She gave it some thought, tapping her chin with a claw "Hmmm... that would be around tomorrow or two days at most." She said "It would be best if we do not stay here to save them some trouble and ours as well so we can quickly get this over with." Shadow and Nimbus chose this time to come back.
"So… what we'd miss?" He asked pulling the chair backwards and sitting with a pleased smile which made me steal a glance at Sora who was having a guarded expression.
"Nothing much other than the 'ceremony' taking place tomorrow and Star suggesting we go out to avoid them raiding our place with their 'guardly duties' to carry out the process." Ruby said as she pulled off a small trick throwing up the knife in her hand and catching it by the tip before using it for its original purpose. Nimbus glanced at Sora then back to her food before silently eating with a plain expression or that's what she wants us to see.
For the remainder of dinner there was an awkward silence without a word exchanged as due to the gloomy mood of the upcoming 'ceremony'. Even the usually flavourful food tasted bland without a single pinch of salt, it seemed that even Nimbus was slightly irked by this mood as well. The awkward situation soon ended as the food upon the platters disappeared before us. We shuffled out into our rooms dreading the event tomorrow hoping it was not us.
Even the optimistic Star had nothing to say to lessen the tension, neither could Shadow come up with a ploy to change the mood. Me and Sora entered our shared room with me closing the door behind us. It didn't seem like the mood but I still asked "What did you hear going on between Shadow and Nimbus?" I asked her trying to lighten up the mood since no one else was around.
She flopped onto the bed with her boots still on, her hair flopping around her head like an oversized fan. She hesitated before sighing "Things that were shocking, looks like they are having a secret relationship although Nimbus is taking things slow. Don't ask, I don't have the slightest clue on how this started but apparently it did."
I sat down untying my shoes laces cracking the gears in my mind "It seems that even having a relationship with another elf is unlikely for her so it's even harder to believe the two are actually in a relationship. It seems either Shadow managed to impress her enough with one of his tricks or he somehow was able to gain her attention and affection." I concluded even as my mind continued to churn out possibilities.
It's hard enough just to gain her undivided attention, getting even the slightest signs of affection from her is something that no one could even dream of. I looked to Sora who had already fallen asleep with the candy on her nightstand blown out. I glanced towards mine and blew it out, the flames flickered for a second, rebelliously staying alight before evaporating, casting my surroundings to an eerie darkness.
I laid down and closed my eyes as more thoughts formed in my hyper active mind. She kept her past life away from everyone and was always on guard, even more so than Sora. We only knew a small bit of her past on why she ran away, she was somewhere in between for age compared to her siblings but was always shunned.
