Chapter 1 - I'm Different: Part 1

"Long story short, this was a bit of an unprecedented change of event," God said.

A boy and a holy white light were standing together in a white room. The reason they were there was because of an accident that was unexpected. The boy was standing in the middle of the white room. He was talking to God.

"Your holiness, respectfully, why am I here?" The boy asked him.

"You're here because you were a failed subject that died during the summoning process. Well, to be frank, that was my mistake," God said.

"Your holiness, I believe that was your decision. Not a mistake," The boy said.

"I'm glad you understand. Ok, what do you want? You're supposed to be with your friends, but since you're here. What do you want?" God asked.

"Anything. You can read my mind, you know what's the best for me, your holiness," the boy said.

"Fair enough. Have a nice trip," God said and the room turned into another dark Abyss.

The boy's name was Lane McFarlane. He was a boy that was summoned to another world like every other generic hero that you had encountered before. He had short black hair and a tall posture.

A blinding flash appeared right in front of his eyes for a second. Just a moment later, he realized that he had arrived at something similar to a king's chamber. In there, he saw some of his friends.

He arrived at that world just in time before the king finished the speech. He looked around the palace like a confused boy he was. He was amazed by the structural beauty of that king's chamber.

It didn't take him too long until one of his friends stepped in to snap him out of his daydream. "Hey, wake up, we are in another world."

"I know. Duh," Lane said.

They were guided to the dining room of the king for a banquet. Weirdly enough, they were still in their school uniform. Nevertheless, the students followed the king whether it was because of the fear that the guards would attack them if they refused because they knew that the king wouldn't do anything to them.

But before that, the king didn't take them to the dining hall. He took them to a room where there were a large number of pictures that resembled a mosaic art. In the middle of that room, there was a crystal ball. The students had no idea what was going on.

"Hero. The crystal ball will give you a weapon that suits your combat style," the king stood beside the crystal ball. One by one, the students touched that crystal ball.

Once the student touched the crystal ball, the crystal ball glowed brightly and a weapon appeared right in front of them. It was either a colorful sword, a staff, a magical device, a bow, a lance, or a dagger. Nevertheless, everyone gets their own weapon according to their preference.

"Look, I got a sword," one of the students said. It was a rainbow-colored sword, the metal reflected the light and made some illusion as if the sword was rainbow.

"I have a bow," one of the students said. It was a white bow that was very light and very easy to use.

"Look, man, I have an ax," one of the students said. It was a black ax that emitted a very dark aura.

The students got their weapon and they were holding it proudly. It was Lane's turn after that, he held the crystal ball on his hands. Nothing happened. The crystal didn't glow. There wasn't any weapon in there. Lane was confused, "What???"

"Maybe you're too weak," Kelly Sarn said.

"What do you mean?" Lane asked.

"Huh? You don't even get a status screen like us? Holy shit, you're that weak," Kelly said as he intimidated Lane with his big sword. Lane just flinched because he didn't want to get hit by the sword.

"Enough commotion, let's head to the dinner, shall we? I'll take care of him," the king said and they walked away from that room where the students were getting their weapon. The students walked to the dining hall.

Inside that dining hall, tables were arranged so it looked like that they were treated as some sort of royalty in that country. Lane took a seat right beside Julia, Julia was one of his friends. Lane and she had been in a relationship, but they were not for now.

"Welcome to the Falen kingdom. We're the kingdom that led the human in the fights against the demon. All of you are humanity's best hope for survival, don't disappoint us," the king said and the students were just simply confused.

They didn't understand a thing about fighting, but they had to do it either way, but still, there were some people that were very interested in fighting the evil demon.

"Let's go kill the demons your majesty, where should we start?" Kelly said as he raised his big sword above the table.

"Haha, I love your spirit but please calm down. We need to train you first so you don't die in our war. Like I said earlier, you're our best hope in humanity," the king said.

"Yeah right," Kelly said and he put his sword away.

The banquet was short since the students were probably very tired due to the fact that teleportation cost a lot of stamina. They needed a rest, so the king gave them a rest. The guards guided them to their own personal room where they could do their personal business there.

"Here's your room weak boy," one of the guards said and Lane just ignored it. He didn't want to look for any problem.

The room was a very large room with one giant bed and a table in front of the bed. Lane looked at that the bed, it looked so comfy. There were some books inside of that room, it might be the book of the previous owner of that room.

Lane opened the book one by one, most of them were books about the demons. It looked like the room was owned by a demon lover. The book title that caught most of Lane's attention was a book called "Pseudomonarchia Daeomonia." It was a book that told him about the demons.

The demons took a lot of form ranging from an invisible ghost to a humanoid creature like him. Demons had very large health, mana, and stamina pool. They were one of the strongest creatures in the world, one of them was more than enough to kill a hundred humans. It wasn't any surprise if the hero was the last hope for human survival.

'Well damn, these demons are very interesting. Just look at the quirks and features that they have, I wish I can be one since I'm very weak right now,' Lane said as he read the abilities of the demon.

He flipped from one page to another as he saw multiple pages on how the demon was created. Most of them used to be human, but with a certain ritual, most of the creatures in that world could be demonized. In short, the demon could make more demon by turning non-demon into a demon.

'Well, enough of demons. It's time to read another book. I don't know what is this world either," Lane said and he put the book away and switched to another book.

This time, it was the book about the geography and location of that world. The world was called Terra, it was the place where many magical creatures lived. The human lived on the north continent while the demons lived on the southern continent.

The world also had many mystic places like a dungeon, a mystical forest, a haunted castle, etc. Falen kingdom itself had six dungeons and two mystical forests. The dungeon was a dangerous place where adventurers could level up and harvest some loot.

Humans and demons were actually only a generalization of multiple creatures. Human was a generalization for a creature like Elf, Dwarf, Angel, Human demi-human, etc. Demon was a generalization for a creature like a vampire, demon, Medusa, Dragon, etc. The rest of the creatures that weren't humanoid were considered as an animal.

Lane also learned that some of the races on the human continent were treated as a slave more or less. Some features like demi-human were sold at an expensive price at the slave market.

Talking about the market, there was also some explanations about the market in those books. The people on the northern continent were using coins for their transactions. The coins were in gold, silver, iron, and copper. The book explained the exchange value of the coins. In short, a gold coin was ten times more valuable than a silver coin.

After reading all of those books, Lane felt very sleepy and he decided to call it a day and went to sleep.
