Chapter 11 - A Council of The Princes

Lucien walked into the castle gardens and found his brother and sisters in a heated conversation.

"Siblings, has something happened to the Lord Father?"

It had been four days since Lord Baptiste has entered a period of seclusion to gain experience and grow stronger.

He had left the management of the Castle and three hundred humans that chose to follow him to the Princes of Abaddon.

"Prince Lucien, welcome, brother." Uriel stated. "Asura has told me that Lord Emyrs plans to gift his own blood to the lower lifeforms we are charged with caring for and make them like Himself."

Lucien's jaw dropped for a moment but he quickly regained his composure.

"No one can be like the Lord Father." He stated Lucien. "The mortals are not worthy of this gift but neither are we to serve Him so closely. If it is His will then it can only be obeyed."

"How can you not be bothered by this, Lucien?" Asura asked. "The mortals stink of disease, age and filth. They are taking advantage of our Father's generosity!"

"The Lord Father is not a fool!" Lilith jumped in. "He will not be taken advantage of. He brought us into this world to serve Him and his needs. To question His will is to make the Princes of Abaddon your enemy."

"Calm yourself, dear sister." Uriel said. "Asura is simply stating a fact that worthy or not, should we not appeal to the Lord that He be more reserved with His precious blood that grants a comprehension into the laws of eternal life and power?"

Seeing a chance to not be misunderstood, Asura added.

"After all, they were born mortal. Their minds and conscience are not of the same constitution as ours. They are of this world. We are of the Lord. The Lord is a being that walked this land since before it anything formed true sentience."

Silence came as they pondered Asura's words.

"Elder brother, you who was brought into this world first and given the title of Firstborn, do you not understand how troublesome this is?"

Asura continued. "If they fail Him with the great gift he granted them, what will be of the Lord Father's heart?"

"Use us as tools with which you will sculpt the masterpiece that is your will." Lucien repeated the pledge they had made.

"Lord Emyrs is truly benevolent. Of the six hundred mortals only three hundred chose to follow Him. He did not take offense. He did not take revenge."

"Where are you going with this, Elder brother?" Lilith asked.

"Father knows what the minds of mortals are like yet He gives them chances to prove themselves better." Lucien said.

"He grows stronger to protect and understand more of the potential of we immortals. Should He choose to share His priceless gift then we have no say.

For us to even call Him, our "Father" is the height of our own hubris. We are His creations. His tools with which He accomplishes His goals."

As Lucien spoke realisation dawned on the faces of the other three Princes.

This in itself was troubling. They dared to call their creator, "Father" as though a being such as Him could have offspring as unfitting as them.

The fact that He allowed it was yet another sign of their master's grace and generosity.

The Princes were higher life forms compared to the mortals, yes but compared to Him...it was too terrifying to think about.

Slice of dry humility had been served by the eldest sibling and though the Princes had it, it truly was hard to swallow. They wanted to be close to the Lord Father.

They wished to serve Him in ways they could but if their Father wished it, He could create a hundred more of them.

This was the harsh reality. They too were lower life forms benefiting shamelessly from the Lord of House Baptiste.

"You are merciless in your reasoning, brother." Uriel spoke as though she were about to cry.

"What should we do then?" Asura asked. He sounded like himself but his eyes looked as though he were ready to cry too.

"We serve. We head our Lord. We protect but if and when those who seek to take advantage of His benevolence appear, we shall raze their existence from this planet such that not ash or soul remain." Lucien spoke.

His words seemed to help the others recover. Even Lilith, who had tried to appear stoic during her elder brother's deduction, seemed to be calm and breathing again.

"This is good." Uriel said.

"This is great." Asura stated. "You are truly the Firstborn. You will do well for the Lord Father's armies."

"We should meet up to talk more often." Lilith suggested. "With each other's insights we can serve our Father the best."

"You wish to use this to make yourself Father's favourite." Asura said. His words flipped a switch in their heads. A sense of friendly competition began to brew.

"The idea is just. We have our own duties. Input from one another would not hurt but whoever does the best at their job should become Father's favourite." Lucien said, also acting like a child now.

"So those in agreement for a council of Princes to be formed, shall we say for now, once a year and whenever two Princes request it?" Uriel asked.

"I, the Fourth, agree." Asura said immediately.

"I, the First, agree."

"The Second also agrees." Lilith gave a devilish smile. A smile that would later terrify the enemies of House Baptiste.

And so it was formed.

The Council of Princes that later became a grand affair known as "The Synod of The Princes" and when Emyrs was in attendance it became called "The Sod of The Supreme Beings."

And many mortal emperors would attempt to do the same with their heirs and nobility when deciding the directions of their empires.
