Moon Light drawn by the Clouds
"What the," Yuri said.
Destiny took her phone out from her purse and pretended to checking something busily. To her surprise there was an unexpected notification she was hoping that she would get soon. "Yuri," she called again. She showed the phone.
"Oh my god!" she shouted and covered her mouth. "Congratulations. It officially begins. I'm gonna become an author soon writing a novel. Now her heart pounded even louder. But it broke he heart. Though she pretended to be busy, she put the phone soon down accepting Lay's request and watched June walking. She believed it was towards her. But she was accompanied by the familiar face.
"Isn't that Maria and Sara?" Yuri asked her. And she nodded back. They saw each other. So did June. But as they neared. They just walked by and didn't even look at her face. That hurt her. June hurt her. Badly than Destiny expected it would feel. Destiny's eyes whelmed with tears. But soon Yuri held her.
"Don't ever cry," Yuri said
"Am not."
"Wipe it before it runs down, you will ruin the makeup," Yuri advised and Destiny did as she was ordered to.
"You mind if I join you Destiny?" A familiar deep voice asked her.
'Oh my god, I am seriously gonna explode right now' she thought. She knew from the very matured deep voice, who it was. A tall figure in a well-tailored black suit with the bow tie with bronze hair, and green eyes stood there handsome as ever.
"Lay," she said, her voice hardly audible. Yuri stood shocked. Yuri ran her finger on the back of Destiny's neck writing 'WOW'
"Excuse me for a moment," Yuri said formally and left.
"Hello, Des. You look wow. I mean in a good way," he complimented her.
"Thank you, so do you," Destiny said and smiled.
"I expected a reply when I sent you the invitation but I didn't sadly."
"What?" Destiny got confused. "Wait what, you sent that?"
"Yeah, a friend of mine is holding the garden party today,"
"But how, how did you know my number. No how did you l know I had worked here?"
"I heard him mention your name when we came this way today morning with Mohammed, my best friend. That's his name. So I knew it definitely would be you. Then also heard the guys working here mentioning your name and how angry you got about breaking something last night. So I called one of those guys and got your number."
"Oh my god, so Dan gave you."
"Yes, so here we meet again, slept alright yesterday?" he enquired.
"Yes, I did. Pretty well. You?"
"I stayed a bit more. Mohammed was waiting for me when I went back. So talked with him and only then I went to bed. Had a really long day!"
"Yes, yes it was," she agreed. She then saw a few stares towards her direction. June and her precious gang. Kim went and joined them. 'Surely now she is gonna boast about me, dear lord!' Destiny thought. The waiter brought wine and they both took each glass.
"What exactly is this party about?"
"Absolutely nothing, few friends have gathered here after a long time. So they are celebrating their 25 years of friendship inviting a few other people. Its Mohamed's cousin who is the host tonight. He let me invite you," he said the whole story.
"25 That's amazing."
"I know right, what about you? Friends and family?"
"Yuri and June are my only friends here."
"Are those the ones who are staring at us." He asked her pointing towards the group.
"Yes, the black dress is Yuri Kim, The lavender dress with that blond hair is June. The peach gown is Sara and that green is Maria." She introduced them all to him.
"Yuri Kim is Korean?" he asked back.
"Yes and June Turkish, the rest Lebanese,"
"The lavender one, what's her name?"
"That's June." She repeated June's name. 'Of course. Who wouldn't notice June for a moment when they pass by?' she smiled at the thought.
"Oh! Okay," they both locked their eyes and he raised his glass to her and nodded.
"You know her?" she got curious.
"Yeah, kind of. I used to be acquainted with her, like five, six months back. Last time I came here."
"She is getting married in two weeks, new year wedding,"
"Really? Good for her," he said. He looked a bit uncomfortable talking about her. 'Strange' Destiny thought and dropped the topic. She didn't say anything for a while.
"Want to take a tour around this place?" he asked out of the blue. "Let's get out of here, shall we?" for that, Destiny nodded and walked with him. They stepped out of the party area, and walked further, escaping the flashy crowd.
"Am not much of enjoying this crowd kind of person," he said. "But I at least attend two in a week. My life demands it."
"Nothing is better than able to spend some time alone. I understand what you say," Destiny agreed with him.
"You really look different from yesterday, really, for a moment I was you know surprised." He complimented again. And she had no idea what to say back. "Save my number, that's my international number.
"Yes, I will. First thing," she assured him.
They stood in the garden looking over the parking lot, people were still coming and leaving. He would steal glances at her from time to time. 'Something's wrong with me,' he would think. She was standing with no clue, enjoying her evening, in her own pace. 'I'm really crazy, but what the heck am I going to tell when she asks me how I know June, I didn't even know her name but,' he quarreled inside his head. It was getting cold, and he removed his suit and put it over Destiny's shoulders. She was surprised.
"Thank you," she thanked him as she was beginning to get cold.
"Yes so tell me, what about family?" he asked again.
"Oh yes, we were talking about that." She began. "Family is in India. Mom, Dad, an elder brother married and settled in New Zealand, and a younger sister, still in school. Six month back, without telling me, parents divorced and I came to know through other people. So I haven't contacted them like months."
"Really?"
"Yes. They did always fight, but I always gave everything and tried keeping the connected at least for a better childhood for my sister, but they have truly done something important without letting me know. So."
"You really stand up, I don't know. You should call them. At least your sister."
"I contact her every day. Just not them."
"Even your brother?"
"Yup I can't. I just can't. I am taking all the time for it. Things would have been better if not for him." A minute later she said. "Oh my god, what the heck am I talking about with you, am so sorry. I shouldn't probably say these and bore you,"
"No, no you should. You should just tell me everything okay. We should be best friends," he suggested
'Whoa seriously' she thought looking at him for a moment. 'Seriously he cares? Really?'
"Hey Des, okay?" he asked.
"Yes I'm fine," she said fake laughing.
"How did you get this client?" he asked
"Well, there was a Falcon Festival held here, at that time we had a client here about a coffee shop. That I happened to get to know a few more people here. One of those who participated called and enquired."
"Wow, that's cool,"
"Yeah I was kinda happy since there are targets, I jumped directly upwards, I don't have to struggle for the next whole month since I have this."
"You work really good I believe. Everything planned well."
"Nothing like that, true I was the first who started working in my batch but sadly in the future I am gonna be the last one to reach heights. That company is no good. No raise, not even giving out commission. It's also eating my head every day. Boss treat me as if am his secretary."
"What?" he was shocked to hear that.
"It seems like you need connections now to get in a good company. Am done. I will be resigning at any moment."
"You should if they aren't treating you properly I would say,"
"But I can't find any that easily, not that I didn't try, It's hard. Plus I have to gain more experience and get over with bond here."
"I agree, it can be hard. Still, keep trying. The Arabs are unpredictable. They are good but they stick with beliefs too. God at business and very Porsche.
"But I survive because of them. When you are true, they will be really good to you. I know a few who purposefully cheat just for money, that make them go hard on everything, so things get difficult even if we are genuine. Even this one, the amount of times I spent convincing them. It was tough." She said and shrugged. He stood listening to her.
"You are good. You are aware of things around. Not too feminine like those girls we met. Wait are those the ones you emptied the glasses on?"
"Yes," Destiny answered giving a mischief smile. "Except June of course."
"You are really good with her aren't you?" suddenly someone was calling Destiny from behind. It was Yuri, she looked all pale and sick. She reached towards them and collapsed in Destiny's arms.
