Bailey Harper walked aimelessy for two hours until she saw a building with the sign "Community Centre."
She walked in and found religious people giving away soup and bread with tea for homeless people. She joined the queue while listening intently to the homeless people's conversation, listening in to clues on tips for how to live as a homeless person.
When she got to the front of the queue the person serving soup frowned and said "I haven't seen you around before."
"Uh uhm, yeah" Bailey answered uncertainly, not knowing if her being new is a red flag or not, "I just came from the village, uh and I don't have nowhere to go"
The way she talked and her accent caught everyone's attention, because she didn't speak like a homeless person. When everyone looked at her, Bailey's heart skipped a beat. "Oh," the nan said "There's a homeless shelter two blocks down, you can go there to sleep."
Bailey kept noticing two other homeless couple kept stealing glances at her and saying something to each other, but she ignored them and kept to herself as she ate. After she ate, she took a paper cup and went down the street where there were alot of shops and sat down, put the cup infront of her and started singing for donations.
Because of her beautiful voice, she got a lot of donations, 20 dollars in total.
She learnt that she needed to learn the street rules and get tough when two other homeless people came and beat her up, the same ones from the community centre. The girl insulted "Ugly bum b*tch this my spot!" they took the paper cup with the money and the guy said "This our money cause this our spot!"
They kicked her a few more times and told her to go look for another spot that isn't next to theirs.
Hope didn't leave Bailey, she had come too far to give up now. She limped away from the shops.
Having spent six months in the village had made her really tough, also the homeless had no real power compaired to what had once been subjected to. And also she kept her body fit before although she doesn't remember she could tell that she was a healthy person before the drugs and kidnapping. Ergo, of the bruises where artificial and would heal on their own.
She found an isolated passage and stopped there to check her wounds, having noticed it was nothing serious, she stood up and walked back to the shops. She kept looking at the homeless people's behaviour and after the whole day she had spotted the street boss.
The street boss was a boy that looked not a day over 18, she watched him as he left with his goons and wondered what made him the boss. She figured she will need to learn him first before her move.
So she walked to where the nun said she would find a shelter for the night but by the time she got there the person in charge said "Yoh, bum, no more space for the night, if you want space you'll have to come early, now shoo!"
She walked around and in bins she found boxes, she used them to cover herself as she slept for the night. Although it snowed at night, she didn't have the mind to think about the cold. She curled herself into a feutus position and made plans for how she will live from then on. She needed to get to the street bosses side so that she makes it easier for herself to make plans for her future.
