Well Intended Love
He walked towards her and hugged tightly. "I missed you so much," He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her head. She had a wet towel around her hair and he didn't mind them.
"Lay," she said. "How did you get in?" she asked him.
"I went to your workplace and Yuri told me you are so drunk and took a day off. Then I came here and have been knocking around for an hour, you didn't open. Then I called Yuri again for keys, so she told me where she has hidden the key. So I opened and came in. I'm sorry."
"It's fine. It's okay. Why are you here?"
"Because I wanted to see you?
"But you said you have a lot of work,"
"I do, I just came for a day," and for that, she had nothing to say.
"Sit I will get you breakfast, you must be starving," she said nothing else and walked towards the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator. And pretending to be taking things for a long time. 'Oh my god, I am so embarrassed. Am not even ready to talk with him, how am I gonna face him now.' She buried her head in her hands. She one by one recalled all the moments that happened last night after she got drunk. She talked to him and that, very badly.
"How could you do this? How? I know you told me but I seriously wanna kill you for doing that with June. Fifty shades my ass, Lay I wanna kill you Lay," she kept repeating. She didn't let him talk at all. "Why June, I feel too weird and can't even look at her face, what is it? Fake names to each other? What are you? Underworld hero to say fake names and sleep with a woman? How could you? Lay is your name Lay or something else? If you wanna goof around find somebody else. I am serious. Not me. Never me. I will kill you for sure. The why are you sending me flowers? Why do you call me? Why????" she screamed through the phone. She did not let him open his mouth even once. And in the end, she fell asleep.
'Holy shit, what do I do now?' she quickly made breakfast. Pancakes, scrambled eggs and salad. She called him to the kitchen and then poured him fresh watermelon juice.
Destiny didn't even look at his face, while he, understanding perfectly, kept smiling. She avoided facing and looked down she began eating. She stuffed the pancakes in her mouth and looked at him when he called her.
"What?" she asked unable to speak properly with food in her mouth. Their eyes locked and she couldn't help smiling. 'How could I?' she thought. 'Did I just melt? Did my anger just wash away' she thought. She couldn't help but kept smiling. She gulped the food down and asked him again.
"What?" and shook his head laughing.
"Nothing, I just can't believe I came all the way here just to see this."
"Forget it,"
"No, we should talk about it, if it is bothering you."
"I'm fine,"
"No. You're clearly not,"
"Well, I was not. But am fine."
"I am so sorry I did that. I know as a decent person I shouldn't have. But I did and it happened to be Jane, sorry what's her name?
"June," she answered him. 'So Jane is the name she told Lay then.' She thought.
"I was mad so I did that alright. And I already told you this happened. I thought after we met her at the party and when I told you, you figured it out and you were cool with it.
"I am cool with it. Am not supporting clearly. Am saying because it's already in the past. But the fact that it was with my best friend somewhere pissed me off.
"That we spend some time together?"
"Yes, it's crazy but yes. She has always been like that. But it somewhere drives me crazy when I think."
"Then don't think about it," he said. "Please."
"If you asked her you would have known. We only met each other couple of times, and we never dated or anything like that. And I never called her or anything. And I wasn't this way at all with her, but rather cold and distant."
'Idiot but still you slept with her, ok fine forget it Destiny' she told herself and took a deep breath.
"Are we okay?" He asked, his expression a bit funny, but serious.
"Yeah I guess we are," she felt relieved that they cleared the problem.
"Good," he then got up and leaned over the table and kissed her on her cheeks and sat back to complete his food. She took the glass of water as her quick reflex and poured it in his face.
Dripping in water, he said, "You are so good at this," and wiped his face. And they laughed aloud. He dried himself and asked her to get ready.
"To where,"
"Will do something, get ready, let's head out," he said.
She got really excited. She put on her palate pink off shoulder laced dress and put on a faded blue denim jacket. And she put a very light makeup and just let her hair free. She chose the matching a peach shaded high heels and stepped out. She remembered to take her sunglasses and he didn't take his eyes off her.
"Let's go," she said and they got into his car. He had brought the white range rover this time. Looking hot and elegant. We got in and he decided that we go to Doha Festival City. He put it on the GPS and headed straight there. They played the music loud and sang along with it. It turned out to be the best drive ever. The radio played back to back top hit songs.
"Camila is really good isn't she?" he opinioned. 'Havana' was currently on air. And they kept singing along. The next song that played was both of their favorite song, James Arthur and Anne Maria's 'Rewrite the Stars'
Around 12, they reached DFS and they got in. Destiny decided to go shopping for her clothes for the new workplace. She walked into center point and max looking for formals and she did get a few good ones. He helped her choose and they got out. Then they walked towards H&M, she had to get a suit and looked for some of her important cosmetics there. She searched for a matt ink lip color and nail colors, she got new face palate and bought another a maxi dress she liked. And bought him a denim short and shirt.
"You do have a good taste when it comes to clothes don't you?" he said as they finished shopping. It was 2 in the noon by then. They walked straight into McDonald's and ordered.
Both of them ordered for McChicken large and Sprite while he ordered a McFlurry. They waited for a few minutes and they got the food. They talked about how his business was coming up back in London and how he has thought of renovating the terrace and make use of that space too. A pool and space for a rooftop party was his plan, while his dad wants to go only for opening a rooftop restaurant.
"Actually I like your dad's plan. See, there you can have a pool and set a restaurant. If People wish to hold a party, just change the arrangements of the table, they can hold the party but order food from there itself," she gave him the idea.
He laughed aloud. "I never thought of that, all I thought was private space that people can rent for date night, the whole roof for two, stuffs like that."
"But that won't give you regular business, only elite people would do that, but a rooftop restaurant, any people on a date might want to come and will be able to afford that, instead of renting out the whole place. And it would be busy all the time too," she said eating her burger. He considered what she said though he was entirely thinking of only his plans. With loads of bags, after lunch, they stepped out of DFC. "Let's have fun today," he said as he stepped on the accelerator.
"Where are you heading?"
"Meisaeed," he said.
"To the desert?"
"Don't worry, I know to drive well. One thing we do often whenever I come here is this. We went to Inland and camped once. Best night. But today no inland. We will just do some ride and spend time in sea line and I have booked sea line resort for tonight."
"What?" she was shocked. 'Spend a night? No way. No' she thought.
"Sorry I didn't ask you, but this was what I planned while I was in flight till I reached here. It kept me exciting. Please don't say no. I will be leaving tomorrow night. Until then,"
"So you want me to take a day off tomorrow too?"
"Yes," he said straight. It took them around 45 minutes to reach the desert and they drove over the sand dunes crazily. He really did look like he had a great experience driving. It wasn't that crowded since it was a weekday. And she felt good about it. It was so amazing. Though the sun was high up soaring, it didn't feel hot at all with the constant wind from all the possible direction. They took a lot of photographs of each other and did a tiny photo shoot trying to click a nice picture. The view was breathtaking. The dessert on the one side and the endless ocean the other side. The dessert in the ends shared the border with the current frenemy country Saudi Arabia but the borders are shut down due to the blockade issues. Destiny clearly explained everything to Lay and completed his doubts and prejudices over the government and king here.
He then parked the car near the beach down the dunes. They walked over to the tiny tides that were hitting the shore. They removed their shoes but she didn't get in, he then remembered her phobia.
"How did you get it?" he wanted to know.
"When I was young, we had a family get together and we went to a picnic. There was a lake and we were all playing, then this cousin of mine accidentally pushed and I fell in. I panicked and it took a long time to parents to notice that. I suffocated a bit and it caused me this. Water resources make me nervous."
He then helped her and they played in the water for a little bit of time. They were laughing a lot, sincerely happy. It was beginning to dark. The walked a bit and sat on sand dunes watching the sunset together in the cool breeze, in silence, buried in their own thoughts. He was worried but she was cool. Around 7 they left the desert and checked-in the resort. She never imagined the resort to be this magnificent. 'But yes, how can you expect less in this super awesome country,'
They got in the room and kept the bags aside. The carpets and antique furnishing looked elegant. There was the king size bed and the amazing view of the beach. It was no wall, but the glass that faced the beach. The room was chilling with the air condition and the indoor plants all looked fresh. She then walked over to the small study went through the corner shelf that held a few books. She walked towards the washroom and checked them. 'So large like a ground' she thought. The bathtub, big enough for two and weirdly had rose petals in the water. The shower area as usual covered by the glass doors. She came back into the room and stood in the middle confused what to do. She was tensed and she had no clue.
"Destiny," Lay walked back into the room, "Your room is ready."
Destiny smiled with a huge sigh of relief. She picked up her bag and followed him. It was the opposite door to his.
"Enjoy," he said and left. She quickly changed, took shower and changed into the thin strapped maxi dress she bought early in the afternoon. The room looked exactly the same as his, only it didn't have a beach view, but the pool. Someone knocked on the door and she knew it was him. She opened it for him and he seemed to have showered too. His hair wet and clothes changed. He was wearing what she bought him too. But she didn't make any comment.
"You mind if we order dinner here?" he asked her settling in her bed. He took the menu from the bedside table and checked them for a long time. "They have pretty good stuff here." He then handed her the menu.
"I go for the lollipop, cream pasta, and caramel pudding," she told him.
"I will go for the same except pudding, I will go with vanilla ice cream and fruit salad. Am in good mood for desserts," he blinked and placed the orders through the call. Destiny discovered cards in one of the drawers in the study and they played it until the food arrived.
"I can't believe you are too bad at playing cards Lay," she said as she opened the door for room service. The trolley came in and asked him to let it as it is and he left.
She arranged the food in the small table near the sofa and he sat there on down.
"Wow this is good," he said as he dug into Pasta after completing the starters. Silence filled the room as they completed the dinner and Destiny walked around the room observing the indoor plants. She had no idea what those except the cactus yet pretended to be really busy while Lay was on phone busy with texting someone.
"Done with plants?" he asked from the bed.
"Almost, the more I look, the beautiful they appear to be, and I realized I know nothing about these babies."
"That's exactly is what my thought is right now," and she turned around only to see him standing right behind, her face close to his, and she was surprised and almost fell down.
"What are you doing?" she asked him trying to move away from his hands.
"Admiring a beautiful thing in the room," He said as they locked their eyes for a moment. Both afraid of something they weren't sure about.
"Stop it, Lay," she moved away and went and sat on the couch. Destiny felt that her heart did flutter for a moment and her insides began to tremble. 'Oh god. Stop the stupid thoughts idiot,' she told herself.
"You are afraid aren't you?"
"Afraid of what? No am not!" she replied.
"Or you don't still get?"
"Get what?"
"You don't trust me do you?"
"Lay what are you talking about?" she understood. She understood about it only now. "Trust you? I do. We are best friends are we not?"
"Best friends," he chuckled. "Best friends yes, yes we are, best friends who wish to spend time together all the time, who do video amidst of the hectic schedules, friends who sent flowers that have specific meaning, friends where the guy can't resist how messed up this best friend of his is and show up in the door next morning, traveling miles so they both feel better." He said in a single breathe. And she stood speechless, she knew from the very beginning how it's going to take it ways yet she chose to continue with it and it has reached exactly as she expected. It was all the matter or turning away or staying the bubble.
"Are we really? Right from the beginning? Were we friends?" and she knew well the answer to that was no. but she decided to not give in easily.
"But we were. We chose to!"
"Did you really think I was a fool to let you know everything about me? And share everything that was important to me?" and they stared into each other while he waited for her answer. She didn't say anything. She couldn't. And he approached her. He put his both hands on either side of her face and slowly kissed her lips. She froze. She didn't know what to do. He kissed took her lower lip as he put his one hand around the waist while the other held her face, leaning back in the couch. Suddenly something struck her and she pushed him back.
"We are only friends!" she forced herself to say and she got up from the couch. She walked straight out the door and closed it behind her. She felt her heart pounding louder and wanting it. Wishing to be with him. But her head and her heart constantly battled between the right and the wrong. She sat there down on her knees for a moment and got up. She walked again, deciding what would be good for her for the day. And she reached.
