Chapter 20 - A HELPING HAND (4)

Yesha woke up with excruciating pain, grunting she tried her best to open her eyes only to be hit by an intolerable brightness, she have to close her eyes an instant and slowly open it to adjust with the room's brightness.

Roaming her eyes she noticed that she seemed to be in a private room, something that she definitely couldn't afford.

She tried moving her hand only to find that her left arm is on cast, her sudden movement also brings her a sharp pain on her right lungs not to mention the fact that her face stings like hell.

After a few minutes a nurse entered the room. "You're awake… how are you feeling?"

"Dying…" Yesha answered in a hoarse voice.

The nurse chuckle at her response. "Seemed like the pain woke you up. Just in time for your pain reliever." She then carefully administered the pain reliever on Yesha's IV.

"How long am I out?"

"Almost 36 hours, your brother and friend came to visit you earlier today by the way." The nurse informed her, while checking her vitals.

"Are they the one who arrange for my room?" She will surely strangle her friend if she's the one who arrange for her hospital accommodation.

"No, it was arranged by the Doctor who treated you first." The nursed gave her a meaningful smile.

Alright strange.

"You should go back to sleep, your pain reliever should kick in any moment from now." She was tucked in by the nurse then surely enough the medicine starts to work it's magic and make her drowsy.

The next time she regained consciousness it's already afternoon the next day and sitting beside her is her friend reading a magazine.

"Priya…" She called startling the latter.

"Gosh Yesha why must you shock me?"

"I did not mean to… I was just about to ask for water I'm thirsty."

Priya pour her a glass of water and she drinks it like her life depends on it.

"Hey slow down, we have a whole jar if you're that thirsty."

"Sorry, my throat just feels so dry." She then hands back the glass asking for another one.

"I know you're still recovering but I would just want to know, what really happened here Yesha and who saved you? The police wasn't able to get a statement from your savior. The police will surely be coming here and question you after learning that you've regained consciousness so before that happens I want to be the one to know the tea." Priya straightforwardly ask her after downing her second glass of water.

"Well my grandparents, that's what happened."

"What have they done this time around? Gods, can't they just leave you and your brother alone? They drove you out of the capital, left you guys to fend on your own and they still won't stop bothering you until now. Just say the word and I swear…"

"They wanted me to marry someone." Yesha cut Priya's rumbling.

"SAY WHAT?" The latter shouted.

"Yah, tone down your voice we're at the hospital, there are other patients here who are recuperating."

"Oh hush, were at a VVIP room, I'm quite sure we could throw a party here and they won't even hear a thing." Her friend waved her hand as if this is something acceptable to do in the first place.

She could only sigh at her friend's carefree attitude. "Well in case you didn't notice, I am a patient so if you could be considerate enough?"

"Oh alright, so what do they want exactly?"

"To cut the story short, they wanted me to marry the heir of Clairemont clan to unite both families."

"Right, if I know it better they just wanted to smooch off the Clairemont's wealth. Why not let their favorite granddaughter marry off to that family? Why must they get you involved?" Priya snorted, true the Clairemont family is indeed one of the richest family from the Capital but still classified as a Class B elites nothingless.

The elites of the society are categorized into certain levels, Class E the new money families, wannabe socialites trying to climb up the ladder, under Class C are business men with mideocore company as well as celebrities, Class B families are those with heavy influence to various fields may it be polical, literary, military, medical, etc., and at the same time have about a few hundred millions in asset. Class A are those who are considered as old money, whose wealth could be trace back through decades or even century, billionaires in other word and Royalties included. Then lastly the Class S, only few clan/families belong to this Class and none known to the public and few known to the rest of the Elite Class.

"With how long I've known my cousin, Class B family is just her fall back she would do anything in her power to marry someone in Class A." Yesha lamented.

"She sure dreams big, I've read that she have an upcoming drama but as a second lead. This is what? Her 3rd time being a second lead?"

"She is just starting so…"

"Oh please stop defending that vile woman, let's face it, sure she can act but as a B rate actress at best, the first lead, Lexi, have her first lead drama at her first year of acting, so my friend it's all about the TALENT." Yesha emphasize the last word.

"Alright enough about my cousin and aren't you just being a Lexi fanatic…"

"What can I say, she is totally my type of person and you know, sometimes I really wish you aren't too kind, but that's why I like you. Now tell me about the person who saved you. I've heard it was a woman."

"There's two of them actually." Yesha said trying to remember as much as she could with her hazy state that time.

"Two of them? Are you even sure they are women, you're pretty beaten up."

"No I'm positive, my sight might be blurry but my hearing is perfectly fine. I clearly heard them talk from the time they rescue me at that place until I lose consciousness at their car."

There's a sudden change in Priya's expression upon hearing this but before Yesha could see it, she reverted to her carefree persona.

"You know, I often imagine that if someone will be saving me from any dire situation, it'll be a knight with all its might, too bad for you that doesn't seemed to be the case."

Yesha wasn't a bit affected by her friend teasing. "Who needs a knight anyway? Wait the nurse said it was the doctor who first attended at me who arrange for my room, did you bribe a doctor this time around?" She eyed Priya suspiciously.

"Tempting, but no, you we're already in this room when we even found out what happened to you. I'm curious though, why would that Doctor do this for you. I mean he is not even a doctor here."

"He's not?"

"Nah, the nurse I've talk with said that he is a Doctor from the capital delivering an organ here, it so happen that the woman who saved you came in the same time as him so he took charge of you first." Priya explain which prompt another memory from Yesha.

"I've heard some conversation from a man and women before I was rolled up at the E.R. Though I can't remember what they're talking about."

There was a knock on the door then two police officer came in with the doctor that is now attending at her.

Just as what Priya stated earlier the officers ask her what had happen. She told them what happen but covered the fact that she knows who did it as it will only lead to nowhere. She is not covering her father's family, no she is done playing nice and being polite with them. She's not that saintly. She knows that they won't believe her anyway, so why bother.

"What's your plan now?" Priya asked her after the officers left.

"I honestly have no idea but knowing my grandparents especially my grandmother they won't stop until I agree on marrying the man. If I was on my own I wouldn't worry much but I'm worried they might try to do something towards my brother, worst they might try to file a custody with him. I can't afford that."

"I'll help you with that."

"Priya, I know you're rich but that is not the reason why I befriended you. I don't want to impose."

"You're my friend, and I know you don't care about my money nor my status but money and power is what I got and I am more than happy to extend a helping hand to a close friend." Priya stated firmly making Yesha thank all her lucky starts to have find a true friend.
