Chereads / Delphine of Moria / Chapter 38 - The Demon’s Demise

Chapter 38 - The Demon’s Demise

It was pretty apparent that Delphine was relinquishing a bunch of her stability; she needed to fight the night creature. Her hands are covered with blood, and her greatsword is tinted with the blood of the powerful demon. She knew she could not catch a break as she fought to the death to keep Simon safe and defend the people of Gisbourne. Then, Delphine held onto her greatsword and strolled towards her enemy to put him out of his misery. Then, the demon uses his remaining hand to make his fingers flail and increase to be used as sharp weapons.

"You're nothing but a false hero. My eyes have been opened, let me help you to see, ebony knight," the demon said. Finally, he knew who Delphine truly is and what she does in the lands of the earth; he began to realize she came to do what she did with all of the other night creatures she came across.

Then, the demon was quite specific that he might be able to finish her off with just one hand. He then watches as Delphine was charging towards him with her greatsword and was not afraid to cut him up. Delphine lifts her weapon and tries to land a sharp blow on the creature, but the way his fingers moved proved to be a challenge. She backs up and is not afraid to try again to find the demon's weak point; the body was like a vast bulk of iron, and no standard weapon would be able to pierce it.

"You're too slow. Much too slow! Everything you do is too slow!" The creature shouted. Delphine held her greatsword and pointed it at one of the long fingers of her enemy, and she was ready to slice it off.

Before she could do anything, one of the tentacle fingers manages to hit her on her left cheek and leave a considerable cut. Delphine sees the blood trickle down from her cheek to her chest; she became more frustrated than ever, yet she kept her guard up. Simon watches as the ebony knight received a scar on her face, and he did not know if they will succeed or not.

"You ever fear the eternal darkness that awaits you? You will bring down the heaven's wrath if you continue this madness," the demon said.

"I fear nothing, hellish beast! Once I have your head, more of your kind will start pleading for mercy!" Delphine shouted.

"Well, it appears you don't seem to be enjoying this. So tell me, ebony knight, how do you choose to die?" He asked. He then charges towards her and uses his whole arm to pound her down since none of his other methods seem to work.

But just like the other times, Delphine easily evaded the fatal blow; she still held her sword and began slicing his body once more. She had a significant opportunity to find his greatest weakness since the dismemberment of his arm did not seem to kill him.

"Delphine!" Simon shouted. He refused to stand there and do nothing to help her out, and he pulls out an arrow and his bow.

Simon had one last chance to poison the creature fully; he always used his arrows for tougher enemies and stronger demons.

"Now die!" The demon shouted. Before he could make Delphine end up with a tentacle in her throat, Simon had his arrow pointing directly at the mighty creature's eye.

And so, Simon uses his bow, and he aims and the shoots the demon in the left eye; the arrow goes through his face to the back of his head.

"I have you now, beast of Hell!" Simon shouted.

"Do not interfere, young hunter. I'll deal with you next!" The creature shouted. Then, Delphine backs away as she notices blood falling from the demon's head; she did not know if Simon found the weakness or not.

Simon has other arrows, but they were not filled with the poison needed to make the powerful creature vulnerable.

"Simon, you've done enough!" Delphine shouted. But, Simon did not listen to a word she said to him, and he had his sword pulled out.

He then proceeds to slice off two of the demon's fingers and watch its blood and gore splatter everywhere.

"No, Simon! There's no point in continuing!" Delphine shouted. She stands up and walks towards him, and she stands in front of him to continue her battle against the mighty creature.

"Are you alright? Can you stand it?" Simon asked.

"Of course, I can stand. I will not suffer this beast to live any longer!" She shouted.

"I'm ashamed to say it, but no matter how hard we fight, we're no match for it, just like you said. A knight never flees his foe, right?" He asked.

"Is that your idea of fairness? You've already done what you can, and yet... the demon still draws breath."

"Delphine, it was never about honor for me. I just got to do what I must do. That's all!"

Delphine knew he was right and said nothing more about the topic, and she refused to resist the creature. They both held their swords against the demon; they both found different ways to butcher the beast until he could not take any more of it. Then, Delphine dashed towards the devil and held up her greatsword with all of her anger and fury. She began to parry and dodge every blow and attack that the beast was throwing at her. Then, she started launching many strong attacks against her opponent and made sure they were all accurate.

Simon went behind the beast as it was fighting against Delphine and had the brilliant idea of stabbing the demon with both his sword and dagger. His sword and dagger were made through nordic steel and a large chunk of metal, which allowed it to pierce through regular steel and demonic armor. He then used both of his weapons and began to spin around and slice through the demon's back. The creature started feeling so much pain and agony as his blood was leaving him, and the poison prevented him from healing himself. Unlike Delphine, Simon was dancing around with his weapons and going everywhere on the body of his enemy to see if there are any signs of a weaker spot.

"You have strong grandeur, but not strong enough!" The demon said. He turns around and notices Simon being behind his back and slicing him through all directions; he realized a whole lot of blood has gushed out of him.

Before he could deliver the fight to the young hunter, Delphine used her greatsword and continued to do what Simon did, and it was to keep slicing and dicing until she could find somewhere that seemed like a significant weakness. This time around, the demon began to puke out blood; it was too late for him to heal himself from all of the massive wounds and scars.

"Do you think charging at me was enough, weakling?" The creature asked. Then, Simon runs as fast as possible towards Delphine to be in front of her, and he kneels in front of his enemy.

"Now! Do it!" Simon shouted. A few seconds later, Delphine uses Simon's back as her footstool, and she leaps up into the air.

While she hunted the creatures of the night, Delphine was an athlete and a sword wielder; she trained herself not only to fight demons but also to leap through high places. She was in the air and made sure to land on the beast with her greatsword being held up in the air.

"What?" The demon asked. He never thought someone of such high caliber could be able to jump a hundred feet into the air.

Delphine fell towards the creature and released a loud battle cry of fury and rage; her skill with the sword was the only method of attack. The creature stood there and stared at both the ebony knight and the young hunter, and he could not believe how powerful they were compared to the others. Even amid defeat, he refused to back down and force himself to surrender to the humans.

"Not bad, eh? For a weakling," Simon said.

"Why you little..." the creature said. Before he could finish his sentence, Delphine uses her greatsword and slices off the demon's other arm.

The creature was left with no arms left, there was a giant arrow in his left eye, and lots of his blood-stained the burial room. He was already gone with just as much pain as he gave to Delphine; he was left with only his legs and his gore to bathe in. But, Delphine was not finished with the creature because she needed him to suffer a tad bit more. She drives her greatsword into the demon's chest and proceeded to push it until the blade exits out of the creature's back.
