Chapter 12 - Careful

Noah fell to the ground at the full weight of Gordans smile which to him was like a monster readying itself to strike. The pressure of it was making it hard for him to breath.

And then the pressure was gone like it had never existed in the first place, Noah checked himself, he was fine nothing was wrong with him in the slightest. But then why had he fallen to the ground? He couldn't remember.

All that he knew was that he was on the ground staring up at the injured stranger. He quickly scrambled to his feet and heard the man muttering to himself.

"Well that was close any longer and this wouldn't be fun..."

What did he mean by that? Looking around he saw that those in the circle were all deadly silent, their faces looked like they had been through a war. Nothing was making all that much scence, he had to focus on what he knew he had to teach this idiot his place.

Gordan was annoyed that he had almost ruined the situation, but for some reason it was getting harder to contain his emotions. He chalked it up to how tired he was but still it was rather inconvenient. Actually now that he thought about it this started to happen after that stupid mage had cast anti-magic on the area.

Gordan had stopped his advance to ponder that thought and Noah took it as a sign that he was intimidated, so once again he charged at Gordan and when for a gut punch.

His fist made contact with something similar to a brick wall, he pulled back his hand and cried out in pain. He had hit Gordan full force and his right hand went limp. Gordan's eyes came back into focus and looked down at the screaming child, Noah looked into his eyes and saw nothing at all. Of all of the things that Noah had seen in his life the nothingness of the strangers eyes made him feel as insignificant as a speck of dirt

"What are you?"

He said it without thinking and the stranger tilted his head to one side.

"Well that was rude, we are in a fight not a debate on species."

Gordan brought back his fist and brought it down toward Noah's face.

"You really shouldn't pick fights with people, in my experience it always leads to more trouble than it's worth."

As his fist made contact with Noah's face he was sent flying back toward the fires, but before reaching them Gordan grabbed his leg and slammed him to the ground. Noah let out gasping sounds as he tried to pull the air back into his lungs.

Gordan leaned over him to check his condition.

"Come on is that all you have in you? I thought you were an adult now."

=sigh=

Gordan grabbed the boys skull in his left hand which was still bleeding from being stabbed earlier, he lifted the child up and held him over the fire just enough that the flames were hitting the very ends of his toes.

"I will give you alittle bit of free advice, okay?"

Noah just stayed perfectly still focusing of the persons words in order to stay conscious.

"There will always be people stronger than you who have the ability to beat you to a pulp, so when you are in the position of being more superior you should think of the person as yourself, and maybe just maybe when it comes time for someone to come after you they just might show you the same compassion. Because as it is said, what goes around comes around."

Gordan threw the the child over his shoulder and began walking to the clinic. Along the way Leech fallowed him happily holding his precious knife.

When they reached the clinic Leech became extremely excited and rushed forward to greet his beloved mother, who was looking at the empty room in confusion.

She had come back to the clinic after hearing that her husband had tried to kill the patient, and now she found that the room was completely empty. She was just about to go searching for the body of the patient when the door to the clinic opened up. Leech came in and gave her a hug showing her the knife that she had given him that morning.

"Mom I got back the knife that you gave me, they stole it from me but I got it back."

Leech looked so proud, and his mother smiled warmly at him. She had noticed that the brat son of the village chief had stolen the knife that she had carved herself, but who could go against the clan's chief? Her answer came soon after as she finally noticed that another person had come into the clinic carrying the same child that she had just been thinking of.

The child's face looked broken as did his right hand, not to mention the burns that were on his feet. Her sense as a doctor took over and she quickly took action.

"Quick, put him on the table we have to deal with this now, he's in really bad shape."

Gordan quickly did as instructed and placed the boy on the table, he was about to exit when the doctor called out to him.

"Help me hold down his arms, if he moves to much he might end up making his injuries worse."

She had Gordan hold down the child's arms as she began treating his injuries. Gordan found the process fascinating, the doctor carefully treated each of the child's injuries, bandaged them, and then cast a small amount of healing on him to speed up healing, the whole thing took about half an hour and when it was done the child was sound asleep. Usually the process would take longer but the child hadn't even flinched so she had been able to do it relatively quickly.

Leech had been sitting on a stool the whole time quietly watching the whole operation, Gordan had held the child perfectly still for the whole time while he slowly lost more blood from his injury which he had seemingly forgotten about. Once they finished he jumped off of the stool and brought over some cloth.

" You really need to treat that injury, I'm not a doctor but the amount of blood you've lost already is really bad."

=sigh=

Gordan took the cloth and began to rap the cloth around his hand. Leech's mom realized what he was doing and grabbed the cloth from him.

"What do you think you're doing? You have to disinfect the wound first or else you will have a higher risk for infection."

Gordan just stared at her, and then remembered that most doctors were very picky about that kind of thing. He unraveled the cloth on his hand and held out his good hand to her.

"I apologize, it was rude of me, I shouldn't have touched your tools without permission. It's a pleasure to meet you, my name is Gordan."

She then realized that she didn't know him, she also noticed that he was covered in bandages and realised that this was her missing patient.
