It was not like any corpse Simon has ever seen; it felt real and alive as it opened its eyes and kept staring at the ceiling. Then, he jumps away from the corpse as he noticed how grisly and horrifying it was to look at.
Then Simon said to himself, "I guess that's why I didn't like this place. Seriously, what's this thing doing in the cathedral, anyway? A mummy's still creepy, even if it was an important person. How disgusting. What's taking them so long? They should be done by now."
He looked at the two doors that led to the main hall of the cathedral and wondered what Delphine is going through.
"I just hope Delphine is okay," Simon said. He started to wonder how much longer it is going to take until Delphine is finished dealing with the priests.
Before he could say anything else, he did not even notice the corpse he fell on began standing on its feet. The corpse started to take form and its arms were growing rapidly, and its veins continued to appear on its skin. Then, the grim body began to make demonic sounds as it was gasping for air and desperate for blood. Suddenly, the corpse opened its eyes and was breathing very heavily as it was checking its surroundings and making sure he was alive. This was the same powerful creature that fought against Delphine and beat her up to the point where she could not regain her strength for the rest of the night.
Simon was looking everywhere and felt pretty bored after waiting so long for Delphine to return back to him. Then, the creature had both of his eyes staring at Simon's back and realized he was the one who interrupted his sleep. Then, Delphine was running as fast as possible towards the baptismal room Simon was staying at, and she began to feel a large demonic presence.
Simon! Delphine thought. She was running with so much force and tension because she still needed to save her friend despite the condition she is in.
As Simon walked, he could hear a loud footstep and it did not sound like a noise a normal person would make when he walks on the ground. It was the only noise he has ever heard in the cathedral that definitely did not sound human. He then turns around to see who it was walking behind him and making all of these unholy noises. Simon stared at the creature and became extremely horrified at the way it looked, and he became speechless. Then, the powerful creature opened his mouth and made Simon look at his fangs and sharp teeth ready to devour pure flesh and bone.
Simon drops his mouth and started sweating from his forehead to his back, and he was more afraid of this demon than Delphine. That was very uncommon for a hunter such as Simon because he hated the demons and swore to hunt them all down. The difference was Simon knew that the demons lived to bring havoc across the world, but he stayed with Delphine because he wanted someone in his life who actually cared about him. Then, the demon began to make a loud growling noise that was so shriveling and intense that Simon might have turned around and found a way out of there. The creature's body was filled with so many veins and muscle that it must have taken so many people's lives and drink their blood to increase its strength.
Then, Simon pulls out his sword and points the tip of the blade at the demon's face to see if he can lay a scratch on it.
"Alright, you freak of nature. Time to die!" Simon shouted. But, he spoke too soon as he faced the demon with as much energy as he could have until Delphine comes back to him.
The powerful demon raises up his hand and uses it to land so many scratches and scars onto Simon's chest. The creature takes hold of the blade as it was about to pierce its throat; he held onto it only to realize it has been dipped with twice as much salt as any ordinary sword. Then, Simon pulls the sword back and watches as so much blood started to gush out of the creature's hand. He then stood there and tries to think of a weakness that might make the creature fall on its knees and beg for forgiveness.
"Fool! I will strip the flesh from your bones!" The creature shouted. Then, Delphine kicks the door open and notices the demon was about to charge towards Simon and slice him open.
Delphine runs towards the powerful creature with all of her fury and anger and proceeds to slice off the creature's hand. Instead, her greatsword pierces the demon's wrist veins and the upper half of its right arm. Simon notices that Delphine was back in shape and ready for some unfinished business to be taken care of between her and her opponent. He never saw Delphine so angry and filled with rage before, but he knew she despises all of those who lived to kill her. Delphine raises her greatsword to the creature's hand and it slices his hand, but he still had plenty of strength to bust a move on her.
She also knew that it was a very skilled demon so he will do more than just dodge and block all of the blows Delphine throws at him. Then, she sees that the creature was going to do exactly the same thing he did yesterday to her. Immediately, she jumps away from the strong attack that the powerful demon was going to inflict upon her and Simon since he was also involved in this fight.
"Delphine!" Simon shouted.
"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" Delphine asked.
"No, I'm good. Just knocked around a little," he said. Then, Delphine gets up from the ground and faced the demon with so much fury and rage in her eyes.
Her greatsword was pointing to all of the body parts of the powerful creature, and her mind was as sharp as her own sword.
"Simon, I'll take care of him. While I distract him, you head straight for the door. Got that?" Delphine asked.
"No, wait! You're still hurt! You can't..." Simon said. Before he could say anything else to her, the powerful creature grows his fingers and makes them pierce the wall with enough force to make it crumble.
Both Delphine and Simon jump out of the way before the bricks could land on them; they both fell on their backs and looked at the demon a few seconds later. Delphine knew these kinds of creatures, but this was completely new to Simon's eyes; Delphine knew she had a lot to explain to the young hunter. She understood that she could not leave him confused about everything that might happen to the two of them on their journey.
"What the hell is that thing!?" Simon shouted.
"LOOK OUT, SIMON!!" Delphine shouted. She quickly gets up from the floor and held onto her greatsword as she saw the demon getting ready to do something to him,
The creature jumped with so much force and strength that it could fly at twenty miles per hour and kill pretty much anything in sight.
"Get away! Stay back!" Simon shouted.
"GET OFF HIM!!" Delphine shouted. She charged at the powerful demon with all of the rages that she could conjure and had her greatsword pointing at his back.
She uses her sword and pierced the creature's back and the greatsword runs from his back to his chest. Lots of blood began to splatter all over the walls and Simon as he was still being held by the demon.
"Your fight is with me, demon!" Delphine shouted. The demon drops Simon onto the ground and while turning around, the sword runs from his back to the side of his stomach.
The powerful creature began gushing out more blood and gore than ever before; he was trying desperately to stop himself from bleeding out.
"You will suffer. Death is too kind for you!" The demon said. The creature was more prepared than ever to put the ebony knight out of her misery and do the same thing to Simon.
Delphine rolls over before the creature could pierce her face, and she slices him on his hand again. It was as if he could feel the pain, but he still pushed forward despite him losing a whole lot of blood. Delphine gets up from the ground and continues fighting back against the intelligent demon who was using everything inside of him.
"Simon, leave! Get out of here!" Delphine shouted.
"I'm not leaving you here! I can fight this thing!" Simon shouted.
"Sure you can. But, two of us fighting against this thing won't do us any good!" She said. Delphine continued to have her greatsword pointing at the powerful creature as he was getting ready to attack her and Simon again.
