Chereads / Delphine of Moria / Chapter 37 - The Demon’s Weakness

Chapter 37 - The Demon’s Weakness

Simon has prepared himself to stick as many arrows as possible onto the cathedral night creature to assist Delphine during the battle. His bolts were long, sharp, and crafted with a special kind of steel that can pierce the most durable types of armor. Delphine continued to fight to the death against her powerful enemy and swung her greatsword with lots of fierce strength. She made sure she slices the demon on his body, and she needed to be accurate to every blow that comes her way.

"What good is an archer against me? I'll cut down both of you!" The creature shouted. Then, Delphine uses her greatsword and throws a sharp attack at her opponent, and he uses his tentacle-fingers to block it.

A few of the demon's fingers managed to tangle around her blade, and Delphine was trying to pull it back. Then, Delphine kicks the creature in the knee and forces him to fall; her kick was just as strong as his punches. Simon pulls out one arrow, and he aims and releases his shaft onto the demon's arm; Delphine gets behind the devil to make sure Simon doesn't hit her with the arrow.

"What?" The creature asked. He could feel the arrow stick on his arm and had a difficult time trying to pull the arrow out.

As he tries to pull it out, he could feel the tip of the arrow stinging his body and began losing a tad bit of strength. The demon did not have this type of problem with the other victims he devoured and the knights he fought against. Delphine looked all over and saw so much blood and gore stained on the walls, and she saw the night creature no was no longer able to throw strong attacks. The demon could still try and kill Delphine, but he lost the raw strength and ability to deliver a fatal blow. Then, Simon pulls out another arrow tipped with venomous poison and decided to land another arrow onto the creature.

"I think it worked," Delphine said. Simon then aims and shoots the demon with a second poisonous arrow and watched the demon shriek in pain.

Before he started following Delphine, Simon learned how to be a demon hunter and an expert archer after the demons destroyed his town and people. Ever since then, he despised the night creatures and everything they have ever done; he traveled across the world to hunt every last one of them down. He did all of that until he met Delphine of Moria, the ebony knight; he never forgot the day he first laid eyes on her.

"This... poison. I.. can feel it," the demon said.

"Now, the monster hunt begins for real. Creature of darkness, your time has come," Delphine said.

"But that won't stop me from butchering you! You're still going to die!" He shouted. Then, he comes across a large spear lying next to the wall, which seemed like it could pierce any armor.

The creature then thought it looked good to use as a weapon against his opponents, and he had more anger than ever against Delphine.

"Don't push your luck, knight. You won't get anywhere with just one word!" He shouted. Then, he uses the spear and pierces the ground, and he watches as the ground crumbles and rushes towards Delphine.

"Delphine!" Simon shouted.

"Where did you go?" The demon asked.

"Here!" Delphine said. She was behind his back, leaped onto the top of his shoulders, and had her sword pointing at his face.

"You!" He shouted. The mighty creature held onto his spear and parried the strong attack Delphine was about to use on him.

"Hang on, Delphine!" Simon shouted. He did not hesitate to help out his one and only friend who fought against the night creature.

He pulls out his long sword and begins slicing the demon's leg and back before he could do something to the ebony knight. Then, Simon rolls away from the creature's personal space and puts his sword back to his sheathe as he was trying to get out his bow and arrow yet again. The demon turns around to see that Simon was facing him to fight him, and Delphine was not finished with her enemy yet. She wraps her arm around the demon's stomach and uses her greatsword to stab him multiple times on the back. She was giving Simon plenty of time to launch another arrow onto the creature's body; she had a feeling he was helping out a lot with the arrows.

Then, Simon pulls out yet another arrow from his pouch, and he aims and fires the arrow onto the demon's body, and it landed on its chest. It was during this time that the creature was being filled with so much poison and venom in its veins. Then, Delphine had her greatsword driven into the demon's back, and she pulls out her dagger and starts slicing up his leg with it.

"The venom. My powers... impossible!" The creature shouted. Then, he uses his spear to try and pierce Delphine with it; this time, he was very quick at swinging his weapon against his opponent.

Delphine used her greatsword and parried the blow against the powerful demon, but it forces her back away from him. She lands on the ground with her sword stopping the dominant force from pulling her towards a wall and likely breaking her again. The demon could no longer say anything to his enemy because he was too angry to care about saying another word.

"Take this!" The creature shouted. He used his flailing fingers and made them all rush towards Delphine's body to rip her to shreds.

Delphine jumped away from his fingers and began running towards him to slice him up once more, and the creature's fingers were starting to follow her. As she ran, she held onto her greatsword to block the fingers from touching her armor; she refused to make them feel her again. The creature refused to give up on his strong enemy, and he thought of something new to do. His fingers pierced the ground and made it crack as he thought he would kill the ebony knight like he tried to do yesterday night. Delphine began to study his moves, where he gets it from, and how he is doing it; she had to react at the right time to strike back.

Then, she sprints away from the mighty creature's fingers the moment they penetrated the ground. Delphine was running as fast as the wind when she was getting closer to the demon, and she saw he still had his spear. She then kneels before the night creature and waits for him to bust a move on her. She had her greatsword held up to the ceiling and expected to do a fatal blow onto her opponent. The demon raised his spear and clashed with Delphine's greatsword; she gets up from the ground and slides forward towards his back.

Then without hesitation, Delphine uses her greatsword and slices off the demon's right arm, and the spear flies away from him. Simon watches as the spear falls flat on the floor, and the arm no longer holding onto the weapon. The demon never felt so much pain before as he could no longer get the strength he needs to grow back his arm. Delphine stood before the beast and had her greatsword pointing at his face and became more violent than ever.

"You... and that hunter, you..." the demon said. Delphine stood there and had so much fiery anger and rage against the creature who almost killed her yesterday night.

She profoundly hated the demons and the ones who made her what she is now; her sword was crafted to take down the mightiest and strongest of demons.

"What?" Simon asked. He had no idea why Delphine was standing there and could not do anything and finish the job.

Delphine had her eyes closed and tried to conjure up a power that seemed like the only way to help her out more than anything.

"That's amazing. So this is Delphine's true strength. No," Simon said. He began to see something wrong with the way Delphine was standing and moving around with her two-edged sword.

It did not seem as if she could do anything that could budge or do something like she did a few days ago.

"You... you will suffer. You... will burn," Delphine whispered. She realized that her hands were covered in so much blood after using the sword for so long.

"My god. She's straining. She's fighting beyond her limits," Simon said.

Then the demon spoke to Delphine, saying, "What's wrong? You look pale. I wondered why a demon hunter would try so hard to show off. But I see it now. You did that to make me panic so you could finish me quickly. You're trying to avoid a long, drawn-out fight.

"You missed just now. You weren't aiming for my arm. You wanted my head."
