Chereads / Why Did the God of Love Choose Me?! / Chapter 19 - Chapter 18

Chapter 19 - Chapter 18

When I pulled my clothes out the bubble the first thing to hit me was the smell. They smelled clean. The bubble must be some kind of magic that cleans clothes. Like a washer and drier in one.

I put my boxers, pants and shoes on. I didn't put my shirt or coat on as I headed to my room. Han was already fast asleep as I put my clothes on the chair near my bed and plopped down with a sigh.

I guess I was tired, because soon took over me almost Immediately.

"Hey, Kichirou. Wake up before the girls burst in here and see you shirtless." Han had woken me up by shaking me slightly. I groaned a reply but did as told, putting on my shirt and coat and putting my hair back in a ponytail. I blew my bangs out of my face as I stretched. As soon as I finished Sora burst in.

"Are you ready for the dungeon?!" She said enthusiastically.

"Not so loud," I said as I walked past her to the hall.

"You sound disinterested but you sure are in a hurry to get there," Sora remarked as they all followed behind me.

"I've no idea what you mean," I sneered at her comment. She was right though, I did want to get to the dungeon. It was like a whole new adventure.

"Well, we gotta go inform the guild master before me head to a dungeon," Rubellia said as she did a light jog to get ahead of me. She walked backwards so she could face me as she spoke. "So, we gotta head to the guild."

"We should also go fill up on items after that," Han added.

"You think?" Sora said as she put a finger to her cheek in thought.

"I agree, after all, we're going to complete this dungeon." I said with a sly smile.

"Huh?!" Han looked at me. "What do you mean? No one's ever completed this dungeon, let alone any other dungeon."

"He's right. There's no way we can complete the dungeon. Remember what I said? 10 floors, level fifties made it only to nine." She said it like she was trying to jog a memory I had forgotten. But I remember it well.

"I know what you said. But they never even tried advancing to floor ten, right? Floor ten is the boss," I walked with my hands in my pockets and my back hunched slightly. Rubellia had turned forward again and slowed her pace so that she was next to me along with Sora on the other side and Han behind me.

"Boss?" Rubellia repeated the word like it was new to her.

"Basically just a big mob," I said.

"Mob?" It was Sora's turn to repeat me.

Guess they wouldn't understand gamer talk...

"Think of it like a big enemy," I simplified it.

"And how do you know this?" Han asked.

"Just a guess," I shrugged. "If there are floors and enemies getting stronger the farther in you get, then they've got to be protecting something, right? Like their boss."

"That makes sense," Has put a hand to his chin. "That's how the royal family's guards work too. With weaker knights and mages farther from the King and Queen while the stronger ones are nearby."

"But that would mean that...," Sora stopped mid-sentence. I already knew what she was going to say.

They have intelligence. All the monsters we've met in the wild were just that, wild. While the ones in dungeons had more intellect. They had a system going on in order to protect their 'King' or whatever they saw it as. There was a method to their madness.

"No way, Kichi," Rubellia grabbed my arm.

"What?" I asked. She had her breasts pressed against my arm and I found my gaze lowering down to them.

No! No! I must not stare!

"You just solved a mystery that no one else has been able to for years!"

"Mystery?" I was confused. What mystery had I solved? The intelligence thing? I thought that was obvious.

"Everyone's wondered why the monsters acted differently in the dungeons, and why the stronger monster didn't take the territory of the weaker ones like they did in the wild. It's because they were working together!"

"The weaker monsters would attack adventures, and as they got farther in they'd slowly get stronger," Han added.

"And then the adventurers would be too tired to fight the stronger ones and die!" Sora finished it for everyone.

Good job, ya'll figured it out. Want a cookie?

It's not that I was annoyed or anything. But no one understood the reason for the monsters behaviors until I said it? That's not good. I hope this didn't come back and make me famous or anything. That would cause to much attention.

"That's about the gist of it." A classical RPG style dungeon. And if what they say is correct, then this, technically, is only the first dungeon, being only ten floors.

I know I said I don't want to be famous or anything, but I wanted to be one of the firsts to beat this dungeon. My gamer instincts kicked in, I can't help it. I mean, can you blame me?

In my old life all I did ever was play games, completing all quests and conquering all dungeons. I left nothing unsearched. And now that I was in this world, I couldn't help but want to conquer it too. The one thing holding me back...my stats.

Seriously, why am I so weak?

Is this some cruel joke the god's of this world are playing on me? Maybe it's Loki, and he was playing some trickery on me. If that's the case, I'll kick his ass!

After our talk, we headed to the guild and spoke to Torappu. They agreed and allowed us to go exploring the dungeon. Apparently, it was known as the Gilmesh Dungeon.

After getting that approved, we headed to various stores to buy supplies. Apparently there were healing potions. That's actually pretty cool. At least in my opinion.

They had several types, low, mid, and high. Low-level potions healed any minor wounds like scratches. Mid-level potions could heal things like deep cuts. High–level potions healed anything. Even stab wounds.

Of course they didn't come without their faults. Unlike in RPG's were they restore your health, these don't. Your life won't regenerate, that's impossible. The potions just heal the wounds and restore some energy so you can continue to fight. Restoring health is something only time can do.

"Okay guys," Sora said as we approached the entrance to the dungeon. It had been a far walk from the town and was located in the heart of a forest known as the Forest of Gilmesh.

The entrance to the dungeon looked like that of a cave, but the strange thing was that there was a door at the entrance before you entered.

The door was large, spanning taller than any human. There was no doorknob, and it was made of stone. Carvings of a strange language encircled the outer rim of the door, and I found myself scanning them. It was strange, I had never seen this writing before, yet I was easily able to translate it.

"Don't bother trying to translate the writing," Sora said, noticing my gaze was following it. "It's a long lost language that not even the oldest Elf can tr-"

"Beware the dungeon of Gilmesh," I read the writing aloud, ignoring her statement. "For you shall face enemies here that are not of the same breed you have faced so far. You will endure many trials, but for all those who seek to push through, a great treasure awaits." I finished translating it. I turned my gaze to find the trio staring at me with their jaws dropped.

Don't stare at me like that.

"N-No way," Sora was the first to speak. "You...-"

"You just translated that?" Han finished. "That's pretty cool, Kichi." He patted me on the back with a smile.

"Just how many more tricks do you have hiding up your sleeve?" Rubellia asked with a questioning stare.

"You make it sound like I've been hiding stuff from you." Honestly, I didn't even know what that was or how I was able to translate the writing. "Anyway, let's head on in," I said as I opened the door.
