Emyrs only had pity for the beings before him.
They were too weak to survive in this world.
[It is no wonder they flocked to the protection of the castle's defenses.]
Emyrs also did not know how to deal with the people in front of him.
[The primitive man actually dared to attack me.]
Emyrs' sense of his own superiority was growing a side effect of [Demon Monarch]
Emyrs did not want to kill him though. He could not do so yet.
He had never actually killed a human lifeform before.
As he wondered what to do, the people all began whisper things that drew his attention,
"Seelie..."
"Unseelie..."
....
"You," Emyrs pointed at a random Lycan. "What are you saying?"
The woman looked startled as if she did not want to be chosen.
"Un-unse-unseelie m-means...unholy." she stuttered.
Emyrs could understand the Lycan language.
Unseelie meant unholy while Seelie was holy. What he failed to understand was why he was being called these names.
"Why do you refer to me as unholy?"
"You have the wings of a beast."
Emyrs burst out into laughter. He laughed so loud and so well that the people around him failed to understand what was going on.
The people who were in front of him were growing into two factions. Those that believed Emyrs to be Seelie. The True Holiness of the mountain and those that believed him to be the Unseelie. The darkness that had come out of it.
Those that believed him to be Seelie, glared daggers at the woman who had spoken scared that she may have offended a being of power and lost them another protector.
What did it matter if he had the wings of a beast? Was the Protector not a beast? This being even spoke their language. He could be reasoned with. Pleaded with even.
As these thoughts were rushing through their minds. Some wished to speak out and say that the girl's thoughts did not voice the true feelings of them all but were too afraid.
When Emyrs finished laughing he spoke.
"It feels so good to laugh again." He glided onto the ground. "Fear not, I will not hurt any of you unless you try to harm me but I am yet to decide how the future will be between us."
Emyrs had been alone for too long. He needed people he could talk to and the Lycans were the ones who fit the bill.
"Go home for now. Return to me when the sun rises and I will give you my decision. Those who wish to follow me can and those who wish to see me as Unseelie, I will not stop you or harm you unless you dare to interfere with me or those that will follow me."
He spoke in a carefree tone but Emyrs was now a true predator. A giver of death's merciful release from this burdensome world.
Each of his words had weight and his threats, no matter how casual, were laced with a pressure that made hearts freeze.
These people had lived here for a long time. They had sharp instincts. They knew that Emyrs was a being that was unparalleled compared to them.
"By the way, who was responsible for all the Lycan sacrifices and bones that litter the front of my home?"
Without hesitation they pointed at Karr even those that had followed his plans willingly.
[Hmmmm you again. I see.]
Karr heard Emrys' voice in his head.
His mind nearly broke.
The power of [Demon Monarch] took effect.
"You are a true monster. [Call of Death]" the spell Emyrs had cast was very low tier.
It was classified as common and one of the first death spells players learnt to kill goblins and kobolds. It was mostly used by vampire death monks though.
Emyrs had used the spell for two reasons.
Firstly, to see if it would work. Since he had been reincarnated he had yet to use a low ranked spell.
And secondly, to see whether or not if he could use spells that had been outside his class in the game.
The answer came when Karr clutched the center of his chest as his body became pale and began to lose all the moisture in it.
A blue wisp rose out of his mouth and floated toward Emyrs and waited as though expectantly.
[What the hell? This blue wisp in the game would just sink into the ground.]
Emyrs extended his hand cautiously.
The soul floated of his palm and dissipated.
[A soul has been absorbed. Your soul has been reinforced.]
The notification scared him.
[NO...NO...NO...a problem for another day or millennia.]
Emyrs tried to act casual as though all this was expected.
He turned around and walked back to the castle.
