Ayana-
I quickly shut the door, sighing in relief. I had finally escaped Sarah and Lily. Ever since I had woke up they had been smothering me with their pitiful words and questions about my new look.
They complimented me on how good I looked in white and how my eyes sparkled like the stars. I gagged at their caring words more than once.
Don't get me wrong I like them and care for then but sometimes they were just too much.
My room was dark still. The sun had been bothering me all day. I walked over to my bed plopping down and sighing. It was getting dark and I was already getting sleepy even though I had slept for three days.
Just as my eyes started to close my door flew open. I turned my head calmly looking at the towering shadow looking over me. Tristain looked down at me with a troubling gaze.
I smiled, "Hey." My voice was low from my sleepiness.
He huffed bending down and picking me up. I squealed surprised as he led me across to his room.
He dropped me on the bed making me bounce. "Hey what are you doing?"
He held up a finger signaling for me to be quiet. I watched as he checked the hallway for anyone and finally closed the door shut.
I raised my eyebrows expecting him to explain what the hell he was doing. What I didn't expect was for him to start taking off his shirt.
I quickly turn my head feeling my cheeks heat up. When I look back his tattooed back was facing me. I gasped seeing his back covered in black ink.
There were swirls and different designs all connected with Latin words in the middle. I wasn't fluent so I didn't know what it said.
I breathed out heavily staring at his back. It was like I was in a trance and couldn't look away.
So what I had a thing for backs. Don't judge me.
He finally turned around facing me. When I say my breath left my body I mean it. Ignoring his muscles my eyes went to the clean bandage on his side.
He came towards me pointing at it. "You did this?"
I furrowed my eyebrows, "What?"
He ripped it off exposing clean smooth skin. My eyes widened, there wasn't a scar in site, not even a mark.
"It healed?" I brought my hand up touching the skin lightly. I blushed at how goosebumps appeared right after I touched him.
He sat down next me, "You healed it right after you touched me earlier. I know you did."
I shook my head looking at him in disbelief, "There's no way I could have healed you Tristan." I looked at the area where the wound used to be, "Maybe you just healed faster than normal."
It was possible, some warriors healed faster than others. I know I did. But Tristain wasn't buying it.
"When you touched me earlier your eyes glowed and I felt something. I just don't know what it is yet."
I layed my hand over his and watched as he brought them together. He really seemed into this. I was trying to think of something to say when he stood taking me with him.
I looked into his eyes seeing them light up with an idea. "I'm going to take you somewhere and I need you to trust me okay."
I nod without thinking and watches as he leads down the hall we take a turn I hadn't been down before and stop at a cement door.
He looks at me for a second before opening it he leads us inside and chlorine instantly hits my nose.
We were met with a large pool that reached about 10ft deep. The room was dark so the water sparkled blue against the walls.
I went to the edge looking down at the clear water. Turning to Tristain I ask him, "What are we doing here?"
He comes close taking my hand again, the touch sent chills up my arm.
"I need you to trust me for a second okay. I'm going to prove you wrong."
He bends down sitting on the edge away from the water. He motions for me to join him and I look at him warily before following him.
The floor was cold but didnt bother me even though I was in shorts and a tangtop.
He pointed, "Now put your hand in the pool."
I leaned over dipping my hand in the water and waving it a little then pull it out again. He looked disappointed that nothing happened and all I got was a wet hand.
He shook his head, "Again, but not like that. When you put it in close your eyes and imagine freezing the water."
My eyes widen, "I can't do that Tristan."
"Just do it and trust me," he says with pleading eyes I couldn't resist.
Sighing I put my hand back in and close my eyes. Nothing happened for a few seconds so I closed my eyes tighter focusing on the feel of the water.
Immediately the water started getting colder. I kept them closed as the temperature increased. I pushed for the feeling with my mind and felt my hand go numb like before with Tristain.
When I heard the crackling of ice I opened my eyes looking at the frozen pool before me. I gasped at the realization that my hand was stuck in the water.
"Yes! I knew I was right," Tristain cheered as I struggled with my hand. I pulled and tugged but nothing worked.
I was starting to panic and looked to Tristain for help. He was still smiling and stopped when he saw my expression.
He looked down at my hand and nodded, "You have to melt it, turn it back to normal."
"How am I supposed to do that, "I barely held back from screaming at him.
He put his hands up in defense, "Hey calm down. Just close your eyes like before and relax."
I nodded squeezing his hand once. I closed my eyes trying to relax but I couldn't help that my mind was filled.
I coudn't stop thinking of how I just froze a freaking pool for God's sake. My hand was stuck in a pool that I froze and I was with a person who couldn't be more excited at the news.
I had millions of questions, like for one how did Tristan know this would happen. And how did I heal his wound. Let's just say my mind was a jumbled mess.
I opened my eyes seeing the pool still cold and frozen. I looked at Tristan pleading for help.
"This isn't working. I'm going to have my hand stuck in here forever." I jiggle my hand feeling no movement.
My hand was seriously stuck and not coming up. I was starting think I might have to cut it off and get it amputated or something. I needed my hand. Badly.
Tristain could see I was thinking too much and touched my face lightly making me face him.
"You're thinking too much, try to think about one thing and that thing only."
I nodded trying to focus on his soft hands on my face. I don't even think he noticed he was rubbing my cheeks with his thumb. It soothed me a little and I looked back at the pool and it all the worries came back.
I turned to him and started rambling from nervousness.
"Its not working Tristan and I'm going to be stuck like this forever. Then the others will find out and call me a freak and then I'll be sent away from you and never see you again. And I don't want that, I want to stay here with you guys and you especially. And I have no idea what I'll tell my mom or how they would treat me--" I was cut off by soft lips on mine.
Tristan had leaned forward touching his lips to mine. It took me a few second to register the feeling and immediately I responded by kissing him back.
And it was way better than a dream. Our lips seemed to mold perfectly together. His hand moved to the back of neck pulling me to him as the kissed deepened.
I put one arm around his neck getting closer. My stuck hand seemed to move a little as we kept kissing. I focused on that feeling as the coldness seeped back into my fingertips.
It felt like I was sucking the cold out of the pool. It felt great like I was sitting on a cloud. I waited till my hand felt liquid again and I gasped pulling it out.
Instantly Tristan's tongue slipped in and I wrapped my other arm around his neck.
Now I was straddling him and his hands lowered to my waist. When he squeezes gently I pulled back breaking the kiss breathing hard.
We looked at each other as our breath mixed together. I ran a hand through my now white hair. Slowly I moved off him to sit beside him.
I had nothing to say except for the obvious, "You kissed me."
Tristain chucked smirking, "You kissed me back."
I nodded my head agreeing. I was still breathless and brought my hand up seeing it perfectly normal.
I looked at the pool seeing it back to its sparkling liquid.
I turned my head blushing as I touched my lips. I dipped my toes in the water suddenly feeling hot.
"What do we do now," I asked.
He sighed raking a hand over his face. He pointed at the water, "Try lifting the water up."
I nodded staring at the water, bending down I stick my hand creating a ripple in the water. I closed my eyes imagining a drop of water floating in the air.
I lifted my hand keeping them closed still. I could the coolness of the water and imagined it floating above my hand.
I open my eyes slowly, smiling at what I saw. Water was floating above my hand swishing around. I moved one finger and watched as it moves with me.
"Cool," we say at the same time.
And I noticed Tristan's hand was in mine the whole time. I only squeezed keeping him there.
