The sun had just fell behind the mountains and darkness crept into the village. However Bailey hadn't woken up. The doctors said she was fine, no internal injuries, she was just unconscious and would wake up anytime. David Snyman felt relieved but he was impatient to see her open her eyes even if it's just to blink. He knew he should go home since the hospital wouldn't allow him to sleep over as he was not an official family member, but he couldn't bare leave her alone. He didn't want her to wake up alone without anyone by her side. He wanted her to feel his love and support when she woke up.
8 o'clock hit, the nurses came and told him he had to leave the premises. He pleaded with them an extra hour, and finally left at 9. He walked 2hours back to his house from the hospital but he didn't feel it, all his mind was filled with were images of Bailey. Her smile, he natural sweet scent, the way she acted subconsciously without her realising, all the little quirks that made him fall in love with her.
He woke up early before the sun introduced itself to the world and made his way back to the hospital. When he got into the ward that hosted over ten beds of patience, his eyes immediately searched for Bailey's bed but noticed it was empty. Fear crept up to his chest into his heart. He half-ran to the nurses station and asked where his Sweetness was and after calming him down they told him to wait for her to come back from her EEG exam.
When Bailey was pushed out of the EEG exam room she locked eyes with someone she felt was too familiar to her but couldn't place where she knew her from. The lady was coming out of the room adjacent hers like she had went for some tests as well. Her name kept dancing around at the back of her mind but she couldn't grasp it, but she knew deep inside her that she knew her.
Bailey was now clean and the dirt and blood on her face was removed so the other lady could clearly see her face. Fear could be seen on the lady's face as she clearly recognized Bailey. Her breathe hitched but she quickly masked her fear with excitement and exclaimed "Bailey Harper! It is really you, what are you doing here?" she faked her smile as she quickly made her way to Bailey.
Bailey had noticed her fear and perceived that she was faking her excitement but didn't call her out on it. She was busy registering the pounding feeling she had on her chest when the lady called her Bailey Harper. She knew from the depth of her being that that must've been her name. Six months! She finally knows her name. SHe couldn't describe what she was feeling and couldn't react even when the lady hugged her.
"What's wrong, Bailey?" the lady asked concerned edged on her face "It's me Loretta May." Seeing the puzzled look on Bailey, Loretta started having doubts but the nurse that was pushing Bailey said excitedly "Miss, you know her? She's been in our village for while now and has amnesia so no one even herself knows who she is"
Loretta May wanted to kick herself in her lady parts for acting presumptuously, had she know Bailey had amnesia she would've pretended she doesn't know her. She breathed in and said "Ofcause I know her, this is my best friend Bailey Harper, we grew up together"
The nurse was overjoyed that the finally found someone who knew Bailey and quickly told another nurse, and before anyone could stop it the news was filled in the hospital. Loretta had an operation, she told Bailey, so she had to leave for her appointment but she will come back to see her after.
By the time they got to the ward, David was already waiting for them. He had already had the exciting rumours. He was also truly happy that there was someone who could finally shed light to the mystery that is, his Sweetness.
