Chapter 13 - Nice to Meet You

Leech's mother shook his hand without thinking, she had been worried that the patients who in her eyes had been about to die was now standing in front of her only five hours after he had been brought in.

"I'm Victoria, nice to meet you, now let me see your hand."

=sigh=

Gordan stretched out his left hand to her and she emidiatly began treating it. Gordan couldn't help but wonder if all doctors were like this, though he had encountered some doctors before but those were usually in rather extreme situations so he had never really noticed anything about them personally just their work. Once she had finished she looked up at Gordan in astonishment.

"How are you able to stand right now, with the shape that you were in when you were brought here it should have taken at least a week for you to regain conciousness."

Gordan didn't know how to answer that, he couldn't exactly say that he had been woken up by a dream. So he decided to tell the aftermath of the dream.

"I felt like I was in danger and when I opened my eyes someone was holding a knife over my head, other than that I have no idea why I would have woken up."

The doctor nodded her head, it was a possibility, but she rather felt that there was more to the story.

"Now if I'm not mistaken we're going to miss the main event if we don't go, are you up to joining us miss. Doctor?"

Leech's mom closed her eyes to clear her head, it really didn't matter all that much how he had woken up. Who ever this Gordan was he had treated her son well so she would let it go for now.

"Fine I'll go with you, but get one thing straight mister. My name is Victoria, not doctor."

Gordan nodded his head in both an apology as well as understanding.

"Sorry, force of habit."

That was the way that most doctors had him refer to them, but that had mostly been because the former king didn't like him getting close to other people. Gordan had always thought that the former king was alittle bit abusive with his rules, but at this point it was over so he really shouldn't think of things in the past.

Leech's mom looked up and suddenly remembered something that she should probably mention to this Gordan fellow.

"By the way I left the face paint on since I didn't know if you wanted it kept on, some people are very particular about that kind of thing."

Gordan was surprised that he had forgoten about the paint, even though it was supposed to be a mockery of him. He rubbed the side of his face and a small amount of paint flaked off onto his fingers.

"I dont have a particular attachment to it so it wouldn't have mattered. Anyway do you have a place were I could clean it off, you two can head down to the fires I can catch up when I finish cleaning up."

Leech's mom showed him to a small adjacent room which had a small basin for cleaning and a mirror hanging in front of it. Gordan was alittle shocked by the condition of the makeup which was almost perfectly intact, he was also shocked by the makeup itself since this was the first time that he had seen it.

He was disappointed in their poor choice of designs but he guessed that was mostly becouse they had done it rather spur of the moment. Gordan picked up a small rag hanging on the side of the basin and began to scrub the makeup off his face with extreme accuracy as though he had done it many times in the past, which indeed he had. Thinking back to that time he had painted his face quite a lot for undercover operations.

That was a can of worms that he wanted to burn, the former king really was a crazy dude with some of the things that he put Gordan through. Once he had finished he laid down the cloth which he had wrung out to prevent staining. He looked in the mirror and his real face was staring back at him, he felt alittle relaxed at that, he wasn't under some kind of mission or even under the king anymore, now he was just Gordan.

Yup, plain old Gordan, a person no one would remember once the waves had calmed down. Gordan smiled at himself in the mirror, which cracked in the very corner.

Gordan stopped smiling and just stared at the crack in the mirror. He didn't think his smile was that weird but apparently inanimate objects did, maybe it was becouse he took off the paint? Gordan didn't know but he figured that he had better avoid smiling still.

Gordan walked out of the clinic and started on his way to the fires when he remembered something rather important, no one had mentioned the body of the mage, it was only a hunch but that could spell trouble.

Gordan turned away from the fires and began sniffing the air around him. After a couple of seconds he caught onto what he was looking for and started to fallow the scent until he reached the wall of the village which was unguarded.

Gordan frowned as he saw some plants starting to rap around the beams of wood which were main supports for the wall. It had already started so he would have to act quickly.

Thankfully it hadn't spread all that much so it was still manageable. Gordan quickly scaled the wall and jumped to the ground which was slowly covering with vines, in the thicket he noticed the remains of two guards.

"So you've already had blood, That makes things more difficult. Dont they know to burn mage bodys?"

=sigh=

Gordan didn't like mages for the most part, he had a bad history with them given his own rather unorthodox way of using magic, he always seemed to have trouble with them.

As he got closer to the place were the body was the vines began to become more violent, swaying about trying to grab a hold of him in order to devour him whole. He had encountered this before when he was young and inexperienced. Much like how a mage puts a spell on their mounts, they could do the same thing to themselves, which would work with the mount to cause even further devastation. Unless the body was burnt the spell would activate anywhere between a couple seconds after death to about a week, but it mostly depended on the mages intent and what kind of spell it would be.

Natures Rage was the name of the spell. It took the natural geography into account and used the deadliest natural resource in the area turning it into a weapon which would then seek out and destroy everything it could.

Thankfully he had intimate knowledge on how to take it out. Stepping forward Gordan lifted his hand and grabbed one of the roots. This would be a nice way to see just how much he had recovered.
