farms to get fresh milk, meat, and vegetables that they would sell, and the bakers had begun baking breads and cakes. The fishermen had gone to the lakes and rivers to fish and to check the traps they had laid.
And in the castle, every single maid, cook, and steward were awake, going about their day, making sure the castle was in tip-top shape before the king arrived.
Meanwhile, the loud sounds of the bells did not seem to wake the sleeping girl, who was busy snoring away.
Her sleep was soon disturbed by the knock on the door.
"Miss..are you up his majesty sends for you I'm here to help you get ready.."
Devany groaned and tiredly went to open the door, she looked at the short but cute maid standing in front of her, she looked to be fifteen or sixteen.
"Oh my! Miss what happened to you.."
Devany shook her head and let her in muttering.
"It's a long story.."
It took Devany one hour to get ready and a few minutes to get to the king's chambers.
She took a deep breath remembering how she had almost died in there last night.
"Good morning, your highness."The girl greeted as she bowed, her beautiful and fair face coming into full view, pale pink lips, and the most beautiful emerald green eyes one had ever seen. Her blonde hair, which fell below her waist, made it the cream on top.
"Call me by my name, Deva!"The girl didn't expected her name to sound this pleasing when it came out from the man's mouth, like he had dipped it in honey!
"Good...morning..Slyvian."
Slyvian nodded he liked it when she called him by his name.
"You look well especially when you finely escaped death yesterday.."
