The minitour huffed before it lifted the sword up and slashed down at me. I side stepped and used my sword to glide it in the opposite direction. It smashed the floor a few inches away from me. It huffed again as it panted.
"Now!" Sora shot several arrows into the beasts flank while Rubellia cast an enchantment spell on Han. The buff on the HUD said it was a damage buff as he slashed its flank with the ax, cutting deep as blood spurted out from it.
In a fit of rage, the minitour roared out. "Get back!" I managed to yell out just as it recovered and went to swing at Han who just managed to dodge.
The ground shattered with a crack, sending a shockwave that sent me skidding back.
"Tsk! This isn't good." The minitour has a berserk skill, the last thing I expected. Because of that, it's attack and endurance have increased due to its lowered health. But a concern greater than that, was Sora's positioning to the minitour.
The beast raised its blade again, not even needing a second to recover from its previous swing. The direction the attack was heading was aimed directly at Sora.
Normally I'd have killed this thing already, especially if a member of the party was about to die, but that was in my MMO's, this wasn't that. This was real life, and I didn't have the power to do that. I couldn't just click a button and use my ultimate spell, or even pull out my Exotic sword that could one shot it. No, all I could do was sprint as fast as I could toward her.
I tackled her just as the sword slammed down, just missing my foot. "You okay?" I asked, tilting her head and checking for injuries. She had frozen up, and that's something you can't do in situations like this.
"Y-yeah..." She said as she looked at the ground away from me. "I'm sorry...," the words escaped her quivering lips. I stood up and helped her up as well.
She had no reason to apologize. She was scared, it's a normal emotion. Only reason I hadn't froze up was because of my cheat skill, Calm Mind.
"You're fine," I replied, putting my hand on her head. I slowly started petting it. "You got scared, but you don't need to be anymore." Han and Rubellia were distracting the beast as I comforted her.
Her face was red as I spoke and she slowly reached her hand up to mine. She grabbed and squeezed it. "Thank you," she had tears in her eyes as she spoke to me. "This is the second time you saved me." For some reason my chest tightened at the sight. I couldn't take my eyes off her, and I could feel my blood rushing through each individual vein when a window popped up in my HUD.

The second window appeared and my eyes widened. I had unlocked my class, and from what I read, it was a rare one called shifter. I was happy, but I was more focused on the first window. My relationship with Sora? Don't tell me that this world has an affection system.
Wait, that isn't a bad thing though...but even so, what affection system increases your stats? That hardly mattered though, what really mattered, was killing this minitour.
"Okay," I started, speaking to everyone. "The minitour is on its last leg, so it used its ultimate skill, it's a berserk skill. Its speed and strength have most likely been doubled, so be careful. It still has the same weakness, but it recovers much faster."
"So same strategy?" Han asked. I could see a small smile on his face as he looked at me, and I could tell he was having fun. A small smile creeped up on my face as well.
"Same one," I said. He nodded a reply and jumped back, Rubellia and Sora did the same.
I walked up to the minitour with my sword in my hand.
I hadn't been much help in this fight, yet alone any other. My skills didn't match the requirements for my level, and even with that increase in them they still didn't. But I wasn't going to let that hold me back. I'll prove to the world how strong I can be! And I'll start off by holding back this ugly bastard!
"Condition met. Stats leaning towards Tank skill. Tank skill has been reached. All stats have been reduced to 100 except for Defense, Strength, and Vitality which have been increased to 330." A voice that sounded like a female AI spoke in my head. If I were to guess, it was like a system message, or a tutorial voice because of my class being unlocked.
I felt much stronger too, like this minitour stood no chance against me. It swung its sword at me, and with a quick motion our swords made contact.
My feet sunk into the ground at the force, and my HP dropped a little. This was the power of a tank character, to hold off beasts like this. I was unstoppable!
"Now," I called to them as the beat swung once again at me. I deflected the sword and it slammed into the ground. We all charged at it.
I know earlier I told them not to try and kill it, to only attack a few times, but now that my strength was higher, I could actually do more damage. "Full assault!"
Everyone started using their skills.
I imagined myself using all my skills at one. I had unlocked several more from leveling up, for a total of eight sword skills. All our skills hit it at once. I quickly danced around the beast as I slashed it. I twirled, adding more slashes, ducking under it and stabbing it, then pulling the blade out, the last hit in that thirteen hit combo.
Blood spurted everywhere, from the wall, to the ground, and on us.
"Gross," I said as a slashed my sword, getting off any blood before sheathing it.
"Enemy defeated. Stats returning to normal." I felt myself get weaker and I sighed. I mean, my enemy was defeated, I didn't need to tank anymore, but that feeling of being weak was a bore.
I scratched the back of my head and was about to start walking when I was jumped. Not by monsters, but by the trio.
"What the-"
"Kichi! We did it! We killed the minitour!" Sora rubbed her cheek against mine.
"I thought we were dead for sure," Rubellia sounded like she was about to cry as she embraced me tightly.
"That was epic," Han said as he too hugged me. "But, what was that skill you just used?" He asked.
"What do you mean?" I broke free from the hugs, my face flustered.
"That thirteen hit skill."
"That wasn't a skill, it was several different skills used all at once."
"....You're saying....you used several different skills, and mixed it into one?" The look on his face was one of confusion. Naturally, I was confused too.
"Yeah, isn't that something anyone can do? Why do you seem so surprised?"
"No! No normal person can do that! Seriously, Kichi, who, no, what are you?"
Skill connect. That's what I had named that feat I did. Of course, I didn't come up with that myself, I had Reki Kawahara to thank for that. But it did as named, it connected my skills into one. It had also appeared in my status menu, after I named it, making it an official skill.
Anyway, he had asked me what I was, and naturally, I couldn't answer. I was a human being from a place called Japan. But if I said that, they would know I wasn't from this world.
Thinking quickly, I answered.
"I'm the same as you, a human. And just like all humans, we evolve after some time and adapt and create new things. I'm just the first step in this evolution, this adaptation."
"...You're making no sense," Han sighed. "Whatever, let's just get going. It's good to know you have more tricks hidden up your sleeve, like your class."
"Yeah, what is that?" Rubellia said carelessly. "It looks like a mixture of all the classes." She wasn't wrong. Just how they had a symbol next to their name telling their class, I now did too. But mine had a bow, sword, ax, spear, dagger, staff, and a chest plate, which was the symbol for a tank.
The trio all gave me questionable looks, but I could only tell them what I knew, like how I just got it and that I turned into a tank for a second during the end of that fight. My guess was they didn't believe I was telling the full truth, but that was because of the doubtful gazes they cast on me.
They questioned me no further as we approached the door leading to floor ten.
"Well, we thought the minitour was hard, get ready for the final boss," I said as I opened the door.
Black.
