My eyes were still locked on the kunoichi. Her eyes lit up with excitement as she slid off her small mask as well as pulled back her hood.
A pair of long, pointed ears flicked out from underneath. They weren't as far back as mine, but they were damn close.
Her platinum blonde hair was carried slightly with the breeze. It smelled of evergreen trees.
"Noble? How do you interpret that?"
"Ears! The further back they are, the more noble the bloodline. Even the high elves and dark elves have that custom, but we wood elves, we rarely see one of us with so much nobility."
I scratched my head slightly.
"Eh... I'm not a wood elf."
Her smile twitched, but she didn't seem fazed.
"Thats whatever! Do you have any people with you? Any servants or guards?"
"Whatever we elves have, a tribe, clan, colony or whatever, I don't have one. My parents were killed by human slave traders. They wanted to sell me for some serious money, but a monster attacked them. My cage broke, so I booked it. I lived in Autumn Village for years, dreading the day my death would come. I'm only here because I didn't give up. I got stronger."
Her eyes had tears glistening in them.
"I lost my people too. We were attacked a few year back. A damnable Dark Lord did it. He destroyed so many homes, raped many women, and tortured so many more. I only escaped because my elder sisters kept me hidden. I still remember climbing out of the hidden cellar, watching the light fade from their eyes, and crying a corner for weeks."
Pure instinct took over as my hand lightly touched hers.
"You got stronger too. I mean, you're standing and ready to fight. It's amazing how far you've come."
She smiled slightly, her hands trembling under my touch. Memories can be such a pain...
"So, care to tell a fellow elf your name?"
"Myria. A wood elf from the western forests. You?"
"Xero. An albino dark elf from... nowhere. Hehe."
I guess meeting new people can do some amazing things.
