With my intervention it went back to being a free for all with me at a disadvantage as I joined in last. Yet I fought on, the point system was not the best but it's better than nothing. Whenever you manage to hit a vital spot that could mean instant death you get a point. The sisters were shooting blunt wooden arrows and occasionally whipping out a knife for close combat. Shadow was dogging them and going in for the kill on Ruby while I made my way towards Emerald blocking and dodging arrow shots.
We battled with each other till the sun started to set firing bolts of yellow and orange through the darkening sky. We placed the wooden weapons back in place and went back into the tent covered in sweat and dirt from falling. I opened the door and went in first, Star has gone off into her own room where she tinkers on her own projects.
Nimbus and Sora were already done and was in the process of cleaning up, Grusk was still outside but he should be back soon. We parted ways and went to freshen up at the underground spring, split between males and females obviously. We went to a corner of the place to a trap door which has always been open and descended through the winding stone stairway. It has been here since we first built this place, all we did was reinforce its structure with wooden posts.
We walked through the comforting light from the Sunstones embedded in the walls, casting a warm fiery glow. The sound of our foot fall echoed through the passage, coming back to us like phantom whispers of the night. Yet we had gotten used to these whispers a long time ago so they do not bother us anymore. After a while of walking, the passage opened up into a cavern with a hot spring in the center.
We got lucky when choosing a spot for camp, when building the 'fort' we found this abandoned passage. We later added the Sunstones and replaced the rotting beams. It was not big but neither was it small, it was split into two sections for males and females. We congratulated each other on the fight before going into the changing rooms to enter the spring.
I slipped out of my current clothing and put a towel over my groin. Then I splashed a bucket of water over myself for my body to get used to the springs heat. After that I made my way into the spring and lowered myself into the water, the steam coiling up like snakes against my skin. I gave a contented sigh, the training today went well and I have learnt a thing or two about how to improve my skills. Through the other side of the wooden wall I could hear the girls chatting to each other.
"I wish there were more of us boys so we can have more of a proper chat." Shadow said "There are only three of us guys, only two who can properly speak!"
