Right away, Zeno had proved that muscle wasn't the only skill he had. He was surprisingly fast and was ready in front of Rei before he had time to blink.
"Wha-"
It was only through instinct that Rei was able to dodge the punch, quickly tumbling over the other two thrown before rushing backward. Scared of being enclosed against the shield, Red was quick to move again. Zeno continuing to chase him through it all.
"Hah! For a girl, you're quite good!"
"Who are you calling a girl?!" Gaining determination, a silver magic circle formed at the tips of Rei's fingers. Everyone stood still for a second, watching as the circle moved his arm, leaving behind the arm of a beastly animal.
Taking in the shocked silence, Rei charged forward, dragging clawed fingers across the chest of his competitor.
Zeno tried to move backward when he saw what was happening, however, this time he was too slow.
Rei allowed his hand to lower, and trip his hello champion's blood on the floor, the crystallized magic around them shattering at the first drop.
The moment was ruined by yelling coming fro behind the crowd.
"What do you think you're doing?!" The sound that came from Mr Tabor's mouth could most likely be heard from the other end of the halls, much to the mortification of Rei.
"Not even a week into term and there are already fights between students? You two, Mr Marginstine, and Egon! Come with me now! We're going to the principal's office."
The silence only laster for one minute before Mr Arbor, the school principal, let out a sigh and gestured for Mr Tabor to take Nikolai Marginstine back to the class that he was due to attend.
"I expected better from you. Even dragging other students into this..."
"Now, Mr Egon, Mr Marginstine, I expect a logical and reasonable answer as to why are brought into my office."
'I was challenged and needed to defend my title' suddenly didn't seem as good an answer to Amir. It was puzzling how any could me the prince seem human, and yet here, in front of his elven principal, Amir suddenly felt a lot more like the child he was in appearance.
Nonetheless, Amir didn't express any mannerisms to show his inner turmoil, not willing to allow his decrepit relationship with his cousin to get into his head.
"Can you at least inform me as to why you listened to his taunting in the first place?"
"I had to defend my position."
The look held against the prince showed how completely unimpressed the principal was with his statement.
"I also wanted to see how a person with ambition reacts when faced under the pressure of performing in their chosen field."
"You are speaking about Reiball Seid, correct? Child of the head knight, Maragal Seid?"
"I was not aware that you knew the family."
"I may not have the head knight checking in at my house every year, but we do often meet for discussion on the program for knights."
"Mhm. I also was not aware that Reiball had become a shifter. I had heard that his father never got the gift, but to find that the recessive gene in Rei was active, was a bit of a thrill."
"So, you didn't even know if he was a shifter or any good as a knight, but still decided to choose him? Are you sure, that you were not desperate?"
"He would not have been killed, as per the rules, and I was rather annoyed at the simplicity of the curriculum at the time."
"The study material of Class A is already leagues ahead of other classes. It is estimated to finish their work by the end of the month."
"Yes, however, I estimate that by the end of the six month period, I will not be paying any attention in class."
"I can fix something up for you. Have you take harder tests, however that would be a form of favoritism that I am not willing to do."
"Just give me access to the library early, that shouldn't be too hard."
It shouldn't really, as the library was only closed at the start of the year to collect and organize books returned over the holiday period, and serve as an easy study space for the upper years, who have a large number of tests to worry about.
"You must understand, Mr Egar, that such an action would be a blatant form of favouritism. Something that I was hoping that we wouldn't be having any problems with."
"I understand that as you history pertains, you are to follow my every order, however, I will not ask you to show any means of favouritism towards me unless it is necessary."
"Granting early access to one student for facilities not yet available is an obvious sign of favouritism!" The principal was now clearly getting annoyed, having not expected Amir to be so stubborn on the issue.
The air between the principal was tense, and Amir realized, blatantly, that he was not used to a person following his every order. He had not realized himself to be so selfish, however, the truth was clearly before him.
Amir was not a disrespectful person, however, he had just ignored the well-wishes of a person who is supposed to be in charge of his education for the next five years.
The first prince felt a pit in his stomach. He felt like butterflied here catching in his lungs and he was unable to breathe.
Amir distantly attributed these familiar sensations to the ones often following the night-terrors that were so often in his youth.
He had not missed the feeling and was glad that they had lessened.
Amir also realized that he couldn't seem to properly comprehend anything outside of his body and that his mind was running a lot faster than usual.
'My body is shutting down.' Amir realized, more confused than worried. 'My body is shutting down, and I am unable to find an attribute reason as to why such a thing was happening.'
Amir's system was flooded with a rage unlike any other, something was messing up his body, and he had to fix the problem because no-one should be able to make him feel so weak.
