Chapter 10 - Waking Up

Gordan sighed in relief and sat up, he felt a lot better than he had before falling unconscious, but that was mostly becouse he was so happy that his dream hadn't been reality, he didnt know if he could relive all of that stuff for a second time. Looking over he saw that the person with the knife had fallen to the ground and was shaking like a leaf, maybe because he had just suggested killing Gordan before he could wake up, but what ever the reason was at the moment Gordan didn't really care all that much.

He turned his attention away from the man and began to inspect his condition, he was completely covered in bandages all the way up to his throat, which made it alittle hard to move around, but at least he was still in one piece.

He felt his forehead which was also tightly bandaged, over all he could tell who ever had treated him knew what they were doing.

"Well now, seems you made good on your end of the bargain."

His words were directed toward Leech who was standing next to the table that Gordan had been laying on. Leech smiled broadly at the remark, seemingly satisfied with himself.

"But of course, what kind of man would I be if I didn't keep my promises."

Gordan started coughing at that statement in order to mast the laughter that was threatening to burst out of him, he began shaking with the effort. Leech looked rather concerned and the smile disappeared.

"Are you okay? Mom was the one who treated you so you should be fine right?"

Gordan, cleared his throat and breathed deeply, he felt much better but he suddenly felt really tired.

"Don't worry about it, I've been through worse."

He said it to reassure Leech but the sad thing was he had been through worse.

Gordan pulled his legs over the side of the table and slowly stood up making sure to have a hold on the table for support. Once he was on his feet he started to stretch the stiffness out of his limbs.

"So anyway how long was I out?"

He asked in a rather disinterested tone, but he did like to know what happened when he was unconscious, sleeping or otherwise. He was still tired but for now he would be fine, he looked at Leech who was staring at him oddly.

"Um is everything alright?"

Gordan stopped stretching and waved his hand in front of the boys face to snap him out of his daze, he blinked twice and his eyes came back into focus.

"Uh, how are you able to move, we just brought him in here four hours ago, they are still cooking the meat for the celebration."

=sigh=

Gordan was rather torn about that, while he didn't like being asleep he was also quite aware that he needed to have more sleep in order to help speed up his recovery. Having injures was inconvenient for him, but he would just have to deal with it, thankfully his headache was gone so he could actually think without to much difficulty, well other than being a little groggy. He should have slept longer to help with his blood but he needed to keep himself active, especially with the sight he had woken to.

Thinking of that Gordan turned around to see that the person who had tried to kill him just minutes ago was slowly trying to crawl away. Gordan grabbed the collar of the persons shirt and lifted him off the ground.

"So who is this slightly rude person who tried to kill me?"

His voice was even and didn't betray any emotion, it was like he was using the tone that a person would in a casual conversation about the weather. Leech swallowed and tried to avoid Gordans searching look, while it didn't seem to Leech like Gordan was angry he had the feeling that he wasn't to happy about almost getting stabbed in his sleep.

"Well um... you see, that's my dad... he didn't mean anything by it, honestly he didn't, it's just that well you know he was worried about mom, right dad?"

Leech looked at the man who was being held helplessly in the air, Gordan turned his attention from Leech and looked at the man in his hand, the man nodded vigorously in agreement with the statement.

Gordan gently set the man back on the ground and sighed, running his hand through his hair which he noticed had been cleaned of blood. He looked between the two of them not really knowing why Leech's mother had anything to do with him, but for some reason this person felt threatened by him.

"Why would I do something to your mother?"

Leech thought that Gordan looked alittle hurt by the accusation, and then he remembered that he hadn't said anything about his mother being the healer.

"Well its becouse of moms skill as a healer, he was afraid that you might fly off the handle since some people in this region dont take kindly to the idea of healers. And mom almost got killed by one of those people in the past."

Gordan nodded in understanding, but still he did not like the idea that his last memory could have been that dream, and above all that was the thing that bothered him the most.

"While that does make sense, did you neglect to mention that the reason that I came with you to this village in the first place was because I needed medical attention?"

Leech looked at the ground in shame, he had been rather shaken up after the whole thing had come to a conclusion. He had been so focused on trying to save the other boys from his village that he hadn't even noticed what Gordan had done, and when he did he was even more stunned by the sight that greeted him, as was the entire village who stormed out of the gates for a last ditch stand and seen the bodysuit laying all around the feild in front of the gate.

"I was alittle bit... confused after the whole thing and, well you know... I kind of forgot."

=sigh=

Gordan rubbed his eyes to help clear them, he had forgoten about the child's shock at seeing people he knew almost die. He had known such things to happen, though if he was going to be honest he had never really felt that way before so he could only understand from an observational stand point.

He nodded his head in understanding and turned back to the man who was Leech's father. Gordan extended his hand which the man gladly took.

"The name is Gordan, I mean you and your family no harm... That said, I would not be very appreciative if you tried something like that again, of course you understand my meaning."

His voice was calm and as he said the last part he let a small amount of bloodlust into his words, but only enough that the man was slightly uncomfortable. It was an ability that he had learned along time ago that allowed him to pick out a specific individual so that the bloodlust wouldn't effect everyone in the vicinity, it was quite useful when one wanted to keep on the down low while still getting ones point across.

"You can call me Fred, everybody does, sorry for that little misunderstanding earlier, but you know how it is sometimes..."

Gordan did infact know, since he had been in the same kind of situation in the past. He nodded his head to communicate that he understood. He did find it odd that the man had the same name as the oddly absent boar but he desided not to question it, after all peoples cultures were their cultures and he wasn't one to judge for the most part.

After clearing that up the man quickly excused himself from The building.

=sigh=

Gordan sat down on the table and took a deep breath befor exhaling, after dealing with that he already felt drained of all energy. At least it was better than that time in Dolan but then he had people that he knew their intentions so in that way it hadn't been all that bad. He started to feel tired again but nothing to bad, he slowly stood back up again and turned back to Leech.

"Well shall we see how the preparations are going? After all they were your leeches that brought down the boar-bear right?"

Leech looked quite shocked at the statement, he hadn't thought about that since the others had taken the creature into the village and began cooking it for a festival, since they did survive the attack. He had not thought about it that way, since the one to actually kill the creature was Gordan. Then he realized that they had started cooking the bear without getting permission from the one who killed it. He went completely pale at the thought, now Gordan had a reason that he could justly kill all of them, since in the village stealing another person's game was a serious offense.

Gordan however really didn't care as long as he got something to eat, since he was starving, he also would ask if he could get one of the animals teeth as a memento of a kindred spirit.

"Don't worry about it, they were your leeches so it's at least partially your kill, right?"

When he put it that way leech felt alittle better about the situation. He smiled at Gordan who looked as expressionless as always, and the two of them exited the small room that served as the medical center, as they were leaving something came into Gordans head and he turned to Leech.

"I totally forgot, what about the two idiots that charged the boar-bear and almost ruined all of are work?"

Leech was about to answer the question when a voice rang out from the clearing up ahead.

"Yes that is correct, I Noah have slain this beast and claim it as my pray! If anyone wants to challenge my claim go right ahead.

Gordan felt his stomach turn at hearing that tone of voice, it was the same way that someone he had known long ago had used, save for the fact that it belonged to a child. as they came closer to the clearing, standing in front of one of the cooking fires pointing out the meat from the boar-bear was a child around Leech's age smugly smiling as no one tried to challenge him, after all no one had actually seen what happened.

"Well that's one of them at least."

Leech's voice was dry and rather annoyed, he sounded as tired as Gordan felt, personally Gordan didn't have the patience to deal with this right now.
