Chapter 42 - Devil's Landscape

"It's the cops. I killed them," Rail snapped her fingers and appeared by Haze with a smile on her face. "Want me to go dump their bodies in the Caribbean?"

"You-you killed them?" Haze jolted over to the door and opened up the knob only to find a small french terrier sitting in front of his door. "Did you have to play a joke? Mack, you couldn't have told me it was a dog?"

"I can play jokes on you," Mack gave Rail a high five as Haze sighed and looked down at the puppy. It ran in and licked his leg before immediately rushing towards a plate of chicken that had been set on the stairs, "Just because you captured me, doesn't mean I can't have fun."

"I'm keeping it. It's name shall be Fur ball," Zack picked up the dog as it licked his face. "It's got fur and looks like a ball."

"Wait, you forgot to close the door," Rail sighed and snapped her fingers before she appeared in french doorway and shut it. "Damn, your domain won't work if your door is open."

"What's that sound?" Haze heard a bang in the kitchen as his new god fell onto the couch. "Ugh, Mack... Now isn't a time for jokes..."

"I'm right here," Mack crossed his arms as Zack pulled out his sword with the dog on his shoulder, "I-I don't know what that was. Someone brave go check."

"It's a delivery," A deep voice came out of the kitchen as a man with a horn tattoo on the side of his face came out with both his hands held above his black shirt and white pants. "I come in peace. You just saw my picture, right?"

"Should I attack him," Zack's sword started to glow red as he twirled the blade in his hand. "He's breaking an entering, so we shouldn't get in trouble."

"No-no! Rail, bring Lapis over here... Mack, get this man a cup of coffee..."

"I don't know how to make coffee," Mack sighed and pursed back the devil as he smiled and walked into the main room and over towards the dog.

The small french terrier started to snarl as the devil snapped his fingers. A computer appeared in his hand as he smiled and sat down on the couch.

"This-this looks like a nice place. You want a dog?"

The devil opened up his laptop and opened up [Devil's Landscape] as Haze stood safety twenty feet away from him with his arms crossed. "You know... I have this quest I can't beat without a god-smith... Since you found my chip, I figured I'd just invite myself in."

"What do you want? That's where I sit," Zack walked over to the devil and nonchalantly sat on the couch as Haze trembled. "If you want to watch Burn that Witch, you have to have the remote."

"You're not coming too?" The devil clicked on the mission tab in Devil's landscape and caused a prompt to appear with three missions. "You see. Without your help. I'm not going to be able to clear this mission."

"What is it?" Rail snapped her fingers and looked straight into the devil, Malvin's, eyes, as he ignored her and stared at his computer, "You can't tell me to my face? What? Just because I'm a small girl doesn't mean you can't talk to me."

"I got a replay of you from the [Lake House Guild]... Look at me for two more seconds girl, and I'll be killing all of you and taking my dog."

"Well, that sucks..." Rail snapped her fingers and appeared by Haze. "Since you know that, you know I can take Haze anywhere I want."

"Yup, and you wont," Malvin looked over at Haze's new god before he shivered, "Look, I'm not even killing the new girl. Since I don't know what she does, it be smart of me to kill her right?"

"What's the mission," Haze sighed and walked over with Lapis and Port standing in front of him, "You have one minute to convince me it's worth my time."

"It's not worth your time. It's worth everyone's time."

"In Australia, there is over 100 C ranked owners let's called them. One of them is getting close to the B rank, and I need you to help me kill him. If we don't, he's probably going to take over this entire continent and start to wipe everyone out."

"Why would he do that?" Rail snapped into the kitchen and then appeared back to toss him a bag of chips. "What's the point of killing everyone?"

"Can't have competition if everyone is dead," Malvin yawned again and looked over at his two suits sitting on the couch, "What did you do to those two anyway? They're just sitting their watching television."

"I helped," Mack walked over to Malvin and handed him a cup of coffee... "It's instant. Just like your message."

"Oh, a [ghost controller].... Rare find..." Malvin sighed and looked back at Haze as he loaded that map Nicety showed him. "Well, this map isn't my plan, but the guy we need to kill. I need you specifically to make a god that can find him. Since you have this little deadly girl, it should be easy."

"I-I don't know if you're telling the truth. What does this person own?" Haze sat down next to his new god, Michigan, who for some reason decided to close her eyes. "You want to tell me more than he's about to hit the B rank..."

"Sure, his software is [Myth Writer]... He's like you in that he can create unique existences."

"The only difference is that... His software is in the C+ rank, and he can create thousands of mythicals while you can create 3 gods a day."

"That-that doesn't make any sense?" Haze finally got the courage to sit down next to Malvin right next to Zack, "I thought all the software are comparable? How can he make thousands of anything?"

"Mythicals are obviously weaker than gods," Rail crossed her arms as she jumped on Haze's lap, "However, at the C rank, each of his mythicals are probably as strong as Zack when you created him."

"Exactly, we're all fucked if he gets to the B rank. Then, his strongest Mythicals will be the same as your Zack last battle," Malvin sighed and closed his laptop. "I'll give you two days to decide if you want to help me or not..."

"Just so you know. Even with different software we can be in the same guild. If you help me, I'll help you."

"He's not an idiot," Rail snapped her fingers and appeared in front of Malvin, "Give us more proof that this guy exists. That mission you showed us could be a fake. It's not hard to pay somoene to make similar software."

"I tell you what... Get to the D rank in two days and I'll join your guild..." Malvin waved at the growling dog before he tossed out a small ball. "Here, he likes that toy. It's a shame I couldn't get him to like me."

"We can't take it. I know you put some strange devices in this adorable thing," Rail snapped her fingers and grabbed the puppy before she handed it to Malvin, "We'll give you a call in two days."

"I-I want you to join my guild now," Haze got up and pulled up his sleeves as he walked over to Malvin, "If you are telling the truth, then that shouldn't be a problem right?"

"You could be dead in two days... Not worth putting my eggs in a dud." Malvin sighed as he picked up the dog, "We'll be back. Try not to die, okay? Thanks for the coffee... It wasn't bad,"

"Well, that.... that could've gone a lot worse...." Zack turned on the television and looked over at Michigan. "However, Is it me, or is something wrong with the new girl? Why hasn't she moved yet?"
