Heart beating with extrusion, a figure cloaked in black ran as though wolfhounds were on his tail. Though this is not far from the truth. Practically tearing the door open and finding himself onto the roof without further notice.
"Catch him!"
The roar of agreements echoing down from the hall only made him move faster.
He would have to leave soon.
Without further pretence he climbed the railing, turning to face the door when he heard it slam open.
"Get down here and face your punishment like a man!"
Seeing only once exit left, the figure jumped, clutching onto the book and activating his last defence. Knowing that there would be no return after this.
But this was of no real choice of his, it was created from the absolute necessity of destroying the book in his arms.
Chanting under his breath, a large circle of pure silver magic formed under his feet, swallowing both him and the book up.

On the first day of the second month, the 17XX year of the national Stella calendar, the kingdom of Opulent's reigning king and queen welcomed their firstborn heir and prince.
His birth was much celebrated by the nation, and given envy by those on the surrounding border.
Festivities ran through the town for a solid week with the news of his birth, and the added rumour of the happenings on the day of his birth caused much envy from the nearby nations.
The new prince was born with silver eyes of magic.
Such is the case when one is blessed by magic as the child was. A highly uncommon occurrence. With the best-known happenings of such a thing done by the child's great grandfather. A person who when ascended to the throne, personally went into battle, claiming many victories and making the rather small kingdom into the second wealthiest, and strongest military force. A title that still holds true in the Opulent of today.
In times such as these, where magic protrudes through our world, it is not uncommon for children to be born with eccentricities. Distinct characteristics that do not exist in the modern world of today. Characteristics of the power that a person one day has the potential to wield.
The pigmentation of the hair and eyes are easier identifiers.
Amir Guillaume Egon, the first prince was born with eyes of silver, and as he grew it was obvious that his hair was of the same colour.
The kingdom rejoiced.
///
Years quickly come to pass and the young prince, now known as Amir Guillaume Egon, has held the interest of both the citizens and rival nations. As such his movements were restricted to an even larger extent than that of an average prince.
That is not to say that he is bitter. Or of any poor health due to such a decision.
No, Amir is as smart as rumoured and paid no heed to the guards watching from outside his window. He knew what they were there for, and understood the necessity.
After all, no one knew the extent of his worth much as he.
The prince was sure to be well-educated on a large variety of subjects and given a sizeable portion of the castle. Numerous magicians were called in from the silver tower. The most prestigious centre in the world for those whose magic concerns. People only to be called in by the king or queen on the verge of a national situation.
A hefty cost for the lot of them to all come in, but the royals never complained about the sizeable fee. This was their child, and potentially their great asset to the kingdom. If he were lost or turned against them, there is no telling of the damage such a thing could cost.
Of course, the couple still made sure to copulate another child in the case of such happenings, knowing that they would need another to rule in his place in the case of such an accident occurring.
///
Two years after the birth of their crown prince the kingdom welcomed a younger brother. There were much celebration, but none to the extent of the first prince's birth.
After all, the second child was mostly just assurance for the kingdom in case anything were to happen when their first prince was fighting for their country.
In contrast to the cool steely magic-gifted eyes, the youngest brother grew to retain the warm blue eyes of his father's line, and hair of strawberry blond. A testament to his mother, in comparison to the pail blond of his father.
He was not a prodigy or a great saviour destined to further their kingdom and bring more riches, but he was much loved.
Amir was a complexity different to his younger sibling who's noble heartache could bring even the toughest to his cause. But even the idlest of thinkers could tell he favoured his brother very well.
As a toddler, the prince was already walking to the west wing for his brother. And could most commonly be found reading arithmetic books aloud to the younger, scolding him with much care when he refused to listen.
Those on duty found much amusement in the continued cause and left several copies of such books upon the shelves of the second prince's bed chambers.
///
More time passed, and eventually, the first son had to leave the safe confines of the castle walls.
Growing up Amir had been subjected to many of the best scholars. Money was of no concern, and every member of staff were put through a very thorough screening system, so only the best were chosen.
The young prince apathetically noticed as he grew up that maids and butlers were always orphans chosen from the most poverty-stricken towns. Ensuring that they each held a great dept to the crown, and if necessary, ensuring them not missed.
Ruthless and efficient. A perfect definition of what a king needed to be.
Kind and loving. A perfect description of what a prince needed to be.
Amir was the perfect king, and his brother the prince.
So Amir set out to impact upon himself the proper life experience for a king of his stature, leaving behind his younger brother of two years, knowing himself able to only visit during the summer.
