Tristain-
I watched in slow motion as Ayana touched the blue orb floating in front if her. It seemed to light up before breaking apart and exploding.
Ice shards shot everywhere as a powerful gust of wind blew us against the cave wall. Ayana seemed to hit harder then and slumped to the floor unconscious.
The ice was cutting my arms and left stinging cuts. Still I ran to her calling her name. I saw her chest move up and down slowly, and sighed in relief.
The ice had stopped raining down and all that was left was snow covering the ground. The cages were broken open leaving metal pieces scattered across the floor.
Taking a breath I lifted Ayana into my arms, carrying out the cave. The path was dark but I could still see. When I made it to the path where split into three I set her down against the wall.
Her breathing was quiet as I checked her for any injuries. I couldn't find any, n9 cuts or blood anywhere. I tried shak8ng her shoulders gently but she still wouldn't wake up.
The only thing I noticed was that she was freezing. Whenever I touched her it was like I was touching ice.
I removed my jacket and layed it over her as I waited for the others.
Not seconds later I heard running footsteps and the other four appeared with questions.
"What the hell was that?"
"Are you okay?"
"What happened to Ayana?!"
I sighed bending down and picking up Ayana who seemed lighter than before and still freezing.
I turned to the others, "There was an explosion in one of the caves, someone knew we were coming."
"That's impossible," Sarah stated.
I shrugged my shoulder, "Whatever. We need to get back to the safe house. Ayana's not waking up. She needs help."
They nodded and we walked quickly to the cars telling John everything as we drove.
As soon as we arrived, John immediately told me to put Ayana on the couch. I layed her down carefully bending over.
When I stand back up I feel something trickle down my side. Lifting up my shirt, I see a deep cut that I hadn't noticed before. It was covered in my blood and I didn't even feel it.
Walking to the bathroom I get a towel wetting it slightly. I press it to the wound instantly hisssing at the pain. It brought water to my eyes as I cleaned it. I hurt more than I thought.
The blood stopped and I finally put a bandage over it. I walk back to Ayana carefully sitting down on the floor next to her.
Her hair was covering part of her eye. Lifting my hand I slowly move it back showing her beautiful face. Her hair was soft almost like feathers.
This whole week I wanted to speak to her, to touch her. To have any contact whatsoever. I had stayed away because that was clear my what she wanted when she told me off on the porch a week ago.
I wanted to ignore her words at first but then I listened and figured that would probably make her happier.
And know she unconscious and I have no idea what to do with myself. From the other room I could hear John speaking with a doctor. It was going to take a long for one of our doctors to show up like five hour to say the least.
For someone reason this made me angry, Ayana was hurt and no was going to help or get here till five hours later.
My warm hand traveled to her cold one, and I locked our fingers together and squeezed. Looking down I smiled at how small her hand was to mine.
Our hands felt right together, her and me. I wanted to hold her hand all the time. They were soft and smooth, and knew how to punch when needed.
I laughed quietly to myself and squeezed again. This time she squeezed back and I froze.
Looking up I could see her eyes were still closed. I leaned closer to her, "Ayana?"
She didn't move just kept breathing. I stood up planning to into the kitchen. When I went to remove my hands from her's she wouldn't let go. I tugged gently and still nothing. I tried prying her fingers off me but it was like they were stuck with glue.
I sat back down smirking, so she didn't want to let me go. I'll be sure to tell her when she wakes up.
I played with her hair for a few minutes when Sarah walked in. She has changed out of her gear and was in sweatpants. That was unusual.
She came to the couch looking at Ayana. "She still hadn't woken up?"
I shook my head not speaking. I could feel her eyes roaming me as I sat close to Ayana. Her gaze landed on our conjoined hands and she I looked she was raising an eyebrow.
"What", I ask.
"Nothing," she shakes her head. "Just tell me if anything happen. Okay?"
I nod promising as she we t to t he kitchen where John was still on the phone with the five hour doctor.
Ayana was getting warmer now that she was in the house. I leaned forward hissing at my hand and touching her forward. It felt like she was sweating now. Does she have a fever?
I took my jacket off her seeing her glistening. Now I don't what's wrong.
A few minutes passed and I could see sweat on her forhead. I removed her other jacket with one hand which was tricky and put on the arm rest. I moved her from her face and watched as she sighed in her state of unconsciousness.
I squeezed her hand and felt her return it lightly. Her eyelids moved but didn't open. I whispered her name and only got a mumbling response.
I leaned closer to her mouth to her and her words become clear.
"Don't go."
I leaned back grabbing her hand and kissed the back of it lightly.
I wasn't going anywhere.
****************************
3 days later- Ayana
My eyes snapped open immediately seeing a bright light. Usually I would close them again at the brightness but this time I just stared at it.
I was in my room in the safe house and the curtains were open showing the sun. I suddenly felt hot and groaned sitting up.
From the side I could see someone jump next to me. Tristain was sitting in a chair next to my bed. I looked at him seeing it looked like he just woke up.
His eyes looked to mine and widen immensely. I furrows my eyebrows, "What?"
He leaned forward close to my face inspecting me. He leaned back with a curious look, "Were your eyes always white?"
I shook my head wincing a little. Tristain leaned forward touching my arm, "Take it easy. You've been out for three days and haven't eaten anything."
I turn to him, "Three days?"
He only nods as he looks at my eyes again. I feel something squeeze my hand and look down.
Our hands. Were. Together.
I immediately I felt my self blushing and begged my cheeks to stop. This was not me I don't blush. Ever.
And apparently my body had a different reaction because I squeezed back. Tristain smiled at me and looked down avoiding his eyes. He was wearing a black shirt that was weirdly sticking to his right side.
Without thinking I put my legs over the edge of the bed and leaned down lifting up his shirt.
I gasped as I saw blood leaking out a bandage. "Your hurt," I whisper.
I put my hand to touch and run my finger over the bandage. His hand instantly tightens on mine, I think from the pain.
I look up at him, "When did this happen?"
He shakes his head, "Back when we went to the prison. There was an explosion if you remember. "
I nodded, I only remember some bits and pieces before I was knocked out. I had touched a blue orb thing and then I blown across the room.
I sighed looking across the room, "What time is it?"
"Its only twelve and the others are eating lunch. Sarah and Lily have been cjeckin on you everyday. They've been really worried."
I let go of his hand running it through my hair which felt greasy and tangled. "You should go join them and tell them I'm fine."
He nods standing up, "Will you be okay?"
"Yeah I'm just going to shower. I'll be down in a few minutes." He smiles and leaves me alone to my room.
I stand up closing the curtains making it dark in my room. It felt like I was suffocating. I get some clothes and got in my bathroom. Taking off my clothes, I stepped in the shower. I turned the water to cold feeling satisfied with how it made my skin tingle when it hit me.
I grabbed my shampoo squishing some in my hands and wash my hair.
As I rinsed I notice something black going down the drain. I stop rinsing and notice it's coming from me.
I quickly rinse my hair seeing nore black down the drain. After washing my body I get out grabbing a towel for my hair. I dry it as best as I can and turn to the mirror.
I almost scream at my reflection. I had white hair with a matching set of white eyes. My skin looked paler almost like a vampires skin.
I touched my hair surprised to find it light and soft. It quickly drying and took out a brush, brushing it in amazement. I actually liked it, it was the complete opposite of black and it surprisingly suited me.
After I was done on tangtop and jeans my most casual outfit and sat on my bed thinking how I was going to explain this to the others.
I could say it was always white and I just died it black. Or go with the truth and say the blackness rinsed out when I took a shower. Neither option sounded good.
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I stayed on the bed to weak to get up.
Tristain came in holding sandwiches on a plate. He shut the door his eyes looking at my now white hair.
"You dyed your hair?" He said setting the sand which next to me. I could see had a slight limp, from his injury. I wondered why it didn't heal yet.
I shook my head not feeling the energy to say anything. He only nodded passing me a sandwich. I sat up eating taking a back.
I hadn't realized how hungry I was because I was done with it in seconds. I put my hand my hand out for another one and he gave me and watched as I devored three more.
He chuckled as I wiped the crumbs off of me. I looked up as he stopped wincing a little.
For some reason this bothered me and I huffed before lifting his shirt up again. There was a new bandage this time and blood was already starting to soak.
I had a sudden urge to touch it so I layed my hand over it. It was warm and I felt Tristain tense. I suddenly closed my eyes and felt my hand get colder.
They got so cold that they turned numb and I couldn't feel them for a few second.
I open my eyes again and it was like time froze. Tristain was in front of me but it was like he was miles away. I breathed in feeling cold air in my lungs. Coldness seemed to collect in my hand as I touched his injury.
Then like a flash the feeling was gone and all was back to normal. I blinked a few time staring down.
I removed my hand seeing the bleeding had stopped a little.
I looked up seeing Tristan at me with a crazed expression. "What?"
He shook his head, "I swear you eyes just lit up a little."
I smiled awkwardly, "That's impossible."
He looks at me with a serious expression, "Not everything is Ayana."
