Delphine continued her fight against the cathedral night creature as she stayed in the burial room, and Simon was not trying to interfere. But, it was pretty difficult to try and escape from the battle since the demon was flailing his fingers all over the room. Delphine raises her greatsword and goes for the demon's face, but he blocks the attack with his left arm.
"Delphine!" Simon shouted.
"Don't look back! Go!" Delphine shouted. Simon listened to her words and started running to the doors to see if he can run away from the duel.
Unfortunately, the doors would not open, and he tried pushing and pulling the doors open to wait for Delphine.
"Delphine, the doors! They're not opening!" Simon shouted.
"What!?" She asked. Before she could ask something else, the creature's fingers started to flail again and his fingers were piercing so much concrete.
"Just stay back, Simon. He won't get to you if you stay right there!" Delphine shouted. She then raises her greatsword and begins to slice her way against the quick blows the creature was cast upon her.
Then, Delphine manages to slice off two of the powerful creature's fingers off and attacks him again on the back. She and Simon watched as lots of blood began gushing out from their enemy's body, and Delphine gets ready to defend herself once more.
"You dare strike me with that sickening sword? YOU SHALL DIE!" The creature shouted. Then, Delphine turns around to see if Simon is doing okay and making sure he is not split open.
She then turns around to see the powerful demon growing back some strength as the only thing she could do is keep Simon safe.
"You are truly more powerful than most of the warriors and knights who stand against me!" The powerful creature said.
"I don't take orders, especially from you. I'm here to do what I should've done ever since I came to this town," Delphine said.
"Do you really think you have what it takes to defeat a creature such as I? I shall not fail to engulf you with hellfire!" He shouted.
"You don't get it, do you? Perhaps I must let you know who I truly am. I am a knight who walks in the darkness and fights all the night creatures to the death. I live to keep vile demons such as you away from the people of this world. You inflicted horror and despair amongst the people of Gisbourne, and now you're going to pay! You will burn in the depths of Hell for all eternity!"
Simon heard the speech Delphine gave to the significant demon, and he began shivering at the thought of being her enemy.
"Here I come, servant of darkness!" Delphine shouted.
"Indeed, it's time to die!" The creature shouted. Then, Delphine raises her greatsword and the demon raises his fingers to clash and duel against each other once again.
Delphine made sure she does not end up with a large bruise-like yesterday, and she desperately stands in front of her comrade. She dodged and parried every strong and quick blow the creature throws at her; she refused to accept defeat to some unholy demon who hides in the cathedral. Simon was standing there and felt all sorts of shock and surprise come into him, and he could not think of a way to help Delphine out.
"You're a hard mortal to pin down. You will experience death before the sun rises!" The demon said.
"If I fall this night, I'm taking you with me!" Delphine shouted. She then kicks the demon on his legs and jumps towards his face to finish him off.
"It's insufficient!" The creature said. He then uses his hand as defense and instead of going from his hand to his head, the sword stayed still on his right hand.
Damn. It won't reach. Delphine thought. The demon picks her up and throws her down as her greatsword falls from his hand; Delphine knew at an instant that it would be more than a challenge to put this devil out of its misery.
"Try as much as you want. It won't work," the demon said. Delphine was thinking of all sorts of ideas on what to do, and at the same time, she thought of Simon and a possibility that might happen if she does not kill the powerful creature.
"I don't really care where you came from. But picking this place to hide was a mistake," Delphine said.
"I have no regrets," he said. Then, he saw the ebony knight coming towards him; he needed to think of another way to handle his opponent.
Delphine swings her greatsword and lunges for the demon's chest, but he blocked the attack and slapped her away from him.
"Impossible. What kind of creature is this?" Simon asked.
"Simon... stay... right there," Delphine said. Then, the powerful creature looks at the young hunter and smells his scent and knew it smelled like pure flesh.
He then proceeded to walk slowly towards Simon as he stood there in fright and could not hold his sword properly. Delphine began to gain a little strength inside of her as even she was losing a lot of blood.
"Don't dare turn your back on me!" Delphine shouted. Then, she stabs the creature in the back again, and she pulls the sword back just as he was about to do something to Simon.
"You are such a weakling. Is that the best you can do, you limping demon hunter?" The demon asked.
"I know who you are now. You reek of magic and sorcery, you're using magic to protect yourself from bleeding out!" Delphine said.
"That is correct. I am no ordinary creature of Hell to be killed by the likes of you! I've had enough!" He shouted. He then turns around to land a fatal blow onto the ebony knight; Simon was still frightened about everything happening before his very eyes.
Delphine parries the attack, but it was such a strong attack that it appeared that her wounds were starting to reopen. She was still standing on her two feet and had no fear against the merciless savagery the night creature had within himself. Then, she could feel the extreme pain pumping inside her veins and could not find a way to make it stop.
No... not now! Delphine thought.
"Delphine!" Simon shouted.
"Indeed, this is getting fun. Posing as the mummy of a holy man and watching your priests running around like frightened chickens. They may call themselves 'holy'. But they are only human," the creature said.
"You were complicit in the demise of these people! For them, I will have your head!" Delphine shouted. As she fought against the demon, Simon tries to think of a solution that might be able to Delphine out.
He pulls out his bow and many arrows, and he dips them into one of the potions he carried with him; he carried a large bottle of poison that paralyzes any demon. Delphine could hear Simon walking towards her, and she began to smell something that was very strong and powerful.
"Hey, Simon! I said stay back!" Delphine shouted. She watched as he already dipped his arrows with the poisonous toxin that affects demons exactly like salt.
"Delphine! I'm a demon hunter like you are. I can do this!" Simon shouted.
"Stop! There's nothing you can do! You'll only get yourself killed!" Delphine said.
"You know how salt affects demons. Well, it depends on how tough a demon can be and how much poison it can conjure up," he said.
"What on earth are you getting at?"
"I have lots of knowledge on these types of demons and what their greatest weaknesses are. Come on, you have to trust me on this!"
"Simon... what is that smell? And how the hell are you breathing through that?"
"Salt kills demons, Delphine. But, with enough poison to be added, the demon's aura will be much weaker and he'll be vulnerable. And when that happens, use your sword and cut him down!"
The hint was very helpful and Delphine began to look at her sword and noticed how much power can be combined with it. She then looks at Simon and the demon as he was healing only the sides on his body that could be healed.
"Very well. But, make sure you stay behind me, and when the moment comes, strike back!" Delphine shouted. Then, she charges towards the demon with her greatsword, and she began going on all sides of his body and started hacking and slashing through all the parts of his body.
She was already filled with encouragement, yet full of rage as her greatsword did not cease in slashing through the powerful creature. So much blood and gore were starting to leave him, and Simon was getting ready to attack the demon and help out his companion.
"You will all pay with your lives for this!" The powerful creature shouted.
"SIMON! SHOOT HIM!!" Delphine shouted.
