Chereads / A Man Among Gods / Chapter 6 - Understanding Energy

Chapter 6 - Understanding Energy

A week had passed since the training secession and most of the academy heard about the battles through the great vine. Even stronger gods in the academy heard about the human who was almost killed by a god.

Zomarus didn't attend classes for the entire week and many started making rumors that he had actually died, but it was nothing but rumors for the school to talk about. While people couldn't understand him, Zomarus was actually training his spiritual energy on his week off.

That day Zomarus would return to the academy after suffering an injury that left him out of classes for the week. Once he entered the lecture hall many of the students were looking at him and whispering about him.

"Okay quiet down children. Before we start class let's welcome back Zomarus."

Sister Ione said as she entered the room. Many did not care about his return but since the beautiful goddess told them to welcome him most of the guys in the class began to clap to get on her good side.

"Now that everyone's here let us begin our lesson. Today we will be discussing the spiritual energy that surrounds us and the souls that occupy the world. As many of you know everything that is alive has a soul, and us gods have a rather big soul presence."

In front of the lecture hall was a large chalkboard that spanned the entire wall. Sister Ione started to draw two people on the board, she labeled one as the humans and the other gods. Inside the human body, she drew a circle no bigger than a ping pong ball, and the other she drew a circle ten times the size inside the god's body.

"As you could see here, gods and humans have two different sized souls. A god's soul space could be many times larger than the strongest human, and since we have larger souls we can hold much more spiritual energy than a human. Can anyone explain to the class why spiritual energy is important?" Sister Ione asked the class hoping that someone would speak up.

After a while of silence a young girl with long black hair stood up and started to talk, the young girl was Iva the school beauty.

"There is energy all around the universe. Spiritual energy is what gives us gods the power that we have, since our souls are much larger than any other creature we can absorb more energy. The more spiritual energy one has the stronger their body becomes."

After speaking she sat back down to applause from her classmates.

"That's correct Iva. Spiritual energy is something that does give us our strength, but spiritual energy is something that powers everything around us. The trees, the air, and even the animals that roam this world. Only the strongest can absorb so much energy and become a supreme god, and that's why you guys have entered this academy. To become supreme gods and bring peace back to the world."

Sister Ione opened a box beside her desk, and inside the box contained pots with little seeds inside of them.

"I will come around and pass each of you a pot. Once you get your pot you will plant your seed and transfer your spiritual energy into the seed. Students in the past have been able to sprout a stem, but some talented students have been about to sprout a flower and even made it blossom. You will be given half an hour to transfer your energy into the plant and then discuss what that means for your soul size."

Once she finished explaining to the students she passed all the pots out and waited for the students to finish.

Most of the students were still transferring their spiritual energy, but one had already finished with the transferring. It was Iva, she had finished and in front of her stood a beautiful violet. The violet was bigger than any violet that they've seen, and it had a beautiful color to it. The aura of spiritual energy could be felt from the violet which shocked even the professor.

"Wow expected from such a beautiful girl. Someone as beautiful as you producing such a beautiful flower."

The voice that had been praising Iva had been Lurtar. It wasn't a secret that Lurtar had feelings for Iva but if there was someone to win the heart of the school beauty it would be him.

Another ten minutes passed and the only other person who was done was Lurtar. But his flower was different from Ivas'. His flower was a black rose. The rose was beautiful but it was nothing compared to the violet that was sprouted by Iva.

Soon the thirty minutes were up and many of the students started to compare their seeds. "Look at mine. I got a little stem to come out, it's so cute" one girl said to the other.

Many of the students had sprouted little stems and some even had little leaves coming out from their stem.

"Hey look over there. Tura made a flower but it looks like it couldn't blossom in time. But that's still impressive since I couldn't get one leaf." A random student said out loud to draw attention to her.

But several seats down was Zomarus and many started to talk about his seed.

"What's wrong with him? The pot only has soil in it."

"It looks like he couldn't even spout anything. What a waste of space." After those words were said many of the students began to laugh out loud.

Tura looked towards Zomarus but could only see his head looking down at the empty pot. She wanted to reach out to him but could not with class still in progress.

Zomarus' pot was empty, without knowing anything people would think that there was no seed, but sadly there was. The seed did not grow or show up at all. Zomarus knew that he was not as strong as any of the gods in his class, but he did not think he was that weak compared to them.

His fist was balled up wanting to punish everyone in the class who was laughing at him and looked back at them. Most of the students were laughing but his eyes connected with Tura's but she wasn't laughing. She didn't laugh, she just looked at him with a little smile. Zomarus couldn't look at her and looked away minding his own business.

"Okay settle down. Everyone has different souls and it is actually quite difficult to understand the spiritual energy around us so please don't laugh. That's going to be the end of our lesson of spiritual energy. After lunch, we will be learning about the history of the great houses."

After announcing lunch she left the lecture hall and let the students go for lunch.

The students had now settled down and started to make plans for lunch. But to everyone's surprise, Tura was the first one to make a move but not towards the door but towards a student's desk.

"Would you please join me for lunch?"

Tura's gentle voice had echoed across the room. She was talking to Zomarus and this came as a shock to everyone, even Zomarus himself.

"Wow, I never would have thought that she had such a gentle voice. Too bad she's talking to him and not me" many of the students started to say to themselves and out loud.

It became silent when Zomarus got up from his seat. Not a single word came out of him as he walked out of the classroom. Had he just rejected Tura's innovation to lunch? He was crazy to do so.

However, Zomarus came back and looked into the lecture hall.

"What are you doing standing there? Aren't you joining me for lunch?"

He said with a smile on his face, and without hesitation, Tura gave him back a smile and exited the classroom together.

"Are they a couple?"

"When did the two of them become so close?" Many rumors started to pop up between the two during lunch.

After five minutes the entire room was empty besides Iva who still sat in her seat. She opened her eyes and walked towards Zomarus' desk. After a glance around to make sure no one was there she began to dig up the soil and viewed the seed.

The seed had actually sprouted, but instead of sprouting into a stem it actually made complex roots inside the soil which were found all inside the pot. The roots and seed had an enormous amount of energy coming from it, the energy could even be compared to her own. This made Iva curious about the human and even made her smile.

"Looks like I have to keep an eye on you."
