Chapter 22 - Chapter 21

That's all we could see. The room was pitch-black with not a single source of light in sight. I could hear the rustling of everyone's feet as we slowly moved forward.

The girls had grabbed onto my sleeve, I said nothing of it and just lead us through the darkness, one small step at a time.

"Did you hear that?" Rubellia said, freaking out. She had jumped and pulled my arm closer to her chest.

"You're hearing things," I said as I continued walking. I was glad they couldn't see my face, because I'm sure it was red.

"I heard it too!" Sora pulled my arm closer. I was beginning to feel like they were just making excuses to press my arm against their breasts, but then I heard it. The sound of something crawling. Like feet scurrying across the surface.

"Uh...guys" Han spoke from the darkness. "Look." I'm guessing he was pointing, but seeing as how none of us could see... "The ceiling." He must have realized that and corrected himself.

My gaze shifted upwards to the pitch-black ceiling. There was nothing, but at a closer glance, I was able to make out a small light.

It came from the ceiling and I focused my gaze on it. The light started off small, but slowly it got larger. I had a bad feeling about this, and that's not because the fact that it's shaped like an eyeball.

Wait, is that a pupil? It is!

And now that it was fully open, the light illuminated the body, showing hairy legs and a large hairy body.

"....Gohma?" I said as it fell to the ground with a rumble and the room was illuminated in a soft light.

"S-s-spider!" Rubellia shrieked as she ran back towards the door. Little did she know, it was gone, so she ran face first into a wall.

"Stay calm," I said as I twirled my sword. Heh, at times like this I feel like a total badass. "It's eye ball is it's weakness." I looked over at Sora. "You're our ranged fighter, so when you see an opening to shot its eye, do it. Everyone else distract it and try and give Sora a clear shot. Drive it up the wall if you have to!"

Gotcha," Sora said as Han and I ran at Gohma.

Clever name, right? I played all Zelda games several times over, that's where I got the name and figured out it's weakness. Man, if only this dungeon took part inside of a giant tree. Switch!

The thought raced through my head and the AI once again spoke in my head.

My class changed to a tank and my stats were distributed towards that class. I could feel the power surging through me, like Goku when he screams and powers up, thankfully I didn't have to scream.

We were holding off Gohma, with me and Han both distracting it and keeping it away from Rubellia, who was casting spells, and Sora ,who was waiting for an opening.

The fight wasn't easy. Gohma was a powerful giant spider and with each attack it crushed the ground where we once stood. Finally Han got a good hit on its leg causing it to let out an ear splitting screech as it ran up the wall onto the roof.

If my memory was correct it would soon start dropping things from the ceiling. I couldn't have been more wrong. It's eye closed and the room was enveloped in darkness once again.

Guess I got cocky and thought it would play just like Ocarina, but it wasn't the first time I was wrong about this worlds mechanics.

I wonder what it'll do?

I looked around in the darkness, trying to find it.

"Kichi," Sora called from the darkness.

"Yeah," I said letting her know I was still there. "We can't see it, but listen," I said and silence surrounded the dark room.

The sound of shuffling from above was loud in the large empty room, causing it to echo making it difficult to pinpoint. It would be impossible to track it like this. There was only one thing I could think of. A smile crept on my face as I called out to Rubellia.

"Hey, Rubellia, cast an explosion spell at the ceiling."

"But what if it collapses like the cave?" She replied ambivalently.

"That's the point," I said matter-of-factly . "First, it'll give us some light if only for a second. Second, when the ceiling collapses Gohma will come down with it." It was a risky plan of course, there was also the fact that we could be crushed as well. I left that part out though.

"Okay...I trust you," She said as she began casting the incantation for the spell.

That's the lamest thing about magic in this world, you had to speak an incantation. How the hell can you do that without getting embarrassed? There are rumors, though, that the most powerful and wisest magicians don't need to use incantations.

"Oh Mother of Flames, heed thy call and thy humble servants request," this must be a new spell because it's not one I've heard her incant before. "I call upon thee to bless thy staff with the power of a thousand suns, melt thy enemies skin and scorch the very earth itself" Her staff began to glow red and a ball of flame started to grow larger and larger at the end of her staff. "EXPLOSION SPHERE!!" The ball of flame shot from her staff and collided with the ceiling.

At first there was nothing as the ball of flame vanished, but then there was a bright flash and the sound of an explosion went off followed by an ear piercing screech from Gohma.

I shielded my eyes from the flash of light and I saw the others doing the same. We saw Gohma fall from the ceiling, followed by rocks that pinned it down. It struggled to break free, but I wasn't going to give it the chance.

Squatting down and putting my hands together I called to Sora. She saw me and nodded, understanding my plan. She began running at me then leaped into my hands where I lifted her up using the strength of my legs and arms, propelling her into the air above Gohma, where, like a dancer in midjump, she twisted and took her shot at Gohmas eye.

With one final weak screech, Ghoma went limp.

"W-we did it!" Rubellia said vexingly, almost like she didn't believe it.

"Yeah," I replied as I sheathed my sword and looked at the ceiling which now had a large gaping hole in it, allowing the moonlight to pour in like a silver waterfall.

Sora had landed and was now making her way towards me. "Kichi!" She jumped and wrapped her arms around me. "We did it, we completed the dungeon first. We survived!" She sounded excited but I could feel her shaking and the fast beating of her heart, to which mine now matched.

Seriously, this girl needs to stop pressing against me before she gives me the wrong idea. If she keeps this up anymore, I may not be able to control myself.

She let me go and smiled brightly. I patted her head with a soft smile. "You did good, we all did," I called out to them. Meanwhile my stats had returned to normal and I felt the strength leave my body as they balanced back out.

"Congratulations," a strange voice said to us. The voice came from a strange woman who appeared from thin air in the moonlight. They appeared to be an illusion, as she was transparent. "You did well to defeat my dungeon, and shall be rewarded as suited. For the archer, a skill I mastered in my years of training under the bow. It's a unique skill known as Elemental Arrow it allows you to change the element of your arrows before you shoot. It consumes a small amount of mana and uses normal arrows to function."

I heard Sora gasp as a ball of light came from the women's chest and flew into hers. She held her chest with her hand where it had entered and smiled softly.

"Next, for the mage. A scroll." A scroll appeared before Rubellia and she hesitantly grabbed it. "Inside is a grand spell. I cannot just teach it to you, you must read this scroll and understand its meaning for you to cast it." Rubellia nodded. "Now for the warrior," She turned her gaze toward Han. "You are a brave warrior, one who I see much potential in. You and your allies defeated my minitour which I had bestowed a gift on, and know I pass that skill on to you. Berserk." A red ball flew from the women's hand into Hans chest, similar to what happened to Sora.

Her body turned slowly and her gaze met mine. "As for you," she began. "You led these adventurers into this dungeon, kept them calm in times where others would panic, and conquered it. You are a true leader."

"I'm not a leader, Sora is," I said, trying to shrug of the compliment.

"Actually, Kichi," Sora began. "I want you to be the new party leader."

"Wait, what!" Before I could refuse a window popped up in my HUD informing me I was now the party leader.
