I sighed looking into her green eyes, "I may not like how you said it but as Star says you're not wrong, it was just a matter of time."
"Me may not have good family, but me learn to appreciate them as nothing lasts forever not even of old stories" Grusk said in his orcish accent trying his best to offer comfort despite his broken English.
"Besides, we are and will be here for you as we-" Emerald said before Ruby interrupted her "as you said are your family as well" she finished grinning before Emerald throttled her off the chair furious at her twin sister stealing her lines.
"Uh oh, fight big between sisters again." Grusk muttered before getting up and going over to the twins to break up their fight. With his strength he lifted the two of them up by the collars of their shirts breaking up their fight before giving them an earful of broken english.
Despite everything, I found myself smiling 'perhaps, just perhaps this is not as bad as I thought after all I do have another family and they are right here' I thought silently to myself. Star pulled away after that observing her surroundings nervous of the ruckus happening all around. After noticing it wasn't going to stop so soon, she retreated to her pillow by the fireplace to read a book.
I got up and walked away from the commotion and sat on a couch overlooking majority of the place. I took a book from a nearby shelf and started to read through its contents. I mostly only read about art, history and combat related books unlike Star, who reads any type of book regardless of its topic.
I lost myself in a new world of ink, words and information while the noise of the one I was in faded away. I eagerly swallowed up any information on the lands outside the walls. Even more on how the world was like before the void descended upon the world with the gleaming ocean and lively forests.
I wonder what the world was like before the fall? The descriptions of so many places and biomes each one hosting a unique ecosystem and weather. The animals and creatures there were all completely foreign to him but he still kept them in his mind. Yet as far reaching these dreams may be, he still clung onto them as it's one of the few things that keep things going inside these walls.
