At the city, a clicking of a police baton stick against bars disturbed the peace in the holding prison cells, all the girls in the cell looked at the guard with disdain for disturbing the morning peace. It was too cold to be woken up with such noise. Being in prison really takes away your freedom indeed, even freedom to have a peaceful morning. It was just a holding prison cell, but most ladies in there where in longer than they should have because of overcrowding in the prisons, or no one coming to bail them out, or one or the other reason.
"You Ms Anonymous at the corner, come out!" the prison guard shouted as she opened the holding cell's doors. Bailey Harper stood and came out looking lethargic.
Three days earlier, Bailey thought she could jump out of the truck as soon as they got into the city before the driver got to his destination, however she didn't account for the fact that the roads in the city where serviced and therefore didn't offer her or the driver any time to drive slow enough for her to have a chance to jump off. The truck didn't slow or stop until it stopped in a parking lot of a prestige apartment building.
Bailey thought she would, in that case wait, for the driver to leave the truck before she sneaks out, but luck was not on her side. The driver saw her and thought she was a thief who wanted to hijack his car. "Who are you?" the man shouted, before Bailey could respond the man shouted "Guards, guards, come there's a thief here"
Bailey thought to herself; what kind of thief looks like she did, is this a new thing she didn't know about? The way she looked, really didn't help her case, she was dirty and looked like someone who ran away from an asylum. She was still in her hospital gown. "No, no, no I am not trying..." she was cut off by the guards who quickly came to apprehend her "You got guts huh, trying to steal in our compound!" She tried jumping out of the car but she unintentionally fell on top of the guard when trying to come out of the truck and the guards mistook it for her trying to attack thus the second guard took out his taser gun and zapped her till she lost consciousness.
An hour later she woke up in a holding cell of the apartment complex. Hands and feet bound. The suspicion on her grew when asked her name or her intentions. Bailey had not wanted to get her name on any records, especially prison records in case they called the police and thus said she had amnesia and couldn't remember anything. The guards thought she was dressed like a crazy person to disguise herself in case she got caught and thus didn't believe her.
Her caution was warranted when the driver insisted they call the police, 30 minutes later she was arrested.
Nevertheless, even after 2 days she still hadn't changed her story, but because there was no sufficient proof that she was a thief. And her story that she got in the car at the village corroborated with what the man said when he was asked from had he come from.
So after 48hours of detention, the police had nothing to hold her for and had to release her.
"You free to go now" the guard told her as they got to the police station's entrance, "If you ever come back here again, I will personally lock you away..." the police kept threatening her.
However Bailey heard nothing after the words "...free to go..." Sure she was free to go, but where to from here?
