Chapter 6 - Weak Body

"It's okay…calm down. I just need you to calm down a moment, I have run a diagnosis spell, but the school nurse has been called down as well."

Amir's breathing has now calmed considerably, however, he now felt both ice-cold and boiling-hot at the same time. His hands were also shaking from where he clutched at Mr Argon's hand. Trying to bring the diagnosis magic circle closer to him.

As though a miracle brought by the fates, the school nurse arrived just as Amir's breaths began to unease again.

With an unruffled efficiency, the nurse, of whom Amir could identify as Miss Jenkins, as claimed on her name tag, cast a multitude of spells. Circles of magic flew across his still form. Overlapping and zooming around, trying to collect all the data that they could.

The crown prince of Opulent suddenly felt rather sleepy and had to forcefully blink his eyes open to stay awake.

"You seem to be experiencing a form of extreme magic depletion. Have you cast any strenuous spells recently?"

"None, ma'am."

"Hm. That seems to be the case, as your reaction was quite sudden, rather out of the ordinary."

"Is it possible to be the cause of a spell cast on Mr Egon."

Amir fought back to keep in a shiver of unease. Knowing un-doubtfully that as he was a man with as much strength, he was also a man with more enemies than allies. This was the marking of a good king.

"Such a thing is uncommon, and there would be rather rare. However, that does not seem out of the rel of possibilities."

"I understand. I'll look into it during my own time later on."

Amir refused any more support as he stood up. He could pity himself later, right now he had a message to send.

"Mr Egon, you are lucky for Mr Argon's quick thinking. Without him here, you would, no doubt be suffering from long-term problems."

Amir skipped his following classes for the day and the dinner that followed. The first prince still felt rather weak and couldn't find it in himself to bring himself together enough and go downstairs.

Amir had felt better the following day, as his magic had been suitably recharged, and left for breakfast.

The lunch hall sat in a building besides the stadium, as it served both knights and magicians.

There were also kitchens in both the knights and magician buildings, however, those are restricted to third years and above.

"Doesn't the prince look a bit pale?"

"I hope he isn't sick."

"I heard he got challenged by the Marginstine heir."

"He didn't lose though."

"Maybe he's worried about his cousin. I heard that they got pulled into the principal's office."

"The prince is so sweet."

Amir ignored the whispers and sat at an empty table. Placing his tray down and eating some of his apple slices slowly. Knowing that he wasn't completely recovered but not wanting to skip another meal.

"Hey, are you alright?"

The prince looked up, and seeing the familiar red-head in front of him, smirked.

"I'm perfectly fine, Rei. Don't worry your pretty little head about it."

"You- who are you calling pretty?! You jerk! Is this the thanks I get for being nice and worrying about you?!" Rei huffed, stomping his way towards his sister and dropping his tray down in an angry clatter.

Rei was rather easy to predicate, and a mind like Amir's found it fun to rile up such an expressive face. Still, the name-calling did its job and Rei left before he could ask any more questions.

The class Amir was currently taking was a beginning healing course that all magicians are forced to take for the first two years of their experience at any school.

It was in this class that they learned diagnosis circles and magic for simple healing. There was not much practical as a first-year, as most are the theoretical study for the following years, however, it had said on the course-map that the class would also learn how to heal small cuts, bruising, and friction burns. As Amir was a student of Class A, he will also likely learn to treat first degree burns and food poisoning. In his second year at Liber Academy, if Amir were to stay in Class A, he would likely work with more level, but common poisonings, larger cuts and bruises, and more extensive work on burns.

The knights have a similar class, but that deals with a quicker, rougher style of healing. Specific to battle-honed situations where stopping blood can save a mans life.

The students have two years to decide. And at the end of their second year of school, they will be choosing the course that they wish to go into.

For example, a magician can become a healer, teacher, researcher, tower magician, or join the knights on the front lines.

Similarly, a knight can become a guard, teacher, healer/doctor, continue as a knight in battle.

There seems to be a larger variety of job opportunities for magicians, but the teachers have already described that there are many different types of knights in a battle, such as there are many different ways for a magician to use their magic.

The teachers of Class A are strict and expect a lot, however, it is more fact to say that they have been weeding out the unworthy from their classes during the first week.

Amir could distinctly remember one such teacher, of whom was especially strict.

Her voice still rings around his head whenever he goes to lay at his rooms ottoman after a long day.

"The knight's division accuses us of being lazy, of not working out properly, but we cannot perform magic with a weak of mind-body or heart. So starting today, you will be run this court every morning at least twenty times as a warm-up before we continue. We have a reputation to maintain, if you cannot take this class at its beginner level, you will not be able to handle it when we begin to learn. So please save us the time, and leave now. I'm sure the other classes will welcome a disappointment such as you."
