Chapter 17 - A HELPING HAND (1)

The board of directors left followed by the two shareholders that stayed behind for a little chat with them. While the previous owner who is now acting as the president remain to entertain the two of them.

Another man is left in the room which is the Managing Director who received a message from his secretary that he is asked to remain once the meeting is done. He cleared his throat to get their attention.

"May I asked why am I ask to stay behind?"

"Earlier, I've mentioned that we are caught up with a crisis in the lobby. This crisis is partially caused by a receptionist called Alice. Does that name ring a bell?" Jazz tone is so calm but one can totally feel the danger coming off her.

The managing director froze in an instant while the previous owner appeared puzzled. He then asked what happened.

The general manager is asked by Jazz to tell the things that transpired earlier.

"I'm so sorry for their actions. Rest assured that those who have conducted wrongly will be given a warning regarding their actions." The previous owner apologized sincerely.

"That's the thing. We are informed that a lot of guests have filed complaints against this..." Jin pause for a while.

"...Alice and that she was issued numerous warnings already. Yet how come she is still working here?" She stared directly at the managing director the whole time she's talking making the latter uncomfortable and unconsciously fidget.

"I honestly have no idea about this. I'll ask the HR department about this and look at it right away." The previous owner looked helpless then notice how his nephew looked terrified.

"Eddie, do you know about this?" He asked startling the later.

"No, I mean…"

Jin didn't give him the chance to make an excuse.

"He certainly does, we have been told that he and Alice have... I guess, you can call it as an intimate relationship."

"That's just a rumor. Besides, there is no proof…"

"Tut!" Jazz cut him off and press something, the screen on meeting room comes to life once again and showed a man and woman being totally intimate.

"Say is this enough proof?"

"That… H-how is it…" Eddie couldn't think coherently.

Jin only smirks while Jazz went on to show other videos and photos which are too vulgar.

The previous owner couldn't take it anymore and rage on Eddie. He also instructed his secretary to call the HR department to have Alice be fired as soon as possible. "You shameless pig. I should have known better. I should have not been swayed by your father's pleading. Shame on you for cheating on your wife and using your position this way. From now on I am relieving you from your position."

"Uncle in law please no…"

Eddie wasn't even given the chance to plead and is told to pack his things right away and not take a step at the place ever again.

The previous owner apologizes to Jazz and Jin. "I'm so ashamed that I wasn't able to notice this situation, rest assure that this will never happen again. I will conduct a thorough investigation regarding this matter to make sure the rest are not abusing their positions as well. I have to go and settle things down. If you need anything, please feel free to contact me." He then instructed the general manager to assist them further.

They stayed for another hour to make a full tour of the hotel after finally deciding to look for a place to dine in. It's still six in the evening and their flight not until 10 pm so they still have time to spare.

"What should we have for dinner?" Jazz asked while searching for some restaurants on her phone.

"Anything is fine as long as it is decent and edible." Jin replied not taking away her sight from the road.

"Well that could be a bit problematic, as decent and edible to you is on another level." Jazz murmured.

True, Jin's taste buds are too sensitive. Her preference for food is absolute perfection. But she can manage average food so long as it wasn't too much or too lacking of flavor in other words as long as it doesn't make her vomit.

After searching for a while Jazz finally find a place.

"You sure you don't want to dine in their private room?" Jazz asked her cousin as they skim through the menu.

"I see no point eating in a spacious room when there is just the two of us." Jin muttered noticing someone in the crowd.

In between their meal, Jazz notice Jin's curious gaze at something or someone.

"Found something or rather someone interesting?" Jazz finally asked after some time.

"Kind of."

Jazz raised her eyebrows.

"I just saw someone familiar and I can't quite place as to where have I've seen her before." Jin further explained then low key pointed the person she is referring to.

"Mmmm well she does look familiar, but I'm sure it's my first time seeing her." Jazz commented after seeing the person.

They continue their meal in silence until Jazz finally remembered where they could have seen the lady.

"Right, Madame Camilla's portrait…"

"How about her portrait?" Jin eyed her cousin still clueless.

"I mean she looked like Madame Camilla's portrait when she's still a young lady."

Jin look at the person of their interest once again and realized that Jazz is correct. There sure is a resemblance between the lady and the said Madame Camilla, a close friend of their grandfather, when she was still a young lady.

"Wait, Julian is tasked in searching for Madame Camilla's runaway daughter right?" Jazz whispered.

Jin can only nod at this as she is busy observing the situation over the lady's table.

"I mean her daughter should be around late fourties by now …" Then realization downed Jazz. "Oh could she be… I wonder…"

"No don't… your mind is too dramatic to wonder." Jin chided her cousin which earn her a glare.

"Though she seemed to be on a heated argument with her companion." Jazz commented later on.

"Yeah, I noticed that as well…"

Something on Jin's voice makes Jazz suspicious then realizing that her cousin is quite good in lip reading she decided to pressed harder. "What's going on in that head of yours?"

Jin feign innocence. "What cha mean?"

"Oh c'mon I've known you since we're still on our diapers. I know how that brain of yours work."

"I don't know what you're talking about." Jin continue to act clueless about Jazz accusations.

"Fine, I won't force you, but again she seemed to be riled up and her companion doesn't look trust worthy either." Jazz didn't bother to hide her scornful look at the companion of their person of interest.

"Over my dead body…" The next moment the person of their interest raised her voice then abruptly stands up then left the scene which quite got the attention of some of the diners.

Jin notices that someone walk towards the man who is with the lady earlier then after what seems to be some time he and some other men followed the lady.

"I don't feel good about this." Jazz commented eying the men that just left the area.

"Let's go…" Jin immediately settled their bill and rush towards the entrance as fast as they could.
