We had been travelling for three days already. Night was closing in, so camp was set. I was today's lookout, staring off into the trees, bored out of my mind.
"So... how's the watch going?"
"Boring. You're in my head, you know this. Most of the creatures in the forest are scared of me, aren't they?"
"No. Not you. I think it's her."
I could feel Lilly pointing off towards my hooded companion. She was sharpening her pair of daggers, each twice the length of my own shoddy piece of crap. A small black mask covered her eyes, keeping us from seeing her face.
"She's strong, but it's like she doesn't even want to conceal it."
I turned away quickly, her eyes darting up towards me.
"This sucks. I already miss Nera and Yumi. I know they aren't helpless, but I feel better being able to see them."
"You've opened your heart to them, allowing the bond to really take root."
"Hey, are my feelings for them real, or just..."
I could feel tears stream down my face as my mind went into a bad direction. If my feelings are fake, aren't their's?
My arm covered my eyes, forcing the tears to slow down. The glasses resting in my other hand.
"The DLS doesn't create feelings. It only binds souls together. What you feel is real. You love those girls with all you have. This is how it should be, and how I hope it'll continue to be. Even with me."
I barely heard the last part, but I knew what she meant. Placing the glasses back on, I began surveying again... she's gone?
"Are you okay?"
Over my shoulder, the kunoichi type girl was looking down at me. She had climbed higher than me in an instant, to check on me.
"Y-yea. Why?"
Her eyes were actually full of worry. They were also quite lovely up close, an aquatic silvery blue. Maybe she wasn't glaring earlier?
"Curiosity. Just checking, as you're up here all alone. The other two are fooling around in that tent."
Ah... thought I heard a girl moaning earlier.
"I don't know how they are so carefree. The cave is filled with incredible beasts that can kill us if we aren't careful."
"The two of us should be fine."
Her words weren't to console me. She spoke as if stating a fact. Who is she?
She leaned back on her branch, stretching out a bit. Her body is not a bad sight.
"Stop staring. I'm not eye candy."
I laughed a little as I slid my glasses off, wiping my eyes... fuck.
My eyes flashed up, locking with hers.
"You..."
Pushing my glasses back up, I attempted to talk, but she pulled my glasses back off.
What the hell?!
"You're an elf. Your ears, you're of noble elven blood!"
...
...
Huh?
