Chapter 1 - You Don’t Belong Here

The Divine Calendar, early autumn of the year 1024, where the gods rule.

Above the clouds of Mortem existed the city where the gods reside. The gods existed to help keep the balance and peace of the world, but soon the gods would lose that which they maintain.

The gods were deceived by the very humans they supported for many centuries. After a long period of time helping one another, the humans concluded that the gods were too powerful to be kept alive.

The gods were much stronger physically and spiritually than any human. This concluded that even the strongest human could be no match for the weakest of gods. Admittedly this frustrated the humans to the core of their bones. They didn't want to believe that the gods could hold so much power against them.

This would spark the idea of a revolution. The humans believed that they should be the strongest race to ever exist, and decided to declare war against the all mighty gods.

As long as the humans believe they could win the war, they would fight to the very end. Because of this thought of a revolution, the humans and gods have kicked off a war that has lasted for twenty-four years. Sadly this war does not seem to have an end any time in the near future.

Teaching in front of the lecture hall was a young woman, clothed in a long white dress that covered most of her perfectly fit body.

The woman who was teaching taught the next generation of gods about the war and the relationship between the two races. She was meant to train and teach the children to fight against the humans and bring peace to the world once again.

During the middle of her lesson, a student that sat at the back of the lecture hall stood up and cut the young professor off. "Sister Ione, if we are in a war with the humans why do we house one of them within our own lecture hall?" He spoke clearly and boldly to the professor.

At that exact moment, everyone in the room understood where the young boy was coming from. All their eyes had made their way to Zomarus, another young boy who sat near the entrance of the hall. His dark brown hair covered his eyes as though he was trying to hide among his peers.

"That is very true. How did a mortal get above the clouds?"

"Zomarus is that human kid isn't he? Why is he even in our world? He should be sent down to the unholy lands with the other trash."

Many students started to whisper to one another as they glanced down at the boy.

Sister Ione spoke up for her student, "Lurtar! We will not disrespect our fellow classmates. Zomarus has as much right to be here as anyone else does." Sister Ione placed a hand on Zomarus' shoulder to make him feel less targeted.

This wasn't something that Zomarus wanted. It actually made him feel more targeted since their sexy professor was actually holding onto him. Most of the guy students and even some of the girls looked at Sister Ione as a goddess who should be protected. Now that she was having physical contact with Zomarus, he could feel the many eyes piercing the back of his head.

Lurtar, the boy who had stood up earlier sat down as most of the students began to silent down at their goddesses' request. No one dared to talk back to the goddess, but they could still hold a grudge on Zomarus for touching Sister Ione.

As soon as the lecture finished Sister Ione made her way out of the class and left the children alone to take their leave.

Zomarus was normally the first one out of the door, but before his hand could pull on the door his entire body stopped from fear. Fear was a technique that only high-level gods could use unless they were the child of death herself.

"Where do you think you're going? A mere human should not act so casual against our goddess." Lurtar started to make his way down the steps and towards the sacred body of Zomarus. Soon Lurtar applied more fear on the human's body which began to break until he was on the floor trembling with it.

At this point, everyone had their eyes on the two boys in front of the lecture hall. Everyone hated the human but none thought that someone would actually challenge him. Zomarus was no match for the son of death, especially someone who was able to use a Demigod-level technique at such a young age.

[The gods have five levels of techniques. The five levels are Human, Angel, Demigod, God, and Supreme God level technique. The technique can be learned or inherited by one's parents.

While one can learn a high-level technique the gods still have power levels in which they are placed. God levels can be separated from level D through level S, and in between the levels are tiers that go from one to ten.]

Lurtar was one of the most powerful students in the class at a level, D-3. Many students could not understand why Lurtar would bother with a student who was not even ranked in the god tiers. Most students were in the D-1 tier, but only three students had gone past D-2, Tura, Lurtar, and Iva respectively.

"Why would Lurtar bother with him?" Said one of the fellow students that were spectating the fight.

"Why are you still here? You do not belong here… You are just a man amongst us gods." Lurtar said as he started to stomp on Zomarus who was still on the ground trembling.

As Lurtar continued to beat on Zomarus students came to silence as the school beauty began to stand up. The school beauty was also the most powerful person in the class, Iva. Iva was a tall and slender girl who was a superstar in the making. Many came to a stop as she made her way down the steps and towards the two boys.

"Do you think she is going to stop Lurtar?" Asked one of the students in the back as they focused on the girl with beautiful black hair.

Iva then passed the two guys and walked through the door and left the lecture hall. Once she closed the door all the guys in the room came together for a big sigh of relief.

"Haha, you really think a beauty like her would stop for such garbage." Lurtar laughed at the other students as he kicked Zomarus in the stomach for the last time before running after Iva.

The entire class was silent as Zomarus was left on the ground. Many of the children did not say anything to him or even look towards his direction.

A couple of minutes passed as Zomarus was the only one in the lecture hall as a quiet sob echoed across the room.

He could still remember the fear that was placed on him as the technique would make the subject think of their worst fears. Zomarus understood that he was different, but why did they have to do this to him? While many of his kind are bad, Zomarus did not do anything to them, so how could they do this.

Zoamrus was a human, in fact, he was the only human that lived in the "City Above The Clouds". Not even Demigods we're allowed to step foot in the city since they were blended with the blood of the tainted.

This would only make it even more confusing that Zomarus, a full human, did not fall through the clouds. Besides being human Zomarus was the child of two powerful gods that were truly in love during their marriage.

No matter how one looked at it, two gods could not give birth to a full-blooded human, especially one that could stay on top of the "City Above The Clouds".
