Chapter 7 - The True Vampire Bride Ch 2 Part 1

Chapter 2

It seemed to be one of the longest days of my life, as it was decided that me and my oldest brother would be leaving with the Vampire lords shortly. And it was also verified that our village would remain a complete secret. Our bloodline was just too important for future generations. Right now, despite how I feel about it, a cursed fate is all that awaits our family. Now and in the future. As for fresh blood in the village, the vampire lords decided that they would bring the children, under the age of three who had lost their parents, to live in the village to help further spread out the bloodlines. Insisting on giving their family the most to spread the special bloodline even further. I felt as though there were a hidden thought behind it, but did not voice it, I was too angry. The chief happily accepted to his terms without much argument. The look of relief on his face was more than apparent.

The astonishment I showed was enough to make my shock show on my face. Almost as if all the villages leaders were waiting for this day to come. All I could do was stand there by my brother wondering how much longer they would keep the secret of our linage. We said our goodbyes to our family. Our remaining siblings each hugged us tightly, as they were on the verge of crying. Our mother, far too sick to even see us off, a sad expression plastered my face at the thought. All me and my brother asked of our remaining siblings is that they let the next and future generations know of our vital importance. And never to keep it a secret from the family ever again. That would be our only comfort in the dark times to come as we were to head out and stop the lessor problem. Saying goodbyes to our siblings, it was the hardest thing we ever had to do, We then headed back towards the main gate with little more than ourselves and a small bag each; fishing poles attached to the side with a small med kit. It was all we bothered to take, traveling light seemed to be easiest. We then headed to where the village chief awaited us with all the vampire lords. As he seen us coming, the village chief began to speak once again.

Village Chief: (With a smile on his face, he declared proudly…) "The time has come. And the terms of our concealment have been agreed upon. To help ensure we are safe, the lords have agreed to place a barrier around our mountain pass. This will help keep out the lessors as well."

Kaida Endo: (A look of surprise clearly showed on my face…) "Wow, they have that ability?! Who would have thought?"

Village Chief: "Yes, plus their charges have already taken care of the stray lessors that killed the farming couple. And scoured to make sure no others have come following. With the barrier in place, the lessors will not be able to cross anymore."

Kaida Endo: "That is so hard to believe. But I am glad that the village will be safe. And soon enough new village members should arrive. So, I imagine you and the others will be busy sorting who will become the foster families."

Village Chief: "Yes. I imagine we will be so we must prepare. The lords are going to bring them within the next two weeks. It will be nice to have some new blood incorporated into the village."

Kaida Endo: "I see. Hopefully, the healer will have someone helping him so he can keep up with the new arrivals. I am only sorry I will not be here to help. I did try to get him to take on another apprentice. And now it looks like he will have too."

Village Chief: "You are helping, by following your families predetermined destiny. Now go. Help to control the lessors that have gone unchecked for way to long. There are things in this life that cannot be controlled and then there are those things that can be fixed and brought back to proper order. You have the ability within you two to fix both of these things. Now help put things right."

Kaida Endo: "Well I suppose there is not much left to be said on the matter. Me and my brother will go and attempt to fix things. All we ask of you is that you tell my family linage throughout the upcoming generations. Knowing we are that important, at least let the family itself stay informed. I do not like the idea of them being shocked into this like I was. I mean really, it was far too important to be left in the dark on."

Village Chief: "The request is more than fair. After all, it does involve the only family that can fix things. I will make sure the knowledge is passed on, even if I have to write a book out to ensure it."

Me and my brother smiled softly at each other, I took a deep breath looking at my brother with a newfound resolve. He looked at me in turn as if to say, "Let's do this already". Taking each other's hand for support. We walked slowly toward our unwanted fates. We would leave behind three brothers and two sisters to help continue the bloodline. The other side of the gate had been an area we had never been passed, except for checking on the farmers. We turned looking at the closing gate one last time before going straight toward Botan Date. He softly smiled as we approached and led us to the small horse drawn cart that had been prepared for us in advance. He then shouted orders to a small group of his garrison to make sure our cart was well guarded. We were to follow directly behind the four lords as our newfound journey toward a most unwanted future began. My brother took up the reins in his hands and lightly cracked them as the order to move out was given. The sound of hoofs beat the ground as I looked back one last time to the only place I or my brother had ever known as home. My brother then turned his head to as if he were silently saying his last farewells also. A look of melancholy on his face that I had never seen before. And so, we set out to Botan Date's manor. The journey was going to take around a week to complete considering the mountainous area we were navigating. It was incredibly hard to believe the lessors managed to find their way all the way out to where our village was. We managed to travel roughly ten miles that first day. Man did my backside let me know I had never used a wagon before. Thankfully, we had left somewhat early in the morning. We stopped near the river and proceeded to set up camp. The wagon provided to us was large enough for the both of us to sleep in after putting a covering on. After finishing our preparations on the wagon, we then turned our attention to getting something to eat. With poles in hand we headed to the river to fish for our supper. Not exactly sure as to whether vampires partook of anything other than human blood, I hesitatingly asked Botan Date the one question I was so damn curious about. My only hope was that I did not get laughed at for asking him.
