Chapter 2 - First Day

The origins of magic are obscured in much mist, having been passed down mostly through word of mouth, from a time long before transcripts.

Magic cannot interact with the world, that is a given fact. So it is rumoured that magic created a being with a hole where their heart was so that she could be brought in and give them life, creating magic a way to interact. However, as time went on magic saw the being turn away from her hold in loneliness, ending his life without further prompt.

Not wanting to see such a thing happen again, this time magic put the hole in the beings abdomen and created creatures of lesser intelligence for their company. Among was one, sharing a form similar to the first being, she was known as the first human.

The being found comfort in the human and happiness in the animals they cared much for. And soon they were welcoming another two into their woods.

These brothers were proof of magics love and equality, as they were the physical forms of love between magic's powerful child, and her weak animal. One had the elongated lobes of their father. While the other did not.

The first was blessed by magic, born with silver skin, hair, and eyes that show his purity. While the other was born with the average caramel skin, brown hair and eyes of his human mother. It was rather obvious to whom the magic favoured.

However both we loved, and while the family rejoiced at the first child's achievements, the second sat back and watched. Taking care of the animals and questioned magic on why he was so different. Why his body was too weak to use the magic that he could feel in his body.

Magic could never answer him so he turned to the animals that he so loved, and realised his mistake. He was not created to wield magic. He was created to be like the lesser beings that his mother and the animals were. He was created with the intelligence of his father, but the body of his mother. He was created to pass on magic, and rule those of his kind.

The first sines of human greed was a minimal and unnoticed corruption of thought.

He was a gift to the animals forsaken in his parents' quest to please magic with his brother. He took comfort with the animals and eventually with his love a beast of a wolf earned the power of transformation from mother magic. The two eventually got married, birthing the first natural shifter to the world, and moving away to create a kingdom of their own. With the blessings of the family.

Having much regret for their partial leglect, the family of three vowed to follow any from the youngest child's line that magic had chosen.

And so, with the birth of his first grandchild came magics choice. For the first time, a human had been blessed with silver hair and eyes. Their skin clear of silver, as it represents the human line from which they are birthed.

With his grandchild, came a new generation of humans able to activate the magic that they could only partially feel, and their lives got easier. Their magic was not about combat, but about helping their lives. Before, where it would have taken days to build huts, now only took hours.

The humans were happy, and built statues in lady magic's honour, carving words of origin from magic into the stone face, allowing magic to interact and alight the words with her silver power.

He was born Amir Guillaume Egon from parents, Qeen Claudia Egon and King Rainen Egon of the Kingdom of Opulent.

But Amir was born 'special'. With eyes the colour of the most expensive grey diamond, and wavy hair of liquid silver.

So yes, Amir knew he was special, but he always felt most 'special' when he slept.

Because Amir dreamt of the strangest of dreams as he slept.

Dreams that would leave him awake in fright to his own heavy breathing as company.

If asked the following morning he would say that he couldn't remember, however that isn't completely true.

Amir remembers desperation. Remembers the salty sweat that he taste upon his upper lip. Remembers the powerful wish to just run and hide away from everything.

Most importantly Amir remembers the bright silver of the magic circle that haunts his dreams at night.

Magic created solely for the destruction of anything that steps inside.

'It was necessary.' His mind whispers to him at times. 'It was necessary to destroy the book.'

It was at times like these that Amir wishes he wasn't as well educated as he was.

Because he understood what that book was, and it terrified him.

The colour silver drew attention. whether for it being pure magic or its fine national worth in the field of magic equipment.

His countenance was of the most noble. Confidence commonly being mistaken for the largest of pride, despite how he humbled himself to the public eye by not bringing any servants to school, only a guard, for the most obvious of reasons.

"Huh?! What does he need a guard for? To make sure he doesn't get nightmares?!"

Though some seem to not be able to comprehend such a thing.

The little girl by his site tugged insistently on his arm.

"B-big brother t-that's the prince."

It is nice to know that some people are not as daft as they seem.

"Yeah? But why does he get special treatment and we don't?!"

"B-brother!"

Not having paid attention to the loud conversation, Amir packed up his book and made to leave, noticing a crowd forming around and not wishing to be late for the entrence ceremony because of such a mess.

Amir has only been present for an hour and already trouble has been caused in his name.

"Where do you think you're going?!"

She was of the most handsome women he had ever seen. Even if her countenance was a particular hurdle in the appreciation of such a thing.

Though, saying such observations out loud only seemed to further aggravate her.

"Huh? What do you mean, I'm beautiful?! I'm not beautiful, I'm manly! And I'm going to become a knight one day, just you wait! You spoilt prince!"

It would seem that the 'princess' was a 'prince'. 'He has the most amusing reactions, though,' thought the prince. 'So such particularities do not hold much sway.' At least in the mind of the first prince.

Amir looks forward to them meeting again.

Fate was moving, and Amir had just unknowingly taken interest in the only shifter of his generation.
