'Dear big brother Amir,
I have requested from mother and father to be the one writing the letter, as I had been waiting much too long to hear from you!
I understand your busy schedule, however, please do make time to send a letter home a week. The family worries.
About your question, yes there has been some rumours spreading at the Eastern borders.
The villages speak of a cloaked person pushing themselves forcefully through the legion of guards. Decapitating every last person, however, the next morning there was no sign.
At first, we had just taken them as baseless rumours, but the person was magically powerful, and if it was not a case of mass hysteria then it is likely that they have come here with your head in mind.
I begged mother and father to take you out of school, however, 'education is an important part of a young man's life'. Or so they say.
We both know they care, brother, so in typical fashion, they brought many a wizard to the castle and paid them to craft for you a strong magical shield into the amulet currently hiding away in a concealment circle. To release it I was told that you must burn this letter.
However, before you do so, may I speak my mind and say that no matter the problem, if you call I am sure that both mother and father would answer.
They understand the severity of the issue but without your proper judgement, they will not act.
I believe this to be what they call a 'test'. Or perhaps they find themselves laking in something to properly find a solution, and are biding their time until they get an answer.
This is all rather confusing, however, it has been more than a week and I miss your quiet presence around the castle. It simply isn't the same without you.
Must beloved,
Your younger brother, Seigal.'
Amir has no shame in acquainting the feeling he currently feels to loneliness. He simply misses the presence of his younger brothers excited yells. It is somewhat softened by Rei's rather similar habits, however, they are simply far too different.
Despite the brash nature of his brother, Sigel is always on his top behaviour in the presence of officials and those not properly acquainted.
Perhaps it is another similarity, that though they can both be likened to a child, they are familiar with putting on a serious face in an important situation. Sigel, putting aside his excitement to finally write to his older brother, to instead speak only the most important facts. And Rei, giving his face of idiocy up for the sharp-clawed decisions in his quick battle with Zeno.
Was this similarity the only source of his fondness for the red-headed student or was it his quiet admiration for having such skill. It is unknown but Amir would do best to not dwell much further in thought.
Dipping his quill in ink, Amir got to work with his message. Silently joyous at having the excuse to mail a reply back without looking as soft-hearted as he was. Amir sometimes hated how big of a reaction his brother caused in him. He wasn't like this in his last life, even if his elder brother from back then was rather-
Amir's misty eyes stared at the hole that he had suddenly created in his paper. Without thought, he created a small magic circle from the tips of his fingers and lit the corner. Burning the ruined paper to ashes, and eventually catching the letter from his brother by the edges.
The first prince was too slow to react, having to watch as the precious letter sent from his brother was burned as well. Leaving nothing but ashes behind. Or at least that was what Amir thought before he turned back and noticed a sapphire the size of his eye glittering in the light.
That's right…Sigel had said to burn the letter, didn't he?
Amir sighed, pressing against the tall back of the chair he was currently resting on.
Not taking a single look at the shine of blue, Amir clasped the amulets golden chains against his neck. Pressing the cool jewel against the skin underneath his shirt. He simply took off his breeches and laid in bed, unable to believe himself still so affected by the attack.
He understood, logically speaking, that the magic likely came from someone from the crowd, however, his mind still played back the constant amount of times that he was within close range of either Rei or Nikolai.
Amir knew that there was a system of delay on the magic, there was no other way for he to have been injured in the principal's office otherwise. As he can report with the most certainly that the high concentration of protection circles surrounding that office would have stopped it.
But perhaps he would never be able to rid himself of the thought that those close to him had a part in the situation. Amir did not know id his relationship with Nikolai has degraded itself to such an extent that he could think of doing such a thing, but Nikolai is too much a coward to think of doing such a dangerous thing to the crown prince. No matter his disastrous behaviour earlier.
Rei was much too open-minded to do anything as secretive as that. But his title as the first prince gets in the way of several things, so it is unlikely that Amir would ever become a great deal closer than now, and have the chance to familiarise himself with Rei's character.
So, Amir could understand that the story compiled together by his younger brother was most logical and likely, however, he is still going to most probably develop a complex of sorts from this situation.
This is his first time around so many other people. So many people his age. And he has already been ruined it at the thought that one might turn traitor at any moment in time. That one could be leading him on in such a way that he could not understand.
