Synopsis
"Come!" his authoritative voice pissed me off even more. He drags me to the police car, gripping both my shoulders to steady me. "You know what?!" I stopped midway and looked at him with sarcasm etched on my face. "For a cop who has strong legs like you, I wonder what took you so long to catch me?" I laugh a little to annoy him. He should be clenching his teeth now as I sure as hell affected his ego, but instead, he flashed me with a million dollar smile. He leaned down to whisper in my ear "It's because I like watching your ass while you run." I jerked my shoulders away from him as I look at him with pure hate in my eyes "Asshole." I muttered that made him laugh even more, and I never felt so defeated in my life until then. DISCLAIMER: Everything you are about to read in this book is a product of my imagination. Chapter 1 - 1

Daisy:

I run.

I run as fast as I could.

I never knew I can run this fast. I can feel my chest heaving as the scenery around me quickly changes from lined up clubs to alleyways, I'm gasping for air and I can hear the police sirens behind my back but I didn't stop.

I can't stop.

Not now.

All I need is to get away and I can never be...

"Busted."

"Ouch!" I hissed as I stumble and fall after I hit a hard thing.

I touched my forehead to check if I'm bleeding and thank God I wasn't.

My eyes adjusted to the brightness coming out of the police car's headlights and I saw a pair of shoes at the end of my feet. When I managed to look up, I rolled my eyes and slumped on the floor, defeated.

"Of course, I'm busted." my chest rise and fall. Since I'm struggling to breathe, I closed my eyes and succumb to my doom.

"Get up." the most handsome cop I've seen in my life commanded. As much as I would love to, my knees feel weak already. So, when I didn't oblige, he grabbed my arm to pick me up.

"Aww! Easy!" I complained.

He started to put handcuffs on me and I struggle to stop him "You know you don't have to do that." I protested but he pretended he's not listening and just continued doing what he has to do.

His hands devoured my body, from my neck to my arms, to the bottom of my breast, making sure I didn't hide anything.

"If I were you, I would stop struggling." He said and pressed just above the band of my pants.

He holds up his hand to show me what he got "A pill! Seriously?" he chuckled.

"I've never seen that thing before; I fucking swear that's not mine!" I tried to defend myself but it obviously fell on deaf ears and I'm pissed.

"What, a random guy sneaked it in you without you knowing?" He sarcastically asked.

"Well yeah, sort of," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Come!" his authoritative voice pissed me off even more. He drags me to the police car, gripping both my shoulders while reciting the Miranda rights to me.

"You know what?!" I stopped midway and looked at him with sarcasm etched on my face. I looked him up and down. "For a cop who has strong legs like you, I wonder what took you so long to catch me?" I laugh a little to annoy him.

He should be clenching his teeth now as I am sure hell affected his ego, but instead, he flashed me with a million-dollar smile and leaned down. He stares me in the eyes, and with a sultry voice, he whispers in my ear "It's because I like watching your ass while you run."

I jerked my shoulders away from him as I look at him with pure hate in my eyes "Asshole." I muttered though I can't deny the fact I had goosebumps.

I sat on the chair in front of another officer's table waiting for Catherine to show up.

I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts in an Orphanage, and Catherine legally adopted me when I was 9 years old and since then, she's been, my guardian. Growing up was never easy. But Catherine became a big part of my life and helped me to be the person I came today and I hate what happened to me. I don't want to disappoint her.

She arrived shortly after the cop made a phone call telling her the trouble, I found myself in. "Are you okay?" she asked looking so worried.

"I'm fine. I just want to go home. I'm really sorry about this." I told her.

She shook her head and smiled genuinely. "It's alright, none of it is your fault." she taps my shoulder and went inside to talk to the officer in charge of my case.

I've never been in jail before. I always aim to live a better life since I was a kid and being here for nearly 4 hours is the worst part of my existence. And it's just because of a fucking pill that doesn't belong to me. I shouldn't have trusted them. They are right when people say regret comes lasts.

I stood up from where I'm sitting and decided to catch some fresh air outside. The balding officer gave me a look "Be caught again and I swear you won't get out!" I didn't pay much attention. I went outside after I gave him the face and while I wait for Catherine to settle things inside.

"So, are you sober now?" I heard the familiar cold voice.

I threw a glance in his direction and my mood soured right away. He's leaning against the door frame, almost blocking the view behind him. His strong arms are crossed over his chest. His uniform looks one size smaller due to his broad shoulders and well-maintained muscles.

"Just so you know, I'm not that drunk."

"Earlier you were. Hope the effect of the pill subsides too."

"My tests are a clean asshole. I never use that pill or any other pill for that matter. I'm not an addict and I swear- Ugh! Why am I even explaining myself to you?" I crossed my arms over my chest and looked elsewhere.

"That's because you wanted me to believe you. You're lucky that your friend admitted what he did. But that doesn't mean you can wipe your slate clean; we still found the drug in you. You know the harm it can cause to those who misuse and abuse it, so know that I'll be watching you."

"Oh, now you're threatening me."

He vacated his spot and walked towards me and I just realized now how tall he was. He looked down on me and I feel so tiny compared to his height, he lowered down his head and our faces are just a few inches away. I back a little to create a safe space between us resulting in me hitting the wall behind.

"There's no way to go." He said in a low yet masculine voice that made me gulp. "And just so you know too, I don't do threats, baby girl." He scanned my face, and I dearly hope he won't notice his effect on me. "It's a promise." he flashed me that annoying smile again.

I tried to open my mouth for a comeback but it came out dry. And as if the angels heard my plea of help, the door behind him burst open, revealing the smiling Catherine.

I relaxed and moved out of the space he created "There you are!" I exclaimed. I offered my hand to her and Catherine gladly took it.

She glanced at the officer and smiled charmingly "Thank you officer for bringing my girl safe."

He nodded to acknowledge her but his gaze is still fixed on me and as if his eyes have some magnets of his own, I stare right back at him. "My pleasure ma'am." He told her and flashed her a smile that can light up the whole place.

Dark blue eyes underneath those pretty lashes penetrate my soul and I gulped to clear my throat and dismiss the tingling sensation it causes me.

"Come on now." I guided Catherine down the steps and we walk towards the car. All the while, I can feel his gaze on my back.

I let out a breath I never knew I'm holding when we finally reached the car. I turned the AC on in full blast, I am hot and bothered and I'm sure it's from the tequila shots and not because of the handsome cop who has the most beautiful dark blue eyes.

"Handsome isn't he?!" Catherine joked that made me roll my eyes.

"Ugh, tell me about it." I started the engine and made the car roar.

I felt tired and beaten up when we came home. For the first time in my life, I hated Gertrude for tagging me along in that club. It was supposed to be a great night after a long day at work. Drinks, laughs, party, but the club raid happened. If I only knew, I shouldn't have come and just stayed at home tonight and binge-watch.

I dragged myself up to my room after I helped Catherine settle in her bed. I lay down on the soft mattress and stretched my tired legs out. I never knew I can run a marathon. I just stared at the ceiling longer than necessary, contemplating everything that happened tonight.

When I closed my eyes, I saw him.

I linger more on his face in my head. His dark blue smoldering eyes, chiseled and strong jaw with stubbles, perfectly white teeth surrounded with lips that draw me in when he talks. And let's not forget his well-maintained body.

He seems to have a great personality too. Witty and an expert in what he does. Bringing bad people in their rightful place. He seems to be the man who never tolerates misconduct and always aim for justice to be served. I rolled onto my stomach and took my laptop to the bedside table. I started to research the pills he found in me.

"Most commonly known as pink pills. Abusers of pink pills bring so much harm to their bodies. Dehydration etc. It could also affect the heart or kidney if they use the drug while doing physical activities or in hot environments."

I took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of my nose to stop the threatening headache.

No wonder why he's so determined to arrest me and throw me into jail. This is illegal in many ways possible. When I woke up this morning, I never imagined myself in this situation.

Never in my life have I imagined being this messed up. Having a criminal record and such, If Spencer didn't testify that I had nothing to do with it, I wouldn't be able to get out.

What have I done wrong?

Oh yes, I trusted a man.

Yet again.

I fucked up. Big time!
