Chapter 11 - Who Are You?

The two of them approached the scene as the child continued to spew his challenge, half mocking the ones around him for their inability to challenge him. Gordan couldn't stand that type of person since he had dealt with them quite a bit in his early years, always taking credit for things that they didn't do, making peoples lives miserable.

Reaching the cooking fires Gordan cleared his throat, he didn't really like standing out, especially when he wasn't recovered from any of his injuries. But he hated people like that more. Leech looked defeated without anything having been done, he had already given up on the catch now that Noah had taken claim of the prey.

Being the clan leaders son no one thought they could oppose him for fear of the leaders wraith. But that was not all he was also fairly strong, much stronger than any of the other boys his age, and he was well aware of that fact. Gordan however was obviously to all of these things, and he wouldn't have cared if he had known.

"Just out of curiosity, how were you able to take down the beast?"

The whole crowd turned toward Gordan who had slightly raised his voice, just enough to be heard above the talking. Even with the child glaring at him Gordan just stood still keeping eye contact with him. The child Shook his head and scoffed, which made Leech clench his fists in anger and fear. Becouse he was scared, even though Gordan was injured he wouldn't be a push over if it came to a fight, if the scene earlier had taught him anything Gordan was strong, ridiculously strong.

Leech's father was not a small man by any means, infact he was considered to be one of the most intimidating person in the village, and Gordan had lifted him up without any noticeable effort with one hand. If he had been fully healed that would have been shocking, but his mother had told him that Gordan was close to death from blood loss not to mention the whole plethora of injuries that he had, she had said that it was a miracle that he was even alive.

And now one of the people that had been saved by Gordan was acting like he was an idiot, Leech could have strangled him but he just stood there unmoving, something in him really wanted to see how things would play out.

"Oh to be simple minded, might I ask who you are?"

Noah's words were dripping with sarcasm, he was attempting to aggravate Gordan, but he didn't even flinch after having his intellect insulted.

"Dose that really matter, or are you unable to answer how the beast was killed?"

His tone was even but it had just the slightest bit of sarcasm laced into it so well that you couldn't quite place what it was. The boys face reddened slightly, he hadn't expected someone to respond like that since no one ever spoke to him disrespectfully.

"Do you have any idea who I am?"

Gordan shrugged and let out an exasperated sigh.

"Dose it really matter what your name is? I dont need to know your name for you to be able to answer the question, how did you kill the boar-bear?"

Noah was shocked, if he stepped down now it would avoid any further problems but this rude man looked heavily injured. Noah released that this was the person that he had seen when he woke up, who had been slumped next the the dead boar-bear's corpse.

Knowing that explained why he had not cared about his name, and had been so persistent about the way that he had killed the bear.

"I don't see how that is any of your concern, after all what does it have to do with you? Oh did that leech next to you put you up to this? That would make more sense."

He turned toward Leech and snarled, and then he smiled alittle.

"Should you even be around that dead weight, he should have died in that leech pit today but somehow he managed to escape, what a pity."

He brandished a small knife and when Leech saw it he gasped slightly, but it was enough that Gordan heard.

The pieces were starting to come together, his suspicions of the rockslide and the boys unwillingness to tell him all that had happened. Which ment that this small child that was bringing back a bitter taste in his mouth had also been the reason that he had to deal with those demonic blood suckers. He now had a very valid reason to teach this child a lesson.

"If I recall it was you that asked someone to challenge you for the right, so shouldn't you be overjoyed?

Anyway if you can't tell me how you killed the beast than shall I enlighten you?"

His voice had started to grow cold as everyone watched in silence. He was putting on quite the dramatic show indeed, the crackling fires and the dawning of night created a rather eerie scene that made even the bravest president uncomfortable. Leech had it the worst since he was right next to Gordan who seemed to be radiating darkness.

"First you take something sharp and soak it in a mixture of leech guts and blood, then you stab it in the throat. At this point you can either run and wait for the poison to take effect, or immobilize the beast so that it does less damage. The method used in this case was the later, meaning that the best thing to do would be to snap the beasts neck, does that sound about right."

The whole clearing was quiet, Leech realized that he had stopped breathing and quickly took down gulps of air. Several people had collapsed and were frothing at the mouth but, Noah did not seem to be effected and did not notice the commotion around him, he was now angry mostly at the possibility of losing his bone existant claim on the prize.

Gordan had done this intentionally in order to let those around know to not mess with the situation, now that he had an idea what had happened he was going to drag this out for alittle bit longer.

Suddenly without warning Noah charged at him holding the knife out to stab Gordan. No one moved to stop him and Gordan merely stood still waiting for the boy to approach.

Noah wasn't thinking rationally, the only thing he knew was that the person in front of him was injured and shouldn't be to much of a problem to silence. His dad could cover it up since he wasn't part of the village, he could even say that the man had attacked him first, no one of those that were present would not say anything about it.

In his blind rage he felt his knife make contact and pierce thought something and he grinned in satisfaction as he attempted to twist the blade, but it would not budge. The next thing he knew he was flat on his back empty handed.

He quickly got to his feet and looked around to see Gordan pulling the knife out of his bandaged left hand.

"Nice knife, but it really doesn't suit you."

Gordan casually wiped the blood off of the blade and tossed it to Leech. Noah saw that he wasn't treating him like a real fight, it was more like he was dealing with a child which made him even madder. He clenched his fists in anger, this wasn't supposed to go like this, he was an adult now and no one would push him around or treat him like a child under any circumstances.

"Fight me seriously!"

=sigh=

Things were going pretty much how Gordan expected them to.

"Sorry but it's not my policy to fight children, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth."

Noah's face started changing color in rage.

"I'm a man, fight me like one, you coward!"

Gordan started to smile.

"Well if you insist."
