The only people left in the room were me and Torappu, and I didn't like that. The atmosphere was thick, and I knew something was about to be asked. Something I'd been hoping to avoid being asked and having to answer.
I don't know how they figured out I wasn't from this world, but however they did, they knew. Maybe it's the way I've been acting? Maybe the fact that I've been trying to avoid being found out gave off the vibe that I was actually trying to hide something.
I mean, even I knew that once you mentally and physically tried hiding something without it being natural, everyone sooner or later will find out that you're holding secrets. There's a difference from trying to hide something to save face and hiding something because it just doesn't cross your mind.
Well, whatever. Even if they did know, I would just answer honestly. I don't know how I ended up here or even why. I just woke up here and where I stand now is where I'm at.
"So, Ki. You don't have Mana, do you?"
Wait...that's what it's about?! And here I thought they knew I was from another world. I prepped for the wrong test!
"How did you find out?"
"The second I saw you I knew."
"Vampire ability?"
"Yep. I can read others Mana, and also transfer mine." They winked.
"You're referring to the kiss, aren't you. That's what that was."
"Yep." They smiled. "Though it can be dangerous. My Mana is that of a vampire. It's already dangerous enough to transfer my Mana to someone else. It mingles with theirs. But to transfer it to someone that has no Mana..." They paused.
"I see," I replied. They didn't have to finish what they were saying to make it obvious. It could kill me.
"Can you explain it to me? Why you have no Mana, I mean," Torappu asked, their eyes sweet and innocent stared into mine. I could feel myself getting lost in them, like I was fading from consciousness. I began to speak, but then it occurred to me.
I used all my force to avert my eyes from theirs.
"Hypnosis," I said.
"Aw, you figured it out. Well, I'm actually surprised that you broke free from it. It isn't an easy feat."
I can actually think my emotionless reactions for that. I just numbed myself to any desires and I broke free. Ha, being a shut-in sure does come in handy! If not for that, I would've told Torappu everything and ruined my cover.
"I don't lie, so you don't have to hypnotize me to get an answer." As I spoke I kept my eyes off them, not testing the waters.
I didn't know if I could break free from another Hypnosis stare. The first one already drained all my mental energy just breaking free.
"Oh? Well then tell me." They sat on the desk and crossed their legs. It didn't help that I watched as they did so.
They were wearing a white skirt with a black shirt and white coat along with boots, one was white and the other black. And when they lifted their legs to cross them, I could make out the slightest outline of their panties.
"...Lace?" I asked. This caused Torapuu's face to turn red.
"Y-you saw! You pervert!" They put both hands between their thighs.
"I mean, I can't tell if you're a boy or a girl, so it's not like it's a turn on or anything. So don't flatter yourself." I wasn't actually trying to see them. I just so happened to see it cross my vision, really! I don't lie.
Now some panties I am trying to see...huh actually it's several girls. Sora, Rubellia, and Ellie. But really, I'm not a pervert! I'm a 17 year old boy. It's normal hormones.
"Rude...," They pouted. Guess they expected a different reaction from me but got this one instead.
"You want to know why I don't have Mana, right?" I changed subject quickly. Torappu nodded a reply. "To be honest, I don't know why. I've never had Mana in my body, ever since I was a kid." Obviously I was referring to when I was in the real world when I spoke. But they didn't know that. Plus, I wasn't lying when I said this.
"I see...you're telling the truth." They said quietly as the moved their hands to a thinking pose.
"I know. So can I go now?" I was already heading towards the door when I asked this, so I was going to leave one way or another.
"Yeah, have fun. Don't let my guild down." They waved me off as I walked out. "And don't let me down."
I don't know if I was hearing things, or if it was actually said. But I had no time to turn around and ask as the doors closed on me, truly signaling the beginning of my life as an adventurer.
It's been three weeks since I was randomly transported to this world and I was now level 28. My stats were in the 180's and me and my party have been getting along, for the most part.
When we quest, our minds work as one, so we don't need to be told the plan, we just understand.
As for me? I still haven't changed much. The only difference is that I speak willingly more than I used to. Other than that, I'm the same old Kichirou. People don't truly change, so don't expect me to either.
People put on these facades that they've changed, that they're a new person, and it may seem like that on the outside by the actions they're taking, but deep down, they are still the same person. There's a part of them that wants to say and do what they use to. The only difference is that they are now putting in an effort into not doing that. That's exactly what I'm doing.
